  1. Try cleaning the connections with rubbing alcohol and/or some lint free cloth. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  2. Click on "Shop," "Personal PC Audio," "Audio Tornado," and then click the user's guide on the left side. This document should answer most, if not all, your questions! It's not "exactly" like the midiland...it has been slightly modified to work properly with the 4.1 system. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  3. To manhorePPG: We decided to leave the ProMedia speakers analog for a few reasons: --The Promedias are first and foremost computer speakers. Most high-end soundcards have the capability of decoding digital signals themselves, elimiating the need for an external digital decoder. Thus, the typical computer user will be saving $ by not having to purchase the same technology twice. BUT: --The Promedias can also be used at a Home Theater system, with DVD players, TVs, receivers, Playstation2s, etc. For this reason, we will have a separate digital decoder box available for purchase, if you wish to use the speakers with one of those devices. --You will also be able to use this decoder together with a soundcard, utilizing the SP/DIF output, but again, this really isn't necessary--unless your card doesn't have a center channel output--as most soundcards have decoding capability built in. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  4. Keep in mind the ProMedias are manufactured overseas, and shipped to Klipsch as complete systems. When we start breaking down system into parts, the cost of all the parts put together adds up to more than the whole. This is true with many things...Isn't it cheaper to purchase a computer already put together than it is to buy each piece separately, including all the software? Maybe that's not a realistic comparison, but you get the idea. I still have not said this will be impossible; just unlikely, and probably not practical. There will certainly be announcements on the website if this is considered to be a viable option. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  5. It would cost more to do this than purchasing a new system. There's special packaging and shipping to consider, plus the bulk of the cost of the system in in the subwoofer alone. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  6. I cannot tell you why PC companies would sell a 5.1 card with a 4.1 speaker system. I suppose it's attractive to customers wanting to get the latest technology in soundcards so there's less of a need to upgrade in the future, if they choose to do so. That's probably a better question for those companies to answer rather than myself. The 4.1s also have a "phantom center" but we do not market them at 5.1s to avoid confusion. If your card has an SP/DIF output, then yes, you can get the digital decoder to achieve true 5.1 digital sound with the 5.1 speakers. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  7. You are correct, the decoder would not be necessary with a high-end 5.1 digital card. It would mainly be for connecting the pros to a digital output device, such as a DVD player or Playstation 2. More details will be available soon!! ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  8. Yes, exactly. The main advantages to getting a digital decoder (if you already have a 5.1 digital card) is if you were interested in using the pros with a digital output device, such as a DVD player or Playstation 2... Or another advantage is you can connect several things into the decoder at one time; plus there's a remote. It just depends on how you want to use the pro's, really. There will be much more information available when it is released, so just be patient. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  9. You wouldn't want the decoder with a 5.1 digital soundcard. You'd want it if you were interested in hooking your 4.1s up to a digital output, such as a DVD player or playstation 2... ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  10. This will all be explained when we release the product. If you have a 5.1 digital soundcard and you're only using the 5.1 speakers with it, then the decoder will not be necessary. Stay tuned to the website for more details and announcements... ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  11. I really doubt this can be done because of all the changes made to the sub/sats/control pod (the 4.1s/2.1s have a preamp in the control pod, the 5.1s won't)...the cost of getting an "upgrade package" would most likely be the cost of the 5.1 system itself because you'd have to buy all the parts! ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  12. The 5.1 will have 3 plugs--front, rear, center/sub. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  13. The 5.1 will have a separate center channel plug, so you will need a 5.1 card in order to use it. OR you can get an external digital decoder and connect it to you SP/DIF out, then connect the 5.1 speakers to the decoder. We will have such a decoder available soon. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  14. It's difficult to respond with anything helpful on something so subjective as "does it sound powerful enough?" It sounds as though all your settings are good. Do you have the soundcard software set to 4 speakers, instead of Live Surround (which sounds a little weaker)? ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  15. No, this won't damage the speakers. Keep in mind the ProMedias are design to take a lot of bass noise at high volumes! A small soundcard feedback noise will just be annoying ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com

  18. Doctor Rebate is NOT an authorized dealer. We are unable to get a hold of them, which is never a good sign either. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  19. We would replace the same preamp under warranty; the CP-1 is not a replacement, but a true upgrade. It has a headphone jack, auxilary in jack, disengage button, and better channel separation. The 4.1s also have an added crossover in the satellites for enhanced mid-range sound. Thanks, ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  20. That's feedback coming from your soundcard powering down. Does it help to turn the volume down? ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  21. If you have any problems, please email me or contact customer service at 888-554-5665. Thanks, ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  22. I don't know of a toll-free number for Micron, but you can email them here: Micron@microncanada.com Sorry, we do not have the CP-1 available on our website for Canada. Thanks, ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  23. I don't believe I did...we had some e-mail server trouble through most of Tuesday and part of Wednesday, so try resending it now... ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  24. Rem, We say 3-5 weeks because it's hard to know how busy our receiving department is going to be on any given day. Keep in mind they are responsible for checking in all of the Klipsch deliveries and products, including individual parts, and occassionally they do get very busy. I'm sure 3-5 weeks is a high estimate... I'm sorry you feel like you were lied to, but I'm certain that's not the case. We have been in the middle of extensive testing on the 4.1s, and its very likely the rep you spoke with just didn't have any firm answers at the time she spoke with you. At any rate, I'm glad to see you're holding out for the 5.1s, and please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have in the future. Thanks, ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  25. Having a clean control pod was a top priority for the 4.1, which is why we developed the CP-1. We designed it so it would work for the v2-400, as well, so our existing customers wouldn't feel like their concerns were being ignored. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
