  1. Let me get this straight. So if my wife becomes pregnant I suppose it is my fault?
  2. Still, shoot the cat and be done with it. Please.
  3. Mark, just shoot the cat and be done with it. OK?
  4. Would you be worried if your woofers were tweeting too much? Is woofing a lot like barking?
  5. I have heard this arguement several times. Now I am not trying to sound mean or anything but can this be proven? I have never seen anyone offer proof of this. I thought sound was subjective. Wouldn't the sound field have a more narrow vertical spread? Please educate me. Your logic makes sense but here is the issue with laying a horn loaded speaker on it's side. Look at your horns. They have a specific shape. They are not square but rather oblong. Their shape has an effect on the sound and the sound dispersion. If you put the speaker on it's side you have altered the horizontal and verticle shapes of the horn and therefore the sound and sound dispersion. It seems like it would be best to not place horn loaded speakers on their sides. Oh shoot I was going to post something but I figured it out. Man I hate feeling like an idiot. My problem is I plan to upgrade from HTiB to RB 61's and the only center channel I can fit into the opening is the RC 10 or a sideways RB 61. The wife nixed the idea of a shelf above the tv. Hey, finally someone that I can relate to. I tend to feel like an idiot on a regular basis. If those are your choices, then go with the RB 61 for the center. First try to convince your wife to allow the shelf above the tv. Eventhough I said what I said about the sideways approach, don't give it too much importance. The sound isn't going to be that much different. There are so many compromises to make in life. If necessary, make the compromises and move on. Life's too short. (apologies to the Lafayettes)
  6. You mean like this? Actually, your setup looks perfectly sensible. I was referring to a Heresy speaker standing (not lying) on top of a TV. That would look unusual. Having the center speaker standing under the TV is totally logical, but most people have a TV stand under the TV. Is that three Fortes in front? Nice speakers and electronics. The Macs look good, too. Thanks you for your nice comment. Since that picture was taken I am now up to Five Forte IIs, two KG-4s, and two subs. The Macs are very happy pumping power to these full range speakers. My goal is to get two more Forte IIs and sell the KG-4s. No more subs though. Two is enough...................................................................................................for now.
  7. That is so true. We get more closely attached to our pets than our extended family. The amount of grief experienced with the loss of a pet is similar to the loss of a person or loved one.
  8. That's 10:00 PM my time. It may be a few days and it may be on a weekend. I guess you know that Monday I took delivery of my second f-113. I guess that I am a bit of an impatient person. (not the worse of my faults) I'm hoping that the risk is pretty low that adding a second sub will hurt my efforts. BTW, I already sold my old Velodyne sub, so I only have the two JL Audio f-113s. I'll call you soon.
  9. Hey Paul, I like it. Roc Bottom. I've been called many things, many nicknames, but Roc Bottom is a first. Thanks. I know that I have been kinda active in my recent sound system purchases, almost, dare I say it, reckless. But, you see, I seem to be getting older as time passes. My purchases represent perhaps my last chance to "go after my dreams". I might as well spend what I got. After all, what am I saving my money for? An Executor?
  10. I too am sorry that Janet & I cannot attend. In addition to my extreme hatred for Indianapolis, we have a conflict for the time of the Pilgramage. We have tickets to attend the Antiques Roadshow coming to Baltimore. Admission is very limited so we do not want to miss it. We are getting a value estimate on a very unique item. I own a print of a painting by Norman Rockwell called "Gee Thanks, Brooks". It depicts Brooks Robinson (Third Base, Baltimore Orioles) in uniform giving a child fan his autograph. My print has both Norman Rockwell's and Brooks Robinson's signatures on it. I'm interested in seeing what the estimated value is for it. I paid a couple thousand dollars for it in 1990 with just Norman's signature, from the Norman Rockwell museum. Then I got Brooks to also sign it. The last time that I checked eBay for an identical item, the asking price was $22,000. Thank you for making me feel welcome in indianapolis. Perhaps next time we will be able to attend. Perhaps next time it will be held in a more appropriate place for me.
  11. Famous last words.[H] Ain't that the truth.!!!
  12. I have an Adcom speaker box that switches three sets of speakers and adjusts the resistance accordingly. It works fine if you want to consider buying one. It can handle up to 12 guage wire.
  13. I use a single Heresy between La Scalas. It is on it;s side. That causes it to be more directional, but I have not found it to be a problem. It is more than capable. You can use 2, tweeter to tweeter, but you will get better results from one. To get the timbre matched, you will have to reconfigure the crossover to match your Cornwalls. For instance, the Type E runs the woofer (Heresies and Cornwalls do NOT have subwoofers) at 94 dB, the squawker at 96 dB and the tweeter at 99 dB. The attached schematic shows how to reconfigure a Type E to be flat. I am not familar enough with the Cornwall to say if the sound will match. You will want to change the tweeter cap back to a 2uF cap, it gives flatter response. ??????
  14. Does it sound better or worse using only one center speaker?
  15. What if he watches TV on the couch laying down? Wouldn't that make the dispersion for the speakers on their sides "right side up" and his normal speakers standing upright be all wrong? [6] Yes it would.
