  1. Thanks for the picture, its cool that the end result is great sound regardless of how you get there........It looks like I will get my Heresy III's on Mon of next week........at that point I want to try to get everything placed and do some pictures........I don't have a dedicated HT at this point, but I think I'll have the speakers to create a pretty good HT experience. Thanks to all for suggestions and problem solving tips............ Steve
  2. Tom, I catch your drift........since I don't wish to fall into that catagory.......I'll be signing out.......Roc,after seeing your post from here to Russia and back I would chill. I've had roughly forty post in six months and sometimes feel that could be exessive...and I probably should have left this one alone!!!!!!!!!! Steve
  3. Can't tell you all how much I appreciate your input......due to room limitations 5.1 is the thing, and at this point the RC-64 will be in my future for some time to come.....at one point I could possibly work in a Heresy as a center...... I'll be honored to post pictures here in about two weeks which I think will give me time to get it together and placed.......one other question....it probably won't happen for another year, but I have an office in our house that is about 16 1/2 X 17 with a 9ft ceiling.... you guys think this would be overkill in a room that size? I like movies loud but you think that is adequate space for this type of set up? Once again thanks in advance for comments or suggestions.........However after reading the post from Indy K-Fan room size may not be an issue Steve

  5. I have a pair of LS II's for my front L/R, an RC-64 for my center and RT12-d sub.......I am in the process of getting a pair of Heresy III's as rear speakers. Although I listen to a lot of two channel stereo I have a Sony PS III for Blueray disc that sound really good in DOLBY digital and DTS also I am really curious about how this new setup will sound in 5way stereo.......... Big question, my listening area is about eight feet from my rear speaker placement and the rears are six feet apart due to room limitations, and I know the Heresy is a floorstanding speaker, however would raising them up a foot or so do much to the sound? I now use a pair of Bose 901 Series IV for the back and they actually work "ok", but I really want an all Klipsh system and woul like to have the Heritage as my L/R in the front and back. Any suggestions would be appreciated...... Thanks all.............................Steve
  6. Trey........cool is in Indy, and rides a Harley.......I think a picture would be bad ***!!!!!!!!!! And my fingers are crossed along with my eyes and toes..........................good luck later this week. Later Harley Dudr' Steve
  7. This may not be the place to post this, but my son is in the band and they are having fun playing so......for what it's worth check out their myspace and if you reply be somewhat kind......I'm an old man, and although I take critcism pretty well I have a soft spot when it comes to my kid.... http://www.myspace.com/sacredreignmusic The trouble is I don't know if the soft spot is in my heart, my brain or my pocket book.........come to think of it, probably all three! If you take the time, please enjoy, Steve PS.........next year I hope the pilgrimage is in Hope, its just a couple of hours from my house.....
  8. Gilbert..... As soon as I was hit I went to the hospital, from the time of the bite it was probably 30 to 45 minutes till I saw a Dr.....but to my recollection it seems at that point it was almost like " son you are now in God's hands", so get ready for the s--- to hit the fan!!!!!!!!!!! I do rember that my little toe was about as big around as a quarter and my big toe more like a silver dollar, and it really felt like the skin around my anlkle would rip.....to be honest as kids my brother had a boa constrictor and I had been bitten several times, but this gave me a little more respect for venomous snakes.................. Steve
  9. Tom, after 58 items on this thread it's time to add my "snake" story............I live in Arkansas and in my college days(last century around 1975) I was with a friend outside of Hot Springs. We had gone to check on another friends property while he was out of town, it was a beautiful fall day so we decided to take a walk around some of the fields before heading home, unfortunately I ended up in the hospital........... On the way back to my car I decided to take a short cut, my famous last words "this looks a little snakey" fell on deaf ears.. I stepped over a log on top of a copper head and he bit me on the ankle right above my tennis shoe......I thought that once I got to the hospital they would give me some anti-venom and I could head home, but it didn't work out that way.......the swelling went from my toes to mid-thigh and it got so bad it felt like my skin was going to tear.....after about 3 hours I told the nurse the pain was unbearable and I needed something ....her only reply was all you have to do is ask....as a college man I didn't realize the hospital never offers pain meds unless you ask first......duh, now thats a valuable lesson. Well after a week in the hospital I finally got to head home. The Dr. told me it was the worst bite he had seen in years, I evidently caught the mother load of snake venom. I honestly still couldn't walk but had to get out of there................. Later.......Steve
  10. Jason plays bass in a band called Sacred Reign........on Wed the 11'th they will be at Juanita's, tough night for a crowd but not a bad night for some Tex-Mex before the show. That is if my wife can get off work in time to make dinner................ On Sat the 14th they play at Vino's.........pretty good pizza and calzones.......plus they make their own brew! I really do like to see him play, but food and beer is an added bonus at those venues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Later.....................Steve
  11. Hey S-B-W........I was aware of their history but it was a little more intense up close and personal......and actually the only members at the venue close to my age where the band members. My son did have a great time, and shows are something we've done since he was probably 14. they have run the gammet from Ted Nugent to Tool with side steps to Rob Zombie, Metallica and Opeth.........and the list goes on One thing that happened which did make me fill pretty good as a dad was at Ozzfest, one of the kids at the show told my son his dad would have never done something like Ozzfest with him, and I think I'm fortunate that at this point my son still wants me to hit the shows now that he is 19! Jason is in a local band so next week(2nd wk of vaca), he plays shows on Wed and Sat so I get to see him play twice in Little Rock.... Later...............Steve
  12. Hey, I would not have missed it for the world...back in the day(2003) we went to Ozzfest in Dallas...but that is another story!!!!!!!!!!!! GWAR really was something to do one time only, but that one time does carry some neat memories..... Later.................Steve
  13. I just reviewed the Levon Helm thread and thougt "what a refreshing and wonderful show this must have been" Alas my first day of vacation was not so soothing................ My son is 19 and I am 52, even at that we do a lot of concerts together that run a very wide spectrum, last night was an experience for the books. My first full day off and we drive to Memphis for the Shadows Fall and GWAR show....and made the mistake of getting front row spots. Shadows Fall is very good Metal band with excellant guitar work, even thoug my hearing will take about a week to get back to normal I did enjoy their music. GWAR on the other hand is a band that should be seen from the distance, or better yet unless you have a somewhat liberal bend toward freedom of expression.....stay as far away as possible! Technically they were better than I thought they would be musically, however they put on an extreme performance art type show which has gallons(at least 300 to 500 gallons) of fake blood and gore being sprayed on the audience!!!!!!! Due to our stage proximity....I was hit with at least five gallons on my head and I'm still trying to Q-tip fake blood and gore out of my ear canals....I am also sure it will be at minimum one week before my hair and skin tone reach their normal shade.........However I am stiil lucky to have a son who is overall a great kid that doesn't mind being seen with his DAD, even at GWAR...and belive me I was the oldest person there by at least 25 years. One good thing, I did get a GWAR guitar pick at the show.....YEAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! Later Dudes............. Steve "ROCK ON" Hollowell
  14. Arky..........thanks for your concerns......Actually Trey is my cousin and the RC-64 is coming from a friend of his in Indy.........they are goig to hook it up to Trey's LS II's to check the sound. I had also asked Trey about using a pair of heresys if the RC-64 does not sound right and that is still an option. The RC-64 would be a better match cosmetically and space wise(this is more a wife thing), however I'll try to do what "sounds" right.... Again Thanks for your comments.......... Steve
  15. I AM SO PLEASED TO SEE THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a pair of LaScalla II's for my front L/R and a RT12-d sub and have been in the market for a new center. It now looks like I will be able to obtain a "used" RC-64..........that is in NEW condition.......The current owner is going to have it hooked up to some LS II's to see how it sounds, however it has been in a system with Cornwalls and sounds great. It is really gratifing to see comments from a new owner and heigtens my expections for a new sound experience.............. Thanks.... Steve
  16. I have had my LaScalla II's for about three months now and they sound better every time I crank them up......I have also hooked up my 30 year old Beogram 3404 and rediscovered the pleasure of vinyl and am getting ready to start recollecting 180 gram records..... If the LaScalla II is in your future and you have the space go for it, they sound fantastic as a two channel system and are a great foundation for a HT system...... I have some photos posted on the forum under The heading of Trey- LaScalla II pictures which I believe are dated around the end of March.......Pictures are worth a thousand words and if you already are looking at some it could tempt you to take the plunge! Later, Steve
  17. Trey, talk about reliving the drive-in theater without the car, it looks to cool.....it makes me want to pull the Honda CRV up and climb in the back with Michelle and really enjoy the movie! I bet the sound was a tad better than an old metal box hanging on the window....
  18. The BBQ joint off of 65th is HB's BBQ(Herb's Best), the owner is Bruce and they are a part of the family that ran the Shack. Like most people that grew up in North Little Rock in the 60's and 70's the Shack and Lindsey's were the two places that stick out in my memory as good local BBQ. Bruce is a great guy and the food is good, but because of the westward movement of Little Rock, business off of 65th is slow and he only opens from 10 to 6 mon thru fri......if your local you know everything has to be in West Little Rock or the River Market area!!!!!!! The only thing I can add to ribs is cook'em low and slow....I use a Big Green Egg and smoke them for about an hour before I wrap them in heavy duty reynolds and go for about three hours in sauce(a mixture of a couple store bought kinds that are then Dr.'d up with brown sugar, curry and what ever else looks good at the time). For ribs I only do Baby Backs and they fall off the bone! This is Saturday around 10:30 am, I now know what we will be having Sunday afternoon for supper..... Later dude I have to go to the meat market..........................Steve .
  19. As a kid I grew up with bikes and as a young adult I had friends whose existence revolved around exetrmely fast motorcycles and more ink covering their bodies than it takes to write a Hemingway novel...... My one great desire was to get a Big Dog Bike with a super fat rear tire or maybe an Exile bike if I wanted to do triple the speed limit......alas it was not meant to be. Out of love for my wife(27 years of marraige) I have settled on arouind 20K in guitar toys and I am now updating my sound system. All of this with few regrets...........or so i like to say. There is always that twing of pain when a friend gets a new bike and says that I should take the plunge. Anyway congratulations and safe riding............ Later, Steve
  20. Victor Wooten played in Little Rock last summer at a local club...........the band included one brother on guitar and another on keyboards, let say it is a very talented family and the show lasted for close to rhree hours! His bass tech played and would probably be ranked in the top 20 players in the country, he also had a couple students from his bass camp on stage and they were also fantastic. He is a very humble and personable guy, before the show I talked to one his brothers not knowing he was in the band and he was a very genuine dude, all in all it was a great memory getting to relate to some very talented musicians. Later Steve
  21. I had to throw in a couple of guitars, the Les Paul is a custom shop with a really nice quilted maple top, it looks a lot better close up........the oher is a Rick Turner Model 1 which is a little unusual, he made the first one in the late 70's for Lindsey Buckingham and there has only been probably 350 to 400 or so made in 25 years. On the sub, I think it really compliments the LaScallas, It seems that some people who are really into all makes of subs seem to bash Klipsch in this area, but it sounds good to my untrained ear and I am happy! Later, Steve
  22. also one last note the room is basically a dining area, front foyer and family room all in one.....about 21X28 with 12ft ceilings....the sound is pretty good with nice bass response. Of course that RT12-d is really best when you throw in a BIG BANG movie......War of the Worlds is pretty neat, also King Kong has some nice moments.... Later, Steve
  23. it's a Toshiba that's about three years old(I think), the side wings are actually the units speakers.....however I have never heard them because the tv has always been run through a receiver.
  24. To do a quick recap....I was trying to get some Belle's here in central Arkansas and was totally jerked around. Trey is my cousin and we started talking about alternatives and low and behold his guidance led to the LaScalla II's....and then The RT12-d!!!!!! I still need to work on a center channel, I'm using an old Advent that is being stressed out to the max, and my surrounds are some Bose 901's that actually work pretty well. My electronics............an old Denon AVR1801.........somewhat outdated but it works, plus I'm now in somewhat of a budget crunch. I am hooked up to a Dish 622.......and the Sirrus radio coming through on the LaScalla"s and sub do sound quite alright in a straight stereo mode......anyway thanks for your thoughts and comments......... Thanks, Steve
  25. Heres pictures of my new setup, thanks for your help and I'll talk to you later.
