  1. Guys, Surprisingly these are still available. I guess because its a local sale, it makes them harder to sell. Okay, get in touch with me and I will sell them for a price you will not be able to pass. Serisouly. Thanks
  2. Jay, I replied to your e-mail Thanks, D
  3. Last thing.... these are extremely heavy, I am sure the driver+passive reaches well above 50-60lbs alone. and with the heavily braced cabinet, I am guess each weight close to 120lbs per subwoofer.
  4. Jay, You have to come to my house to see why I am selling them. Onec your there, you will see that I can't use them. These were bought for my borther, as I already have to TC-2000 in a sonosub design. We were planning on using this for his hometheater but he ended up buying a really small house (those of you who are familiar with the washington dc area know that even with the downturn in the real estate makert, DC market still warrants a premium). He has absolutley no place in his house for these. Hence, these are sitting in my bedroom... yes my bed room.... Jay get in touch with me and I am sure we can work out a deal. My e-mail is dkalsi@gmail.com
  5. I MIGHT be offering my subs for sale to fellow forums members.... This will be a local MD/DC/VA. All the subwoofer gurus (Michael, Jay, The EAR, and all else) here at the forum can chime in and let you know how good of a deal I am offering. The woofer array includes 1 TC Sounds DVC 15" 2000 woofer and one TC Sounds 18" VMP Variable Tuning Passive Radiator in each of the two cabinets. System is currently tuned for 20hz.. I will offer this for a killer price to forum members only. I just don't want to sell it to anyone who will buy these from me and sell for a profit
  6. DJK, If you think its worth the effort, then that is definitely the route I will take. Would it be possible to design something like that using the yamaha woofers you listed above? I love the fact that the combined volume woud not be significantly bigger than a single cornwall. Is there any already established angle designs out there that I maybe able to use. The thing is that I wouldn't have a clue how to desgin something like that. If there are plans already out there and I just have to make the cuts, that would be awesome.
  7. DJK, I someone was to help me with the design, I'd be happy to try any of the orientations you listed. Could you also explain why your last choice was your last choice? Thanks D
  8. Islander, Your absolutely right. I guess when I meant "BEST" - I actualy meant "best value". I really enjoy my Khorns as they sound spectacular with the upgrades I have made. However, I will add that my Cornwalls are not far behind and cost me less than 1/7th the amount I have invested in my Khorns.
  9. The one and only - Klipsch Cornwall. (at least in my opinion) I've pretty much heard them all (except Jubilees ofcours). I've owned Heresy, Cornwall, La Scala, Klipshorn w/ ALK universal, Klipshorn with AK-2, and Klipschorn with ALK ES and Forte II (actually my brother found a pair). And as good as all the aforementioned speakers are, IMHO - the Cornwall is the best. I am sure that if we get into all the technical stuff and take measurments and this and that, all other speakers might beat the Cornwall, but if your simply talking about enjoying music --- then I feel it has to be the Cornwall. Now Yes, my Khorns with ALK ES networks and trachorns and JBL 2404 tweeters sound better, but it took too much money and time to get them to that place. The Cornwall can be found on the used market for approximately 600-700. Add any cheap HK twin powered receiver or a Trends 10.1 and you've got yourself one heck of a system. The reason why I am posting this is because I've always wanted to listen to Forte II and I finally got a chance to listen to them. As amazing as the Forte IIs are -- IMO the Cornwall simply walks all over them. I think many of you, who have visited GaryMD, would agree with me that, although he has one heck of a Khorns systems, his Zebrawood Cornwalls + Craigs rebuilt Scott - 299B was also one of the sweetest systems we have heard. (Disclaimer: this is just my opinion - don't mean to start any arguments here)
  10. DJK, What is the exact model of the drivers. I am open to driver selection as I have not purchased anything. The one problem is that I would like to orient the woofers horizontally. Having them vertically would make the speaker to tall for my liking (as was the issue the JC was having) unless I was to go with the same exact corner design JC created for the Cornwall DBB. I guess if I was to go with the side by side design, it might be a good idea cross one woofer at 100hz and allow the other to play up to 500hz. I would imagine a sigle 15" woofer could easily play between 100hz-500hz. Its the bass impact below 100hz where the second woofer would help significantly. But this raises another problem - the crossover - it would be incredible difficult to build. Please continue to share your thoughts.
  11. I am just curious how much of an improvement in overall sound is there when utilizing two subs down low. Would it be better to create a system simlar to the JBLs (and having one sub rolloff say around a 100hz) or is it better to just utilized one 18" that will have sufficient output in the lower frequencies.
  12. Thanks for that djk, I think this idea was also suggested in JC ConrwallDBB forum. However, he wanted both woofers to work together to increase db. Would it be a better to use a sigle woofer (maybe 18") woofer? Or could I still use the design above and not seperate the frequencies they will play?
  13. I feel like constructing a speaker. I've really enjoyed JC forum on the Conwall DBB - what awesome looking (and probably even better sounding) speaker. I have to following parts on hand: Altec 511B horns, JBL 2404H tweeters, and K-55 drivers. I, like JC, love the bass on the Cornwalls and want to create something similar to the Cornwall DBB but on a budget. I wanted to know if it would be a good idea to construct something like the JBL 4435 It would be nice to create something that looks similar to the picture of 4435 above. Where there is two 15" woofer in the lower half and an Altec 511B+JBL 2404 on top. Is this a good idea to create a system with side by side woofers like this (i was reading JC Cornwall DBB forum and Dr.Who and DeanG advised against having horizontal orientation for the woofers). I am open to using a single woofer as well --, but because I would like more bass, is it possible for me to use a 18" woofer? I am just hoping some experts may chime in and suggest what I could possible build given the components l listed above. Thanks
  14. I have a ESN in my klipchorns + trachorn + JBL 2404H and I have to say, I could not be any happier. (just sharing my opinion).
  15. Colter, I wish I could keep these but I have already gifted my brother and pair of Heresys and my sister a pair of Cornwall II And they only reason I did that is because I already have too much in the house (2 pairs of Khorns and 1 pair of Cornwall + 1 more pair that I picked up this weekend).
  16. I have too many speakers now. These were bought for a guy at my work (Kyle). He builds his own furniture and so he is pretty good with wood work. He plans on veneering them if not just staining them. I would take these but I just bought 9/10 Conwalls Walnut Oiled with Cane Grills this past weekend from orignal owner with all documentation and glass tops - I will try to post pics of those (and they were no more than a few bucks above these :-).
  17. http://baltimore.craigslist.org/ele/608517122.html Its a local pickup deal and I have heard good stuff about the older AR turntables? Any thoughts?
  18. The pic with colter and his pro-equipment outside the garage is crazy - "colter and his weapons of mass destruction"
  19. No kids yet but I gave my Brother (28) - Heresys + Nakamichi TA-4A Receiver Sister (30) - Cornwalls II + McIntosh 2505. My brother is waiting to move into a house (in an apartment currently - hence the Heresy) - but is lined up to acquire my 1977 KCBR - Klipshorns + Big Baldwin Amp. Much rather give it to him than sell it - but his wife can be a little insesitive when it comes to audio.
  20. Hey Groomlakearea51, Just attempted to do one of the grills. Everything worked out okay but the you can see the EM glue throught the grill. I used the Scotch 77 spary adhesive for the most part but used the EM glue around the cutouts - I am really really hoping that it dries clear.
  21. Groomlakearea51 - you the MAN! Thanks a million. Dhar
  22. Just to make sure I am reading this right, You DO in fact glue the grill cloth to the face of the grill board even while using the contact cement. And the you also use it on the back 1" portion. Correct me if I am wrong.
  23. I gave my sister a pair of Cornwall IIs for Christman. The orignal owner had spray painted the cane grills black to match his pair of mahogany klipschorns. The cane grill is not in the best shape and so I decided to re-do the grill cover on them. I bougth the #17 fabric from Bob C and wanted your guy's suggestions as the best method to redo the grill cloth. Specifically, what I wanted to know was whether if (those who use Scotch 77 Spray adhesive), are appling the adhesive to all areas where the cloth contacts the grill board or are you only applying it on the back where to cloth wraps around and just staple it there?
