  1. Iphone 6 Plus Pic 8-20-2016 301.JPGI love them! There was a immediate difference between his horns and the stock ones. His build quality is top notch, I would definitely buy from him again. The overall sound is smoother, and the sound stage seems to be wider. As mentioned before his horns tame the mid range at higher volumes as well.

  2. Sorry to hear your screen took a dump Bill. I remember you sharing with us on the forum when you got it, and I was stoked for you because I was also looking to get a plasma at the time. The models you mentioned at the prices you are able to get them at sound great. As always its tough to be the PQ of a plasma screen. I think OLED has gotten there, but has some of its own issues. However, the new LED Sammy's you mentioned do come with some modern conveniences. Faster processor for Smart features, better overall software, and ease of use. I currently have a mid-tier Samsung for my den the S7000 series and I have to say it looks great. The colors are bright and vivid, and the image just pops off the screen. I would imagine the models you are looking at will be even nicer. I still think my Panasonic plasma has the better overall PQ but at the end of the day its not enough to take away from me enjoying watching something on the Samsung LED.

I just put in an RF-7 II / RC-64 II set that I picked up through Crutchfield during this sale.  The RF-82 II pair are now the surrounds.  The freight driver showed up alone with a pallet jack but with speakers no longer on a pallet; he tried picking one up to carry but quickly changed his mind.  My hand truck salvaged that situation for us both. :P

Nice setup man, very clean! What are you powering your setup with? Which subs are those?

  4. I agree with jjptkd, I think its a lateral move.

But my this is my take on them. I've owned both, both are great at what they do. If you do any music listening I would recommend the Chorus II's. I think they have a fuller sound, and overall larger presence. For HT I think it just comes down to preference. Both are dynamic, and are able to play really loud with no distortion. If you have already started a sound system with Heritage speakers I would say stick with that. But with that said, I did build my HT around my 7 II's and I have the rest of the setup to go with it. I do like the look of the 7's better. So basically what I was trying to say, Music I enjoyed the Chorus II's more, for HT either one worked for me.

When I add 2 subs to the mix is the bass or quality from the 7s even noticeable or worth the cost difference?

I would imagine your subs doing most of the work, so the added bass from the 7's probably wouldn't be worth the price IMO.

  6. I've never had the 63's, but from what I've heard on many occasions they are fantastic speakers. I do love my 7 II's, they sound great for movies and music. Will the the 7 II's be a big upgrade? Hard to say unless you have them side by side. But the fact you already have the matching set for the 63's, I would personally be hard pressed to mess with your current setup. I would say focus on getting your DIY subs going, I think that would be the biggest impact for your system.

  7. There's a guy local to me looking to sell his RF-5's which apparently haven't ever been used, or ever even hooked up for that matter. I do believe they have been at least taken out of the box. Anyway, he's asking $660, is that a good price or should I offer a little bit lower?

  8. Thanks for sharing your thoughts bud! I really enjoyed my Forte's, and it was hard letting them go. However, they were a present for my bro when he graduated from UCLA so at least they are still in the family.

I have to agree on the boxy sound as well. Though it's not present enough to take away from the enjoyment of the speaker, it's still there. With that said, I did really enjoy the bass and mids on mine. Music wise for me, I think the Forte's sounded better them my RF-7 II's, but not by a lot. However, my 7 II's are on full time ht duty so they'll be staying for the time being. My Scala's are the best I've heard in my house for two channel music though.

I have a pair of forte ii's and one has a small rip in its passive radiator.

Can you take a picture of it? I had a tear in the passive of a pair of Chorus II's I use to own. Luckily when it got punctured the speaker material was still attached. I pushed the torn part of the cone back in place, and used this Silicone with some construction paper to make it more sturdy and it worked like a charm. I got this stuff at Lowe's.

  10. Has anyone bought this little guy yet? I've read some good things about it online, and I've been on the fence for little while about it. I do have a cheapy bluetooth speaker from Amazon that works fine, but its definitely not the best sounding thing ever. So anyone's thoughts would be appreciated!

  11. What a fun build! Your system is quite awesome Derrick! It's been great seeing all your monster subs come together. I'm sure anyone who hears your system will leave with a grin from ear to ear.

  12. Picked up my Fastrac's from Dave yesterday. Super nice guy, glad I had a chance to meet him in person. The Fastrac's were really easy to install, now I just need to get a chance to listen to them.
