  1. You should be very proud. They are awesome.
  2. Here they are jammed into my little (9 x12) room. I'm really liking the sound of these Cronwalls. Very smooth and tight. I'm amazed that these can perform this good in such a small room. Thanks to everyone on this board for all the help. Now time for some music.
  3. Finished and playing as I type. Thanks to Bob and his recap of the crossover, these sound great. I can't seen to get a good picture of these. Here is the best of many tries.
  4. I'll check into that. Thanks. Here's the carnage
  5. Don't tease me like that. I'm feeling bad enough about the situation as it is.
  6. While placing some damping material on my K-600 horns I noticed one of them is cracked in the threaded area. So I'm looking for a replacement or and suggestions on fixing the current one. Thanks as always for your your help.
  7. I've done both methods and prefer the PVA/heat method. I've done many projects this way and never had a failure. When gluing wood to wood, I think this method is superior.
  8. I've been working on these for a few weeks and finally got some finish on them. The maple was a bear to work with. It was not backed and very dry and brittle, but I'm liking the results. The other problem with using a light wood is that seems, which show up as dark lines, must be tight. Working with a beat up par, the corners were not very square, but they turned out great. Four coats of tung oil so far, and I'm shooting for seven. Crossovers on their way to Bob for a rebuild, new pie shape badges on order from Klipsch, rope caulk for the horns and better binding posts installed on the back. Will post more pics when they are done. Tough to get the figure of the wood with the camera, but I tried.
  9. Will post some pics when they get done. I'm being patient, and just sending crossovers to Bob for a refresh so it may be a few weeks.
  10. My gut feeling is they were using a different species of walnut back then as well.
  11. Roc, Walnut changes color as it sits in the light and will get darker. Give it a few months.
  12. I have taken a few classes from a guy that does Steinway pianos, but that type of work is a whole different animal than doing a speaker. www.thomasschrunk.com If using a backed veneer, the maple I used this time was not, it is not really difficult. Just need patience and the willingness to try. Check out Greg's website. He gives many tips to make it easier. Try it on some smaller boxes to get the feel for it and you'll never look back. www.dcchomes.com/Mkhorn.html
  13. Just did mine in Curly Maple. Here is a sneak peek before the final sand and finish.
  14. In the words of Mr Burns........Excellent!
  15. I'll have to give that filler a shot. Thanks!
  16. Great work Greg! You're pics and work were my insperation for my Cornwalls in curly maple that are in progress now. It's been so darn hunid here the veneering has come to a stop. Would you mind sharing the name of the wood filler you use? It looks like a great product.
  17. Looks like he sold them to someone on another forum. What a weird deal. Gary
  18. Heres hoping that karma bites this guy in the butt and the bidding is low for these Cornwalls. Hope you get them. I'm really enjoying my first pair these days. Gary
  19. Any pictures of the Fostex compression drivers? Thanks, Gary
  20. I was thinking along the same lines. Bob will be rebuilding the crossovers and I'll be doing a curly maple veneer job on them when the veneer arrives. Then into the listening room to see if they can overthrow my Tannoys.
  21. First post here on Klipsch forum. I've read lots of good info while looking for info on my new Cornwalls. Thanks to the generosity of a friend I'm listening to a pair of '83 Cornwalls on a Sherwood S5500II at the moment. Let me start by saying I've never been a big Klipsch fan till hearing another friends recapped Fortes. They sound stunning. So when the opportunity arose to get the Cornwalls I had to give it a go. They are model CBR from '83. The cabs are in good shape with a few uglys, but not to bad. The driver compliment is K-77-M tweeter, K52H mid and the K33E woofer with the B-3 crossovers. Recapping is a must I'm guessing, but would I gain anything from using all new crossovers from Bob? How does one contact Bob? Anyother options out there? Would veneering these in an exotic wood be upsetting to the Klipsch masses, or is messing with the stock cabs a no-no? Thanks for any help folks.
