  1. I am thinking about putting it on different speakers and using a smaller amp to run the Klipschs. The Denon is great, so I think I will leave it with the big screen tv and use the Klipsch speakers on a different tv in a smaller room. But money is always a consideration so I am looking for an inexpensive reciever to run the Klipsch. TKA
  2. If you want a 300 disc changer the Sony ES one is suppose to be good at $300, I think it is being closed out. The Denon 370 is the buy for a 5 disc player at under $200. I just bought one of each but I have not had time to form an opinion of either one. The Sony replaced a Sony 200 disc changer that didn't last very long, the ES has a 5 year warranty and better moving parts. TKA
  3. I bought the Klipsch Synergy 1 series of speakers for a surround sound system. In another post people have discussed the lack of power needs for Klipsch speakers. I am now running them with a Denon 3300 AV Reciever which has plenty of power for this system. If I wanted to down size the reciever what would be some good matches for these speakers? Thanks TKA
  4. Thanks for the info, It sounds like the need for easy to push horn driven speakers were the bi product of amps that could not produce much power. The invention of solid state components allowed for the design of less effecient speakers and a new sound. As I am gathering form this post, the Khorns with a good tube amp (Macintosh) are to a solid state amp with B&W speakers as a vintage sports car is to the current mass produced offerings for any number of auto manufacturers. You just have to decide what kind of ride you want, tons of power and speed (sound) or the quirky preformance of a vintage sports car. Thanks Terry
  5. I am pretty new to this audio stuff but I get the feeling the people with the finest sound systems use tube components. Can someone tell me why tubes are superior and why most people don't know a thing about them? Thanks TKA
  6. mdeneen, I do think Apple is a good example, when you think of the up hill battle they have fought against one of the most preditory competitors to stalk the business world (B Gates) I would say they have done a very good job. Being we are now talking price I have to agree that Klipsch MAY have an inflated opinion of themselves. I bought the Klipsch HT setup because I already had I set of KG2s to incorporate into it. All the high end stores ripped on them (even the one that sells them) and the people I know that really do understand the audio business think they are a second rate speaker, if it were not for this BB I would think they produce middle of the road sound and nobody likes them. So how do you determine the products worth in the marketplace? Usually by what people will pay for them. Do I think they should cut the price in half, of course I do! I am sure my customers think I should cut my price in half too. If they quit buying my services I would have to do just that. Thats Klipschs decision. I think I will by B&W at the same price as the Khorns for two reasons 1) I can hear them at the store and 2) their salesmen have convinced me they are better. TKA
  7. Sorry for the cheap shot at computer geeks. I agree with choices for the consumer but from Klipsch's side, can you have a free flowing distribution system and still expect the local stereo shop to support service and listening for website shops that only drop ship (lower overhead)? Possibly if the price point is even between all sources they may be able to hold a dealer network together. I think that is the problem they are struggling with. Once again I think price is a seperate consideration but I don't think because you buy on the internet the price should be lower. That would be great but what keeps people from using the store front for shopping and then going to the internet for the best price? TKA
  8. Klipsch needs to be internet active to expand their market and to make purchasing the product as simple as possible for as many people as possible. How do you hear a speaker over the internet let alone service a speaker over the internet seems to make the sales process dependent on a storefront operator. That is the problem that seems to be solved with the Pro Media approach of selling to geeks over the internet. They must believe what Wired Magazine recommends for speakers and don't expect their speakers to last much longer than their present computer will last. The sound community seems to like to hear and see their speakers before they buy them. If the real question here is price then that has to be dealt with seperately.Text TKA
  9. Thanks Steve, I will try that. In another post someone mentioned that the KG2s use a dhorn which seems to be different than normal for Klipsch. Would that effect the base response? TKA
  10. That being said I look at the sub as I played Vivaldi and the sub did not kick in until there was substancial base signal. So it looks like the sub is working. However I have to set the level knob to the highest setting to get much response from the sub. I have been reading the manual and am still confused how to setup this sub with the KG2s (send a signal thru the the KG2s or only to the sub and at what low pass does the sub match up with the Main speakers in either situation? Thanks TKA
  11. I realize that a subwoofer takes the lowest signals and tries to reproduce them properly, but I am not sure how to set it up in regard to the KG2s that are the main speakers (should all the signal go to the sub or to both the sub and the mains?). In direct mode on my Denon 3300 and the subwoofer(Klipsch 12") set on standby (on when it gets a signal or off if there is not a signal for a given amount of time) I noticed that the red light didn't change to green while play Bob Dylan's greatest hits on a CD, when I changed to a newer CD the Sub started to make some sound. Is there a point at which some recordings do not use the sub depending on how it is produced? Thanks TKA

    New KG2s

Hi Phil, Thanks for the info on the KG2s, in the HT setup I just mentioned, should I send any base signal thru the KG2s or send it all to the sub? Thanks TKA

    New KG2s

I have just taken a pair of KG2s added the SC-1 center and two SS-1 surround speakers,I think that is what the matching chart on this site recommended. In your case it sounds like you want to use them as the surrounds, the main that matched the SS-1 and SC-1 the closest is the SF-1. I didn't have room for SF-1 towers by the TV. This set up with the 12" subwoofer is very nice for Movies etc.
  14. I agree that Klipsch should not disregard the internet customer. However I have never tried to buy any brand of speaker on the net. Are there speaker brands that do market well on the internet and are they equal to the quality of Klipsch speakers? TKA
  15. Webmaster, Thanks for the post of the letter and the web policy.I think what the statement means is that you are going to let the authorized dealers sell over the internet as long as they do not go outside of there sales area and that they have to deliver in their own trucks, not by UPS etc. Even thought you think the web can not support an internet dealer it can be a type of local mail order source for people in the dealers local sales area. That all makes sense and I do appreciate your openess. My only other question is that from the banners on this site it appears that you can order Pro Media speakers from Klipsch.com. If this true how do you determine what speakers Klipsch.com sells? Thanks TKA
  16. Webmaster, Your letter down loaded as a microsoft file which I don't deal with. I am assuming it referred to some more stringent distribution policy. My question is...what is the current internet policy that you mentioned? Thanks TKA
  17. Is there a corrolation between the web and cheap? Or between the web and better distribution and selection? The factory can set the pricing as they do now. However the person in the middle of Utah may not have a local retailer in his area, guess they should buy some other brand of speaker. TKA
  18. Hi Ray, I understand and appreciate what you are saying about supporting the dealers. My question is that suppose... the speakers are still the best quality for the money, are supported by the factory thru the channels they now have in place and are not damaged during the closeout transaction mentioned... I would think the factory allows a percentage of the wholesale price to be used for returned product or warranty work. Why would all the speakers manufactured not fall under the (factory) warranty and be serviced at authorized repair locations such as Audio Kings Fast Track Service Center? If the factory is determined to support storefront dealers they could put in a buyback policy for dealers in trouble or dealers that overbuy on a specific product and offer them to other dealers. Don't get me wrong, I do buy from Audio King and have done so for many years. I don't understand the negative bias towards the internet. TKA
  19. Why does Klipsch not want to give warranty on new speakers that they sell? If Klipsch only sells to authorized dealers how could you get speakers that they will not stand behind? My local authorized dealer's salesmen (3) tried to talk me out purchasing Klipsch. I don't think they thought they were bad speakers, they just didn't like the sound as much as speakers that are not "horn driven". Why Klipsch would want to support them more than the fans on this site I don't understand?
  20. I am all for supporting the local suppliers (my clients are local and they support me). But what about people in areas that don't have locals or that the local sound store doesn't think much of Klipsch so they don't go deep with stock or selection. I am beginning to think that this internet thing is here to stay and I don't see what is wrong with e-stores that sell at the standard price stucture?
