pretty pretty cool I agree ! It´s  always pretty as well  to see a german Dr. Feickert TT here  . model " Woodpecker " with a Jelco 12 "

I ordered the Woodpecker with just has the basic 12” Thomas Schick arm.

This set up has been great with my Charisma Audio, Signature One cartridge.

If I ever get the bug to tweak this set up, it would be to maybe swap the TS for a Kuzma, 4Point arm.

That’s there’s funny. Ain’t a speaker he’s not an expert on. I heard rumor that prior to the passing of James B Lansing he had the foresight to name his famous tweeter “001”. Coincidence, I think not -

The Model 19 wasn't a studio monitor, but a prettied up version of the Voice of the Theater 1216A. They both came with the 416 woofer and 811B horn. The Model 19 used an upgraded driver.

It was really an attempt at sarcasm to Double 0 One, I do believe the 604s were used in many recording studios...

"The 604 series was considered the de facto monitor for most North American and European recording studios throughout the ‘50s, '60s into the ‘70s,

including Abbey Road/EMI, Apple Records, American Sound Studio in Memphis and A&R in New York to name but a few."

My best friend from college picked up a pair of Model 19s used in the early 1980's and they are still in his main system to this day.

They are the speaker that showed me what a hi efficiency speaker, and horns in particular, could do.

I believe the 19 is a great speaker and would be appreciated by most horn lovers.

I have LSs and Peavey Jubs, Heresy 3s, and HIPs... so you know I like my Klipsch.

But if I had a spot for a pair of those Altecs...

the Altec Model 19 cant be compared to a Lascala -Khorn or even a Cornwall , it was basically a large 70's studio monitor with veneer and grilles

Ya, everybody knows that a 1960's PA speaker would trounce a 1970's studio monitor.  🤫

1963: The La Scala is designed as a portable version of the Klipschorn to be used as a P.A. system for Winthrop Rockefeller's Arkansas gubernatorial campaign.

For anyone not in the states

    Funny you just posted this.

On Monday I wrote AS to complain.

My last order just before Xmas was $150.94usd, plus $30.95 for International Ground to my home just north of Toronto.

Last Friday I got an invoice in the mail from FedX for $100.09cnd...

    Canada HST: $26.65

    Clearance Entry Fee: $54.00

    Disbursement Fee: $11.00

HST on Disb/Ancillary Service Fee: $8.45

AS did respond the next day and pointed out their new FedEx International Connect Plus shipping option as per your above video.

This afternoon I just place a new order and used the new International Connect Plus, which cost me $26.46 for the

3: regular LPs and one UHQR Vinyl Record (Steely Dan / Aja).

I will report back after delivery to let everybody know how it worked .

    Fingers crossed!🤞

IMHO FW and Klipsch, or any high efficiency speaker, is a very good match. I guess a SIT model needs to be sampled but I have and do own FW M2, J2, F3 and F5. The F3 and 5 have remained, the others are gone. The F3 is very similar to low power single ended tubes (it’s is single ended SS) and the F5 comes off as a very very good  relatively low power SS amp with leanings to more powerful single ended tubes. I read  a F5 review from the owner of multi thousnad dollar Nagra 845 tube amps that the F5 was right on its heels in overall presentation. I’ve been through too many amps to mention yet the F3 remains with me longer than any. Neither it or the 5 is going anywhere soon.

    Hey now,

Here is a thread from the past that might make some good reading for you, Silverfoxvtx1800.

Since my posts in this thread from last year, I have been enjoying my Triode Labs 2A3 amp driving my 402s.

After Frank updating my 2A3, it has been great!!!

With me getting back into spinning vinyl I have now migrated to a moving coil cartridge that does require much more gain from my W4S STP preamp.

For example for normal listening levels, my digital playback has the volume control in the 13-16 range on the STP.

With my previous Hana, EH high output MC cartridge it was in the 18-20 range on the STP.

Now with my new Charisma Audio Signature One cartridge, I need to up the output in the 35-40 range on the STP.

With an output of 0.4 mV for the Charisma, not unexpected but at this much gain needed on the preamp I am now again noticing some unwanted noise out of the 402s.

I cannot help but wonder with a more efficient amp on the 402s, like the J2, F8, or SIT3, this issue would not be there?

Really not keen on posting what comes through the door but owning numerous Klipsch speakers from RB75’s to Jubilee’s and several in between I think I can speak with experience when I hear something special. Just received a pair of Canadian made Coherent Audio GR 12 Signatures. Point source, or co-axial design using the high performance Radian 12 inch driver, inset with a 1.75 in. beryllium dome compression driver with high Q crossover components. Currently playing with Quicksilver Horn Monos I can honestly say these are goosebumpers, something I haven’t felt with few, if any other speaker. The texture, clarity, soundstage, overall “completeness” is astounding. An exciting addition to say the least -

Congrats on the great new speakers.

Frank's speakers have caught my ears several times at many Toronto audio shows, and usually one of the best sounding rooms at these shows!

They play music with such ease.

Have you tried them with your First Watt amp yet?

    👍

    CD player

Musical Fidelity M3SCD, black friday deal, was almost half the price for a new player with 2 year warranty.

    Good score!

Where did you get the player, online or brick and mortar store?

  9. Ya, I was spinning the Blasters, Hard Line LP that I picked up a few months ago.

It is a mint Japanese pressing that sounds great!

I have seen Dave 3 or 4 times, but never with Phil.

Dave with his Guilty Women line up was a great show.

A couple weeks ago on Sirius, Jim and Buddy did a 2 episode interview with Dave.

Well worth listening to, if you are a subscriber I think you can find in on the SXM app.

It was late last night. 😫

These wouldn't still be for sale all these years later, would they be!!??? One could only hope...

As a matter of fact I am still running these as my everyday speaker system, although I am currently playing them with

    the K-402 / K-691 instead of the K-510 / HF-200.

I might be persuaded to let them go, but with the elapsed time and inflation, I would probably need at least my original asking price of $3600cnd.

From your handle, I am assuming you are a fellow Canuck?

If so, where are you located?

I am about 45 minutes north of Toronto.

nice tt , looks simillar to  a german Dr. Feickert Woodpecker

     Thx MM

Yes it is a Woodpecker that I bought a month or so ago and I am very happy with this bird.

A year and a half ago I bought a vintage Denon DP-62L just to see if I would like getting back into

    vinyl.

The 62 with a Hana EH mounted sounded decent but the Woodpecker, Schick arm and Charisma Signature Cartridge

is a different animal all together!

Right now I am using a budget Vista Audio Phono2 phono stage and it does not sound bad.

But after auditioning a Allnnic H-5500 for a couple of weeks in my system, I know things can be better.

I am hoping to go have a look and a listen to a 2nd hand Pass Labs XP-17 in the next couple days, but it would

need to be special to out do the H-5500.
