  1. Woofer, back of baffle...
  2. I decided to use some left over 3/4" BB for the baffle, plan was adjusted by 1/4"...
  3. Dry fitted with pocket screws...
  4. Not sure if it was needed but I filled the pocket screw holes with calking.
  5. I finally found a use for those clunky old Cornscalas
  6. Here are a few pics from my scratch build...
  7. Carl, I am sure Erich's "kit" would make life easy with this build but for those that don't have access to the flatpak , or would rather try the scratch build like I did, should not have too much trouble with going that route. Even with moderate wood working shills and basic tools, this is a great project to tackle! Thanks again for spotlighting another cool sub.
  8. Marked for future reference... I think I will finish my pair with a similar round over and a top coat of DuraTex. I have 1 built and the 2nd one awaiting the 2nd side to be glued on to complete the cabinet. Stupid Kitchen renovation is getting in my way and not allowing me hobby time
  9. Me to! I drove down to Niagara Falls, NY (where I have my mail order stuff sent to) and picked up my two, 4ohm Anarchy woofs. I will be doing my cabinets from a scratch build. Erich should be giving CECAA850 a commission on these It was hard for me to visualize the size of these woofer until actually having them in my hands. In Carl's build thread I lost the size prospective while reading, it will be very interesting to see how these little guys work. With that said, I am astonished at the amount of sound and fidelity that comes out of the little 4" drivers that are in my Frugal Horns.
  10. I ordered a couple 4 ohm Anarchy woofers on Thursday, mine should also arrive in a day or two. I will be initially trying my tapped horns with my new Frugal Horns in my smaller 2 channel set-up, just looking to fill out the bottom a bit, no "reference" levels needed here.
  11. Hey Carl, Bump... PM sent.
  12. I can meet you in Detroit next Saturday or Sunday, that is more than halfway. Can you go through Ontario without a hassle? I think you can if you let the powers that be know ahead of time you are passing thru with a USA speaker. 1st, unbolt the front passenger seat and take it out. 2nd, squeeze the sub into that spot. Lastly, put a lamp shade over it and drive on through like nobody's bussiness.
  13. Congrats on the sale tlarwa, nice looking FHs. Over the last few weeks I have been building a scratch pair, mine will be driven with a pair of Mark Audio Alpair 7.3s that Dave at Planet10 enabled. It will be interesting to compare them with my Cornscalas. What Klipsch are you running and how did the FHs compare?
  14. Bump up for some more looks. The UD384 can also be used as a USB to Coax SPDIF interface to send digital to your uber high end DAC to get the most out of your hi res files! As well, with the help of a few software programs play DFF SACD files from your computer. Also, soon via a driver update, 32bit/352.8kHz will be available on the KingRex UD384. All this for $425, with the U-Power!
  15. Shakey, Go back up and have a look at the #4 post for all that I used to do my build. I went with the B&C based on Al's recommendation while we were talking about putting his "new, then" Cornscala-wall xovers into my build.
  16. I believe it is a JBL 2380 clone... I guess I must be "anyone" All I can say is that my Cornscalas sound good to my ears, better than any of my previous Heritage which were all basically in stock form. 2 winters ago when I built the CSs, I think Bob felt this horn was a reasonably price upgrade over the K400 horn as per the original Cornwall / La Scala recipe. Yes, with a "cost, no object" build, a pair of Dave's Fastrac mid horns or Greg Roberts Fc260 korns would have been a fantastic option. No, I have only had Al's Cornscala-wall xover... and dispite that JUNK BUT LOAD clone mid horn, things are sounding pretty darn nice. The 4Pi are going to have to be pretty great to compete with the CSs.
  17. Bump back to the top with a new price... $425 shipped for the DAC and U-Power combo. This really is a great USB package!
  18. Well, I had a bit of a set back with the used woofers that I took the chance on with the FleaBay purchase. They showed up last week and it was quite obvious that the one was reconned with a non JBL kit. I decided to take them into my local JBL service center to get checked out and discovered that the recone was not with authentic JBL parts. Then the tech said that the other woofer (the not re-coned one) has a sagging, partially collapsed cone. He said he sees this in woofers that have been around the block and felt it should be re-coned to getting it playing properly again. The Toronto service center quoted me $300 plus tax (13% up here) per woofer and the best price by a USA JBL service center (in Rochester) was $165 per woofer. I guess this is why they say JBL stands for "Junk But Loud" Fortunately my FleaBay seller offered to take them back, with me just loosing the return shipping. I then decided to roll the dice again and paid a bit more on eBay and ordered a NOS pair of JBL 2226HPLs... we will see when they arrive next week.
  19. For Sale is my 8 month old KingRex UD384 USB Dac. This DAC lists for $499USD... I am asking $375. It is in as new condition and will give any computer based music system outstanding sound performance with bit rates up to 24bit and sample rates up to 192kHz. This will let you hear what all this Hires talk is all about! I also have the matching KingRex U Power (also 8 months old) which ups the performance on the already fantastic UD384. The Kingrex U Power offers the end user a way to isolate the Kingrex UD384 USB Dac from noisy & dirty AC power sources. It is a battery power supply used to power the UD384 with pure DC power. The U Power retails for $199USD... I am asking $150. For those wanting the DAC and U Power supply... Package deal I am asking $475.... SOLD Thanks for looking.
  20. Opps, Claude, you are absolitely right ... "Don't take this the wrong way, but if all you want is DE-250's, why don't you just buy them new?" I just went over to PE and I must have been looking at the wrong B&C model... the DE-250s sell for $110 each. Tom Bump this up for a good guy and a great system :emotion-21:
