  1. I can't comment on the normal Sony equipment but I have the DA555ES and it makes my klipsch come alive. I have never heard any hiss or other detractable sound comming from my reference series Klipsch. I think that you should just audition some receivers and pick the one that has the features, price and sound that you like. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  2. My Sony has a setting for surround in the speaker placement section. It allows you to tell the receiver where your speakers are. Behind, to the side, high or low. This helps out with equalization alot. Check your receiver and see if you can do this. dipole speakers are like to speakers that are glued together at the back. i.e. same drivers on both the front and back of the speaker. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  3. Here are a few pictures of my entertainment center. http://www.geocities.com/klipsch47403/theater.html ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? This message has been edited by wife-said-no on 01-15-2002 at 06:48 PM
  4. That is what I am wanting to do. The TV in my livingroom has a receiver and the one in my bedroom has a receiver. I want to get satellite to my sons room without adding an additional receiver. Basically, how can I wire it so that the TV in my sons room is linked to one of the other receivers. Thanks. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  5. I did a search and can't find anything. Does anyone know how to run satellite to a spare room. I have satellite in 2 rooms and would like to expand it to the 3rd. Is there an easy way to do this. Thanks. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  6. I finally got to listen to a pair of Rf-7's yesterday. Let me just say that they make my Rf-3's sound like little itty-bitty bookshelf speakers. Now if only I can talk my wife into letting me get them. Anyone know what the poerball is this week. Not that it would help. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  7. Sorry to jump in. I am just curious about what the difference in the powered and non-powered subs are. It seems like in this case it would be more cost effective to get the powered subs. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  8. I wonder how it will compare to the SVSubwoofers. Since you can get 2 of their 12" powered subs for $1500. Unfortunately, I haven't heard them so I don't know how they measure up. A lot of people on this forum say they are great. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  9. My LCD remote that came with my Sony Da555es receiver died. Freak bubble accident (dumb cat). Anyway, I can get along with out it except for two important functions. 1. I can't remotely change the surround field. This isn't a big deal, the TV is only 10' away. 2. This is the part that stinks. I can't remotely adjust the levels. Which makes fine tuning my stereo a pain. Playing test tones on the AVIA cd and then getting up adjusting the level, then sitting down, checking it, so on and so forth. Anyone know of a good remote that will be able to use the functions. I guess that I could get mine fixed but if a pronto or similar remote will work then maybe I will just go with that. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? 10. Anyone ever try this. I think that it might be a cool design and am a little curious about the SQ and the SPL http://www.decware.com/whorn.htm ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  11. What happened to the new reference sub. I can't find it on the Klipsch page anywhere. Even when I do a search. Please don't tell me that I have been waiting all this time to find out that they are junk like the old ones. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  12. Anyone know where that post that had the link to the DVD player playing off of a coat hanger. I did a search and cannot find it. Thanks.

  14. Look around, you can find AVIA or Video Essentials for cheaper. Also, try the place you do business with. I got my copy of AVIA for free. Now to you question. I wasn't so sure if it would help. I did my TV first. My wife, who couldn't tell the difference in the TV and Home Theater, noticed the difference in the way it looked. Then I did my audio. I noticed the difference right away. It is like listening to an orchestra tune their instuments. At first they are off and sound funny and tehn all of a sudden they sound all together and harmonious. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  15. quote: Originally posted by James D McCall: WSN, Just curious - how'd the touch screen get ruined? Maybe the info will save others the same fate. Unfortunate accident-my son (4) was playing with some bubbles and the cat knocked them over. All over my remote. The remote itself works but the LCD screen is touchy. You have to dial in the contrast just right in order to see anything. Even when you are lucky enough to get the picture back it is interlaced with verticle lines. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  16. I ruined my Sony touchscreen remote and was just curious how the Pronto is as a replacement. I just want to make sure that I get something that will control all the little functions of my Sony DA555ES receiver. My original did everything that the receiver was capable of. Also, if anyone know their web address. Thanks. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  17. Another thing to look out for is the fact that UNDER powering a speaker causes more damage than overpowering it. I wouldn't try pushing them to their limit. The receiver that is. THe speakers can handle it. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  18. It's been a while since I used my avia cd but I remember a LFE track. Do you have the Avia disc or the Sony Avia disc. I wonder if they are different. Mine is the "special" Sony version.
  19. If speaker cable isn't a problem then you have 2 choices. 1) string them up and if you don't like them use a little spackle on the hole. ($2 at Wal-mart). Nobody will even know the hole was there. 2) place them on a bar stool or something that puts them at around the right height. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  20. That flat gold piece isn't gold. It is brass in the color of gold. Brass isn't all that great of a conductor so, by replacing it with speaker wire (just enough to span the two binding posts) you are creating a better conductor. This means the signal gets where it needs to go more efficiently, thus better sound. If the bi-wire has you worried go to Wal-mart and buy a $5 spool of 14g wire and use that for the hi and whatever you have now for the low. That is what I did. Made a difference IMHO. May be a placebo effect but hey, it sounded better. If it sounds better to you, go buy better cable, if it doesn't you are only out $5. I hear that Home depot has a $65 spool of wire that is really good. (250' of 12 or 14 gauge)

  22. How do you have it hooked up? You aren't using too many audio inputs are you. I just hooked up the digital line to mine and left the rest (RCA etc) out of the loop.
  23. here is the picture of Vtec's RS-3's http://www.klipsch.com/ubb/uploads/Vtec/VTEC_surrounds.jpg
  24. I think that this is a way to not waste money. The theory is that it takes a larger gauge to carry the lower frequency than it does to carry the high. I am using 2 different sizes but only because that is what I had at the time. If you buy cable in bulk then there is no need to use 2 different sizes. Someone might be able to find some physics formula that says otherwise but I doubt that there are ears that can tell ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  25. quote: Originally posted by Dman155: Also, wife-said-no, if the RF-3's were both right next to the tv, stereo imaging might be lost/lessoned because they are already pretty close together. I don't know, just a thought. I guess my post was a little confusing. What I was trying to say is that the RF-3 on the "right" side of the TV should be the same distance from the TV as the one on the "left" side. The one on the left has a the stereo rack between it while the one on the right is next to the TV. I think that Avia says to take the size of your TV and divide by three. That should be the distance from the TV and the speaker. I think it was Avia, it might have been an article in The Perfect Vision. Kathy-As Dman155 said the important part is the front image. If the speakers don't match, when the sound pans from left-center-right, it will sound funny. I personally like all my speakers to match. Just make sure that the speakers are a close match. I used to have a small pair of Sony surrounds and they sounded weak. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
