  1. LOL!! I guess then you could call monster cable hot chite on a silver platter, while the HD zipcord is a cold turd on a paper plate.......[]
  2. my situation sounds very similar to yours wuzzer. I'm 35, 5'11" and for the last several years, my weight hung around 195-200. not overly heavy, but getting uncomfortable for me. a little over a year ago i started running 3-4 times per week and just slightly cut down my food intake. i was down to 176 pounds in less than 3 months!! before attempting this, i hadn't run ANY since high school and even then i despised it. at first, i could barely run a half mile before having to walk. slowly i could run a decent mile and more. then usually walking 1 mile to cool down while your heartrate is still up. what i was really amazed by the most was the 'wanting' to run more. the endorphins your brain releases really does cut stress way down. fast forward 1 year to today..... after a somewhat stressful year with work and other things, i stopped running when it was too cold last winter and over the last year, i gained all the weight back to where i started! my eating has picked up only slightly. i am starting to run again this week with more time to put forth the effort again. looking forward to getting into my 'smaller' clothes i had bought over a year ago!! running works better than i had ever imagined with more good side effects than i thought possible. something i found out too wuzzer... go to a good shoe store that specializes in running shoes. a good store will have someone with a trained eye that will watch you run back and forth a few times to determine how your foot and ankle 'move' and which shoe has the support where you need it. that was the best $90 i spent on myself.
  3. oh yeah, before i forget... whenever dweezil zappa comes around again, i'm all in to see zpz in indy or louisville.
  4. hey colter, whystore is a really great band. i've listened to them since they put out their first album around the mid 90's. i wish i would have known they were in louisville, i would've went for sure. chris has a real unique voice. the original lineup is what i want to see. last i heard, they played the music mill in indy several times the past year or so. for anyone interested, southern culture on the skids is going to be in louisville the end of may at a place called headliners. can't wait to check them out... 5. marshall space flight center is a neat place to see if you can get someone to take you through. large scale indeed jtkinney! for whatever reason, they were still doing tests on the shuttles main engines in the early 90's. i visually saw that on the stand in huntsville. as small as they may seem in comparison to the srb's, you can place a shuttles main engine on its side and easily stand inside of it.
  6. i wasn't aware of stennis. can you still take tours of that facility? sounds cool. huntsville has a new area to their space and rocket center that actually houses a complete re-furbished saturn V laying horizontally suspended from the ceiling. it really puts into reality the sheer size of this rocket. it is still amazing to me how great of an engineering feat the whole intial space program was and still is. tom, i can only imagine the experience of witnessing the firing of a saturn V!! the diesel engines you spoke of were also a part of the old restone tour. there were 6 or so of them that pumped insane amounts of water to cool the launch pad while testing. http://www.spacecamp.com/museum/
  7. very cool pic's! have either of you ever had the opportunity to tour redstone arsenal in huntsville, al? i'm not sure if they still do it now, but back in '92 they were using one of the old launch pads to test shuttle engines. just a single shuttle engine would shake the entire area. i couldn't imagine the entire shuttle going up! they haven't done it since 2001, but they used to give bus tours of the arsenal. there are several launch pads, an old command center that has not been touched since being used in the 70's, the underwater multi-million gallon training tank, and many more cool areas. von braum himself did a lot of work at this facility.
  8. sorry jared, i waited as long as i could. just needed to sell it rather quickly. it seems ebay will bring more than i imagined. i will keep my eye out for you since i have seem to run across several good deals the last few months. if you are interested in a sub-10, i can get you one of those that is 'mint' condition with the original box at a steal of a price.
  9. gilbertma, how does it feel to have your system on epik's website? it dang sure looks good! [H]
  10. two rsw-15's would do a bang up job. they are getting hard to come by. i was just having fun with the whiskers comment, lol!
  11. maybe a giant, crazed, monster cat sized whisker....
  12. i have just what you are looking for kiltman. click on above link that wuzzer posted. thanks youth and wuz for the link!
  13. I can watch this over and over!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAF14g0Smho&feature=related
  14. I have RF-7's as well...........The KLF-30's will rip your face off. hey swl, how would you compare the two? i've heard the 20's, but not the 30's.
  15. klipschead, i don't think you can go wrong, especially with the price of a mfw. performance vs. dollar amount is very good. the only other thing that i found about both subs, is that when listening at very high volumes, which i do a lot, neither one could keep up with my 7's. now granted we are talking some serious db's, but the rf7's eclipsed either one of them. that is my next hurdle. finding something that can have some serious output in the middle 120 db range.
  16. only if i could have two.... at a killer price! []
  17. i bought a mfw-15 for $530 shipped. the fit and finish was very good. the amp in mine worked well, but i did have to remove it and re-route a few wires inside to get rid of a hum. this is a problem with most of them and there is a thread in their forum showing how to 'seperate' certain wires to get rid of the hum. i sold mine only because i was just curious to see how it sounded and wanted something else. having gone from a rsw-15 straight to the mfw, i can tell you a few of the differences. the rsw was a little boomy at times, but was mostly articulate. THE thing i didn't like about the rsw was the inability to play lower frequencies. below 30hz or so, it fell off drastically. the mfw actually had a lot of the articulate characteristics of the rsw, but also had the ability to play low. it outperformed the rsw in almost all respects. having said that, the whole failing amp issue they have had with these, makes buying one a crapshoot. i don't think getting a replacement amp would be an issue, but the fact of having to deal with it makes it a tough call whether or not to buy one? in all fairness, the rsw has clearly a superior amp and driver(s), not to mention looks the part. the mfw just does the job better, with possible problems.
  18. very nice room os! you too youthman, nice! after looking through your build thread, you got some smokin' deals on equipment! what are your impressions of the projector/screen combination so far?
  19. hey vital, how did you end up running(wiring) your two emo amps?
  20. i had a really nice set of rf-5's i was going to use as rear surrounds in place of my rs-7's. my problem was is that where my towers would be positioned in the rear, they were not suited for surround duty either for movies or dvd-a and such. my couch and chair are on the back wall of my room. maybe if you had ample distance between the back wall and seating it would work. down the road i will probably have both to achieve that 'cool' factor you spoke of!![] i actually left my kg's in the rear corners just for that reason! it would be nice to have a way to have both of them on an a/b switch...
  21. i'd have to agree too that the 720 would be worth the extra 20 or so dollars more. the color screen would be nice and the buttons do seem to be a bit better laid out.
  22. inventor, i was also looking at the harmony one, but i felt the price is just too high for what it is. don't get me wrong, it is probably one of the nicest remotes as far as the way the buttons are layed out and the way if feels in hand. after ruling out the one, i purchased a urc remote. talk about big and clunky!! then, around christmas, BB had the harmony 550 for $50. i have to say, the button layout isn't perfect, but it is a darn fine remote for the money! i especially like the harmony software via usb connection to your computer. very handy indeed. one last benefit, all the buttons and screen light up the same color blue as your emotiva....[]
  23. actually the kg 3.5's used to be the rear surrounds before i had the rs-7's. they are just sitting there taking up space now! i have been meaning to move them to garage duty, but they look like new and i hate to ruin an otherwise nice speaker...
