  1. I just recently started listening to Blues. I may check it out. Thanks for the heads up Jason.

No problem, I'm not a huge Blues fan but i do like a good live concert. There are many stages to choose from too.

  2. If you're talking about double bracing, I have a wider dual 8" TT with a single brace with no resonance whatsoever.

Edit: There's only 8 3/4" span between the brace and the wall on this one anyways.

8 3/4" is more than the maximum allowed.

Just trying to help is all, its all stated in the plans.

  3. Baltic Birch or equivalent plywood or MDF would be your best choice, stay away from solid wood.

I prefer plywood for its durability plus its lightweight & does not soak up water like a sponge if it gets wet.

Good luck with your project, be sure to post pictures (we like pictures).

  4. How big is your room Claude ? Is there hallways or other open areas ? Just trying to get an idea of the space you took the readings in.

Speakers against a 12 1/2 foot wall. Room depth 14 ft. to back well where my headboard is, which then opens to a 3 x 15 ft. hallway. This is something I never expected from such a small box, so I'm sure it's mostly the room and corner placement on right with with near corner placement on left also (3ft from corner 1/2 bath door needs to open). The following Room Simulation Wizard should serve to explain the 40 Hz. peak that was measured. at the spot with the "head" symbol/mike placement. Since I measured most of the bass coming out of the rear ports before I put these in the room, I basically modeled them as a 30-150 Hz. sub and measured the exact location of the ports against the wall. I would say the model AND the measurements agree.

The room is a very nice size for a pair of Heresy's and with you mods should offer a little more thump where it needs to be along with midbass details.

  5. Looks good.

Leaving the extra set of braces out is a bad idea, you end up with a resonance issue similar to the La Scala bass bin except instead if just 2 panels resonating you end up with 11 with the problem.

Remember your stock is only 1/2" thick, its in the plans to be braced at no more than 8 inches apart for a reason.

  6. UPS just dropped it off.

I'm not unwrapping it until I'm ready to have it framed, otherwise it will just get effed up.

    Thank you Klipsch.

Did you look inside to see if maybe you got all 10?

Just one unfortunately, opened it up the other day to check what size frame to get. The poster is 24" x 18" and is on a very heavy paper and well made.

  7. I use Terk powered antenna and I'm my second one now, the first one fell from a shelf high up and broke. I'm in Arlington Heights now but it worked well in Mt Prospect, Des Plaines, Zion & Rockford pulling in all available stations and some i did not know were there.

Its adjustable and the trick is to keep it away from your speakers & other electronics as high up as you can get it, i listen to XRT sometimes and have no problems.

  8. I was approached by some white van speaker salesmen, told them i was interested in buying if they outperformed my current speakers. At the time i ran a pair of Advent Maestro that i purchased a few years before.

The guys lugged the speakers up to my second floor apartment, unboxed them and let me hook them up. Don't recall what brand they were but they looked pretty sweet, anyways the speakers sounded like a cheap set of Polk Audio towers and the guys even admitted they expected something more out of them.

They were happy to pack up their speakers and thanked me for my time.

Traded in the Advent's for a pair of Chorus II a few years later.

By the way i got those Advent speakers and the years flagship Kenwood receiver for free from Silo electronics, filled out a credit app and was approved for $1500 but the manager gave me a cash receipt and never heard from them again.

Yeah not the right thing to do i know but i was young and did not really care. :D

  9. Frail old man walks into a bar sits down and orders a beer, a drunken rowdy marine walks over and hassles the old man about being small and weak.

The old man tells the marine to buzz off and the big man delivers a kick knocking the frail old man off his stool, the big marine says roundhouse kick, Karate.

The old man hobbles off to lick his wounds.

The next day the old man returns to the bar only to get hassled again by the big man and this time gets hit on his neck, the marine says Knife hand, Tai quan do.

The old man once again hobbles off home to recover.

Once again a few days later the old man returns to the crowded bar, the marine is once again starting trouble and walks over to the old man to give him another beatdown, the marine loads up and swings but before he knows it he ends up on the floor bleeding from his head, still dazed looks up at the old man hovering over him, the old man says crowbar, ace hardware.

  10. Iv seen the sears ad's on the bottom of my ebay sales for the last year, never paid mind to it, sears bought Kmart sometime back, sold my sears stock at that time, sears aint what it used to be.

The real sears deals are at their Outlet stores, ya need to do some digging, but they are everywhere also.

I have perhaps $5K in sears double roll away tool box's, don't think iv spent $1K over the years getting them.

    K-Mart actually purchased Sears.

  11. OK, so, I knew I wasn't hearing things when I said "slamming" bass and growling with all my test CD's. I finally ran some curves in my listening spot in my Bedroom, both speakers on. Look at that bass response in a real room!!

I have seen and heard $20,000 Palladiums all the way to $65,000 Wilson Audio speakers. Both have bass reflex ports in the REAR of the cabinet. I believe this allows the long wavelength coming out of the port to open up bounce off the walls. curve was done in the room where I've been listening. Jason, you were right, I will NOT needs subs with these SupaKilla Heresys. WOW!

No wonder I thought it sounded as good or better than a Cornwall. This thing goes BELOW 30 Hz.!! Now I realize there is lots of cabin gain at play here, but still impressive, eh?

I used 1/6th octave smoothing because we all know what no smoothing looks like, and this is more realistic to how we hear anyhow. yes, the tweeter is a bit hot at that spot, but my HF hearing is not so hot to compensate, LOL.
