Never heard the NAD surround sound receivers either but are probably great nevertheless.
NAD gear sounds wonderful with Heritage and Reference, IMO. I may be a little biased because I own a NAD pre/pro, HT receiver, and a CD player, but I am totally pleased with the sound quality.
Bill
Good to hear, i have a NAD preamp & love the sound.
My friend has one of their receivers and some Klipsch reference towers (i forgot what model they are, RF-62's maybe)
and pairs nicely.
No doubt they make good stuff.

Just realized this was the home theater section, not very often you hear Belle in this area.
Outlaw does not make a surround sound receiver. Never heard the NAD surround sound receivers either but are probably great nevertheless My apologies.
-
NAD & Outlaw receivers would be a decent choice to power your Belle's if it must be a receiver.
-
The Cornwall 3 is a great sounding all around speaker, i would buy them in a heartbeat.
I think the Cornscala sounds somewhat a little bright for my tastes but still sounded good.
Never heard them next to each other to A/B them with the same amp/room combo so take my findings with a grain of salt.

I was thinking more in the line of turbulence in the horn path from the driver assy. not actual output.
-
I just looked over the Orthon build, it looks pretty well designed compared to some others.
Braces are well placed on the cabinet but the motorboard may be the weak point.
Still i don't get how blocking much of the horn path with a massive driver does the design any good.

I get crap like that in my spam folder like once a week, makes you wonder how many people are stupid enough to spend money or give out personal information to these jerkoff's.
-
I guess you could come to that conclusion.

I'm using the B&C 21SW152-4, which is $750....but I purchased mine used for something like $500, I forget.
My interest in this cabinet was kindled by the insanely awesome measurements that Ricci published:
http://www.data-bass.com/data?page=system&id=81&mset=87
To be honest, I'm not interested in digging lower at the expense of "high frequency" performance...."high frequency" in this case being the 80Hz region, but this cab is solid all the way up to just under 300Hz. Covering an entire decade with a tapped horn is unheard of....I built the cabinet just to hear how the measurements correlated to the audible experience. Normally I don't like tapped horns.
Another thing to note is that its distortion characteristic is nothing like a typical horn of any flavor; musical content below the Fc comes across in a very pleasing way even though it's not technically "accurate". For instance, the dubstep I played at a dance party in my basement a few weekends ago was just rocking everyone's senses - even with the 10Hz'ish content. It was literally like swimming underwater....and I only had a puny "1000 watt" bridged XTi 1000 powering it (which was probably closer to 800W in reality).
When I build a second cabinet (to improve room mode behavior), I'm going to run new electrical and get a 4000W amplifier for each cabinet. Ironically, I typically listen at only ~65dB or so (which I'm doing while writing this).
The thing I like about this sub is I can play something like Skrillex and just slam the crap out of people, but then without changing anything I can put in something like Blackmore's Night or Loreena McKennitt and everything sounds super natural - none of that over-exagerated bass with normal music. Everything is effortless. You don't get this sound from designs like the DTS-10, Lab12, THT, Lil Wrecker, or whatever the budget flavor of the week is....and that's not at all to downplay those designs (in case there's anyone out there enjoying them). The money put into the 21SW152-4 is entirely solid engineering. At the same time the Othorn horn design requires a driver of this caliber, and the benefits reaped far outweigh the steep cost of entry in my mind. Stacking multiple cheaper subs together doesn't get you to the same level of quality - even if you can get it go louder. It's the full gambit of quiet music to loud music that really differentiates this sub in my opinion.
Anyways, that's just one guys opinion that is on this never-ending quest for the best possible sound. If it's out of your budget, then of course we need to start talking other designs.....and I can see those being extremely enjoyable - maybe even more enjoyable when you think about how much more music you could purchase with the money saved.
So you have A/B'd all these different subwoofers and came to the conclusion that the Orothon is best in your opinion ?

The shipping upcharge is listed right above the price of the kit.
-
Is this not the reason most buy new products, to get a worry free warranty ?
No warranty = FAIL

Lots of great information on Bill's websight.
I would not have gone in business building his cabinets if i did not believe they were the best designs out there for any price.
-
That seems much more reasonable.
I bought many Alpine head units for car audio in the past with good results, never used any of their drivers though.
-
-
The recommended drivers for that Othorn sub are priced out of this world, you could buy 4 Eminence Lab 12 drivers for the same price as the cheapest recommended driver for that sub.

Spending money on something I use and love everyday is worth it . My only rule is never buy what I can't pay cash for.
Good advice. Its easy to get overwhelmed by debt purchases.
-
Always good to have a backup meter around just in case there is any question.
Glad things turned out OK.

The Table Tuba & the THT both have 13' horn paths yet the THT easily digs lower in frequencies than the TT so it can't be just the horn length making the difference.
-
I used the Dayton Classic with only 8mm of X-max and never had a problem with overexcursion, i would guess they're not needed.
According to Bill the THT reaches maximum excursion @ 22Hz and drops below that.
No bragging just stating my experiences.
-
Burn yourself a 10-20 Hz sweep and see how low the THT really digs.
I was able to shake the house using only 20 watts with my 24" THT.
-
Nice looking preamp.
What's that wood veneer on the case ?
-
Find one more and use them for Left, Center & right channels.

I had one of Frank Zappa's cassette's Sheik yerbouti that went south long ago and recently picked up a new copy on CD along with Joe's garage.
Definitely off the beaten path, good stuff.

In that same vein... After living in SW Louisiana for five years in the early 80's I'm a sucker for cajun and zydeco music. Cultural influences run very deep down there and I brought some of theirs back up north with me.
Laissez lez bon temps rouler, cher!
I was looking around at Rolling Stone Records here in Chicago and they had some music i kinda liked playing as i was shopping around and i asked what it was when i went to pay for my stuff, turns out it was Buckwheat Zydeco Lay your burden down CD playing, i purchased the CD at the counter. Its pretty good, i like many types of music and get sick of listening to the same stuff on the radio all the time.

Most belt driven models will be a better choice, they seem to last longer + you can replace the motor easy if it goes out.
The important thing is that you drain the water from the tank often, check the oil level & install a drier in line to protect your air tools from moisture, don't forget to oil your air tools before each use for longevity.
