Hey Jason, did you find any leaks in your cab.
One small leak in the driver access door, 1/2 turn of a few screws fixed it right up.
-
Looks good, be sure to test for leaks.
Don't break any windows testing your new sub, my woofer took 2 weeks to fully break in and that was after 3 days of running on the bench.
Be sure to post back with your opinion of your new toy. [Y]

KG2 or similar for garage speaker
Just saw these KG2s on the Bay. Good price so far, though zero feedback is a definate con.
Thanks for the link but i am not buying anything at this time, however i am still interested in trades to make it easier for somebody to take home a dam good subwoofer.

Pee Wee also had a part in a Cheech & Chong movie. I cant remember which one it was, but I think he played a hotel clerk. It has been so long since I watched it.
Correct,he also played Donna's boyfriend in 'Nice Dreams". ( The big Coke party under the table in the reasturant ).

One of my favorites, speaking of The Blues Brothers Matt "Guitar" Murphy is playing with James Cotton at Chicago Blues Festival this year.

If you need some good outdoor speakers on a budget i recommend these Advent's, my friend has these out at his pool and they fill the whole yard with sound if needed.

Scott, you heard both of my systems the other day, i would describe the Chorus II system as deep and punchy.
Using just the LaScala's alone they produce detailed midbass with a clean bass feel that sounds like it needs some help, adding the Tuba sub not only finishes off the lows with seamless bass it shows off the flaws of the LS bass in the form of cabinet resonance that i did not pick up on until the Tuba came along.
Hope you enjoyed your visit.

Checking out all possibilities is a good idea but new woofers will get better with play.
If you think you may have a air leak you can play a 20 Hz test pattern and listen for air leaks around your seal.
-
Woofers do take some time to break in, how many hours are on the new woofers ?
-
Looks like an old thread but you can't go wrong adding a good horn loaded subwoofer, clean, tight lows that take beautiful sound of the LaScala's to a whole new level.
-
I set it up, ran Audyssey, and gave it a listen. The new subwoofer did the trick! Must have been a bad driver, as suggested by CECA. Thanks for chiming in, guys.
DJNICK - I'd love to answer your question (at least I think it is a question), but I don't understand what you typed.
ABT in Glenview, IL had a quick and seamless exchange process. I'm very impressed.ABT is a nice place to spend your money, i have not been there in some time but remember they stock some decent stuff.

This thread is no good unless we have charts and graphs for us to follow.

Sub 12 is good for home theater, its a hard hitting subwoofer but too sloppy to blend into a music only system.
If you must have Klipsch find a used RSW series subwoofer.
-
horns are great if you can tolerate a what could otherwise pass as full size refrigerator in your living room. The THT is 36 cubic feet or more than 20 RSW-10's.....I'm sure any subwoofer would be better with 20 times the volume, give the op a break will ya...If box size is no issue, of course performance can increase dramatically. Tapped horns also might be a bit more efficient in the low end compared to standard horns, but they also give you huge peaks in the upper bass as much as 10dB swings which are simply not easily EQ-able. You can also port or vent the rear chamber of a standard horn to get another reflex resonator and added low end output - Klipsch actually did a lot of design around that awhile ago.
The THT standard 24" size is 18 cubic feet and its not all about the volume, horn loading sounds better.
Smaller models are available if size is a concern, they just dont dig as deep. The parts are here for for my next build, the Table Tuba.

Chris Isaak - Wicked Games.
The screech of his voice is like nails on a chalkboard. Nope don't like it at all.

Hey Jason, i am in the process of building a Tuba HT Sub to run with my LSI's. Got all of the wood cut yesterday, can't wait to hear this sub, but i'll take my time and do it right.
Very nice, the build will be well worth your time and you will be impressed.
Follow the plan and you will have no issues.

Chorus II vs LaScala? They do not sound anything alike to me.
I totaly agree, with LaScala's the mids are much more convincing , the bass is more refined for a general description + the crossover frequency from woofer to squawker is lower on the LaScala giving the midrange a cleaner, sharper feel the Chorus lacks.
-
If you think you will be able to repair the cabinet use PL premium.
As for the sound you should head over to your closest Klipsch Heritage retailer and hear the lineup for yourself.

My systems run overclocked 24/7 running smp programs for Stanford doing research, not just the processor but the video cards too.

The only time my system is off its restarting for updates or power failure.

I'm not exactly sure where there could be any leaks, the cabinet is sealed unless its around the drivers and thats an easy fix.
You could part out the drivers if needed, they are worth a mint but i would not do that unless there was no other option.
If just loud is what you are after the LaScala will stomp all over Chorus, just not with as much deep bass.
Since completing my fully horn loaded system and hearing how good music can really sound i wont be doing much more than fine tweaking from here on out.
-
The Chorus II's are great speakers that love to rock, they offer a great front row concert sound that can really slam when powered up properly though they lack much of the finesse, detail and soundstage the LaScala offers.
I find myself in front of the LaScala's much more since adding the Tuba sub, at first i missed the slam factor the Chorus II offers, as many know the LaScala offers great bass response but lack the ability to produce the lowest frequencies that now is picked up by the Tuba to offer the best of both worlds.
You looking for some new audio goodies and not sure witch way to go ?
What watt receiver do I need?
