  1. Stopped into a new for me liquor store, that had a few things on sale, cash only, that were worth the detour. As always I checked the bourbon aisle and there to my surprise was a bottle of Weller Special Reserve. Now this store is in a less than well off area, so I was quite happy to see the Weller, too bad it was $49.99. I left it there, right next to the Weller 12 that was $199.99.

Short of someone in the area winning the lottery, they will be there for ages.

  2.  I can't help but think you will regret this in the long run, but you have been making lots of strong moves over the last 2 years. These will not last long, GLWTS.

Items like the '97 Silver Fox cab and '98 Kistler chard are too risky to sell to customers .

$117.00 altogether , not too bad of a haul .

I have had a bunch of Jim Barry's over the years and think you will enjoy them. The Kistler might have the stuffing to age, but it will be quite a different wine by now. Worth the gamble, the reds should be fine.

What's Rollo up to? Still living in Paris with his hot Princess  of a wife?

I bet  he's getting soft and fat living the life.

Jimmy Buffett knows the answer: "He Went To Paris."

"He was impressive, young and aggressive, Saving the world on his own

But the warm summer breezes, the French wines and cheeses, put his ambition at bay

  5. Bourbon is mostly a weekend thing for me. Right now I have 6 bottles open at the house, Woodford, Larceny, Eagle Rare, Weller Antique, Weller Special Reserve & Four Roses Single Barrel. Decisions, Decisions. There are also Single Malts & Irish Whisky to consider.

  6. Not that I am aware of, the Port barrel finish really rounds this off nicely. I am more of a Wheater bourbon fan than a high rye content fan, but this one is right in my wheelhouse. Don't get me wrong I also like Four Roses Single Barrel, which is a rye bourbon, so it's not like I discriminate. Try a glass before committing to a bottle, no need to add to your son in laws shelf!

  7. I went out for drinks with a customer who was born and raised in Kentucky. This guy had bourbon in is blood. We had 4 different bourbons and the Angel's Envy rose to the top of the pile. Now this was not a double blind tasting and the order in which we drank them influenced our decision, but we all bought Angel's Envy for the home bar afterwards. As has been mentioned, there is no accounting for other's preferences in a bourbon's flavor profile, but I am a fan of Angel's Envy. Try it, you might like it @CECAA850

  8. I always thought B.B.King put on a great show. Lucky enough to have seen him at least 3 times. First time was at the Jones Beach Theater on a triple bill with Robert Cray opening, followed by Etta James & finally B.B. I then saw him on another triple bill at the Oyster Bay Arboretium with Delbert McClinton as the opening act followed by the Neville Brothers and B.B. on the top of the bill. The last show I can recall off the top of my head was a blues review at the Paramount theater, the old Felt Forum for you old guys, with Junior Wells, Koko Taylor, Little Feat and B.B. A great showman with a top flight band, glad I saw him before his voice went south.

  9. As others have said the Weller Antique is a bigger bourbon than is the Weller 12. Both are excellent, the 12 is smoother than is the 107 proof Antique. I cannot find any Wellers in my neck of the woods as folks perceive them as "Poor Mans Pappy". Glad I have a pair of Antique bottles in reserve, no telling when I may come across any in the future.

The Larceny might grow on you CECAA850, I am partial to Wheat bourbons myself and while not in the same league as Weller or VW, it is not bad on the rocks.

  10. Glad to see my man Richard Thompson get his well deserved respect. Notice my avatar? One of the greatest guitarists of any genre on either acoustic or electric. I have seen him over 50 times and he never fails to impress on many levels. I would add to the chorus of respect for the great Leo Kottke, who I think is the best American acoustic guitarist and has been for many years. Where's Tony Rice? That man is another monster player.
