  1. All equipment is in excellant condition and all recently restored and working perfectly. As for the mice, I got two big ol cats that don't pee on anything and dojn't scratch anything, justt eat mice and other critters. Cigarbum
  2. Is there any special needs of stored audio equipment, mainly amps/pre amps/recievers. Do you have to walk them around the block once a year, pet the occasionally or just stare and admire them every time you walk by. I just have mine on shelves and covered up to keep dust out. Information will be appreciated. Cigarbum
  3. Does anyone out there have one of these testers? I recently obtained one that has been completely refurbished and calibrated. The instruction manual has been provided but is way over my head. Can anyone walk me through the procedure of testing tubes on this machine. I am mainly interested in testing KT-88/6550 tubes. Thanks Cigarbum
  4. I just need to keep my trap shut on this one. CB
  5. I have had this thing for a long time and want to put it to use, I have the recone it, I can handle that. I want to use it in conjunction with an old Kenwood 9400 and a bunch of other mis-mash stuff in the workshop in my basement. The problem being, I don't have a clue how to hook it up. Attached is picture of the back, can someone tell me what wires go where, I ain't no wiretwister. Or it can be used with a bunch of older stuff. Thanks again. Cigarbum

  10. Just checked EBay for some prices of the Hickcock 6000A, that may be out of my price range. Thanks Cigarbum
  11. If the price is right, I may buy both. Cigarbum
  12. That's great,I'll take it. Take a good guess of shipping and your address and I'll get check in mail. Bob
  13. Stromberg Carlson 433, Scott 222/299, I think you have the others covered, but I still get a list together. Wouldn't happen to have any pictures, just so I can see what it looks like. I will sent you my other email address, it's with Windows 7, couldn't merge old address with windows. Bob
  14. I believe what you mentions is what I want to mess with, I have seen several of the Mighty Mite testers for not a lot of money. You mentions reiable sell, are there any of those around anymore, I have just had some real bad luck lately with purchasing stuff, it seem they just want to screw ya. Again, I just want to test the tubes in my equipment (MC275, MC225, VRD's, Scott, Stromberg Carlson) so I guess it will test the tubes I have. The tester is so old I can't find the settings and you follow the instructions and ,It don't work> cigarbum.
  15. Mikey, I wil not deny the fact that you need help, of lots of sorts. Merry Chritmas to you and the whole family. Ho. Ho. Ho. Cigarbum
  16. One of the basic problems I have in the area I live (mountains of North GA, there is nothing around here, I would have to drive to Atlanta to find something, hence why I trying to do it myself. The only problem with that is I don't know didddly squat about what I'm doing. I thought I saw some testers, mutual conductance for the price range, restored and calibrated. Got any idea where I could purchase something that works, just to see if a tube is good or bad? Cigarbum
  17. Well I may have fallen into something the other day, in my wanderings I ran accross a guy selling this stuff. As I have been getting more and more tube stuff, I though it would be kind of neet to check some of the tubes, don't have much else to do. I'll put some pictures in here, I have looked at all the tubes and I don't think there is anything I can use. If anyone sees anything they may want let me know, are the tubes good or bad, I don't have a clue, because the tube tester the came with the mess don't work. So, what I do know, if the tubes are good they may be worth something, if they are bad they aren't worth anything. Next, I think it would be fun to get a tube tester that works, I've about had it with EBay, does anyone have a good workable tester for sale or know where I can purchase one. I don't want to spend a ton of money, lets say top price would be maybe $200-$250. Again, if you see something you wanat let me know. Cigarbum
  18. What is the preferred material to clean audio equipment, like won't remove paint, decals, lettering or stenciling? I've got the q-tips, micro fiber cloths but need to know what you wet them with. You some of the units that have been restored and they really look nice, what do they use???? Thanks CigarBum
  19. I'm not sure this is the proper place to put this, but I guess it's OK. In my wandering I ran across an old Stromberg Carlson intergrated amp, most said it was kind of a good amp, well off it want to Craig. Well Craig performed his magic and said it a really nice unit and produces really good sound. Because I don't have a lot to do, and thinking this area (North GA Mountains) may have some potentical for some good finds. What I would like is to get some opinions of what you guys thing are some of the better finds and what tubes would be in these unit. I know there is Scott, Fisher, Harmon Kardon, are there any best kept secrets of old tube intergrated amps. I would like your opinions, amps should be fairly easy to find and should not cost a zillion dollars, running or not, Craig can do his really neet stuff. So just wondering what to look for whan out and about. Thanks Cigarbum
  20. Man, I told you to be careful. Wishing you the best and speedy recovery. If there is anything I can do, let me know. Bob
  21. Well, I have made up my mind of what I want to get. After much reading and listening to you guys, the winner is the Revox-77. I want to find one that works and I won't have to have any work done on, up here in the mountain sticks that will never happen, so that being said I guess I am correct that the Revox has higher speeds and will take the 10" reels. Keep your eyes open for me, if you see one that is working, I haven't had real good luck exscept from the forum, on electrical stuff, they it works perfect, when I get it, it don't work at all Thanks again for all the input, Happy Holidays to all Cigarbum
  22. You guys are about to talk me out of my need for a reel to reel tape deck. Maybe I just buy an old junker that doesn't work, put it on the shelf so at least I can look at it now and again. Should be able to find a non-working of about anything on E-Bay. Cigarbum
