  1. Then if they disagree with you tell them their opinion is worthless and call them prejudice bigots. Nice work - you are a real class act.
  2. Like what balled up wire and a few electrolytics? I will stick with my JBL's. These piezos have been used for years in low buck pro gear, and are not well suited for home use.
  3. What do you mean? Use Bob's crossover and horn with this bass refelx box? Or perhaps in a home theater setting?
  4. This may seem like a dumb question, then again this is the perfect thread to post it in. Were the RCA's to the amp and speakers wires checked? I know I would never wire anything backwards but it is a common mistake, and would also cause the problem described. "No honey, the light is supposed to go off when the switch is up....I designed it that way"
  5. Im in, or at least I was last sunday. What happened to the updates and pictures? I guess ill start, the bass on the Portesy was far better than the Lascala. The Cornscala's bass was very similar to the Portesy but more bloated. I actually believe it was a toss up between the Portesy and the Cornscala. Jill, Candee, and Lori, preferred the Portesy for its size.
  6. I agree, for the bucks, you can't beat a Project. As I understand the Technics 1200 is a good reliable piece, but I prefer belt driven straight arm tables, and the SL1200 looks like an old DJ rig with a slip mat.
  7. Another set sweet. I had gothover overhaul my cornwalls a while back, but I didn't have the horns mounted internally. I just have them sitting on top. I am anxious to see how these turn out, your last ones looked perfect. Make em sweet - Craig
  8. I heard Paul came over last night and was also blown away with the Big Horn Portesy. He said he thinks they may better his Scala's. I dont hink I am being biased, I think your combo is that good. BTW, I updated my profile.
  9. Just got back from a trip over to Gothover's place today, and am blown away by these ported Heresy's. I cant believe it was built with Heresy guts. Fist of all the bass is phenominal, fast and accurate, the mids and top end are as sweet as my Cornscalas, in fact these sound near identical to my Cornscala's with half the footprint. This in not a Heresy or a Tangent, this is an all new hybrid, perhaps the Tangala or Herescala. The midhorn sets this speaker apart from the rest. Dave, I cant believe these are in your shop!!!!!.....Craig.....
  10. Those look great, when are the crossovers going to be done so I can come hear them. Love their size, how do they compare to the Cornscala II's you just finished.
  11. Dean, I think the Gothovers Cornwall horn will work fine with the B3.
  12. You really need to re-consider the spending the extra $$$ and get the wooden tractrix horn. I think gothover has one that might fit in your box. There are also a few threads on how build your own if you are handy with woodwork. All of the plastic horns I have tried are shouty and harsh, in fact I was ready to give up on horns, then gave the fastrac 400 a shot with ALK crossovers. Now you couldn't pry them from me. The P-Audio 3616 has an fc of 500hz, that would be good for a Cornwall, not sure its low enough for Cornscala. Good luck on the Cornscala Craig
  13. Daves horns are going to be a huge improvement without a doubt. I have heard these in Lascala's, Cornscala's, Cornwalls, even sitting on top of Heresy's. In all cases it was killer upgrade. Craig.
  14. It seems you are on the right path, I have Crites woofers and Fastrac horns in my Cornscala's, and I love them. I currently use the K-55 drivers, although I have a pair of JBL 2426's for another project. Never heard the Altec 902, or the Great Plains. What crossovers are you using?
  15. Dave, when are those coming over for a road test?
  16. Bring the VTA over this weekend so I can audition on my own system. The price is good, but I need to hear it here first. Was that 5 bullets or 6......I gotta know.
  17. Hey Dave, Thannks for the audition. That is by far the best phono stage I have ever heard, the clarity is unbelieveable. How much to build one for me if I buy all the stuff?
  18. Hey, thats auto mechanic profiling and I dont like it. Is that ringing really in my head?[au]
  19. What am I? Cottage Cheese. I love the way they sound, just need to find a place in my shack for them. My opinion is they are better overall than any other horn I have heard, voices are just real and image excellent. I have no idea what that off axis jargon is, but I know I like them. Then again I am a little off axis.[:S]
  20. I second that, its worth the extra $ to me. I love the sonicaps. I had a pair of these in my Lascala's, huge improvement over my stock ones.
  21. If you didn't install it, it didn't get changed.
  22. Got my Trachorns from Gothover 2 weeks ago, I am using them on top of my Cornwall with an ESS Air motion transformer for tweeter. This combination sounds great, love the horns, a major improvement over the stock CW. Will post pics when I get a camera.
