  1. I agree with Wuzzer, having s separate mid horn makes a big difference IMO, I would not switch to the 10's.
  2. I think that te size of your room is going to decide on the sub or not. Also, the kind lows you are looking for. IMO the Rf-52's are not going to give you alot of lows that most are looking for when listening to movies and or music without a seperate sub. I would suggest that you look on CL or similar, for a used sub, there are a ton of good ones out there. I would suspect that if you find a nice 10-12" sub that it will compliment your system nicely. Good Luck ~ross
  3. Sorry, I can't help you out with this question, I don't have any knowledge on the Icon series, I have seen them when Best Buy carried them but never really had a chance to listen to any of them. Hook em up and listen for a while, then repost and let us know what you think of them, Also, if no one has said it before, welcome to the forum. ~ross
  4. RF82's all the way. Before I switched to heritage, I ran a complete 82 setup with a RC62 center and RB81 surrounds. I have to say it was awesome, I still wonder sometimes why I made the switch. It was a great setup, personally I like the sound of the chorus's a little better as I am more of a music guy than a movie guy.
  5. If it were me I would go with the reference line, I might even look at the RF62's as an option as well. The RC62 center is a great center as well..
  6. Do you have the ability to make a riserc yourself and paint it to match? I would use ..3/4" MDF, and make it so your TV sits on top and your C7 fits in underneath. Just a thought, it seems over time I usually wind up building what I can't find. Good Luck. ~Ross
  7. was just curious, if you ever made the "false wall" and if so how did it turn out?? ~ross
  8. Well honestly if your cash flow is still good, I would look at the Integra DHC 80.2 Pre Amplifier and a Emotiva XPA-5 as your power plant (200W x 5 @ 8 ohms) It has 5 HDMI connections in and 2 HDMI out. Or you can look at an Integra DTR 80.1 all in one, with the same HDMI configuration. You can reasearch other brands as there are plenty of good ones out there, I just most familiar with the Integra line and have had really good luck with it. Also, my LRD has the Integra DHC in there demo room with a complete Klipsch THX setup and it rocks. Good Luck, ~ross
  9. I have a buddy with a complete synergy setup, just made mention in another post, he is running F3 mains C3 center and 4 F2's around the back. After hearing his setup I would suggest that you get the F3's. JMO ~ross
  10. I don't have much for litening experience with the icon line, I have heard some people using the RVX-42 as a center channel, not sure how the sound is but it could be an option. ~ross
  11. I don't have any experience with the Icon series, nor have I heard any, my buddy does though have a complete synergy setup, F3 mains, C3 center and 4 F2's for side and rear surrounds. It sounds really good for music and movies, but as for mixing the two I really don't know how to answer. If you compare the two the sensitivety is close 96 vs. 97, you compare 3 5.25" woofers to the 2 eight inch woofers in the F3 you get slightly more woofer with the F3 the main difference is in the horn they are completely different and most likely will not sound that great togother for music and most likely movies. I would suggest looking for a pair of the VF-36 for mains or look for another pair of 35's. JMO good luck ~ross
  12. I did with a pair of heresy's, it did sound good, they were right next to one another though, sounds like you might be setting yours apart on either side of the fireplace and I don't think that I would do that. I do on the other hand like the sound of my system better after I found an academy center and replaced the heresy's. There are many who will say not to use dual centers, due to comb filtering, I tried to find out more about it, didn't have much luck. With all the jabbering I've done, IMO I would not go with the dual center towers. Good Luck ~ross
  13. you can buy the KA-1000-THX and then build one or two DIY subs for much less, the trick is finding a source for the special NL2 speakon output connections to the amp, I was able to find a local music shop that carried them. I then built two 15" enclosures using rockford fosgate power T1 series, I have auditioned the klipsch thx subs and they are awsome, but mine are every bit as awsome plus some, and I built them both for less than one of the klipsch subs. ~ross
  14. and we all endure because it is so relaxing spending hours upon hours on CL, looking for that killer deal, or trying to decide do I really want to bid on something i can't see until after I spend the money. I also have a story, pretty much have the room set up, invited some friends over to watch the movie Frozen (decent movie), pushed the movie button on my harmony remote everything starts up as it should, hit the play button..... no sound. I spend 20 minutes looking at everything I can think of. Then just when I am going to give in and tell my buddies I can't figure it out, the wife comes in to tell me she is leaving, sees me with panic in my eyes, politely asks me to come in the other room and tells me I forgot to turn my amp on, I had forgot there is not a trigger on for it. Could have been worse, she could have done it in front of my buddies. ~ ross
  15. I would say get the RS-42 II, can't hurt to go with the newer speakers, or on the otherhand if you like to listen to a lot of music I would suggest the second pair of 61's. Either way I would say you can't go wrong. ~ ross
  16. I agree, I use my PS3 as well for BR watching, streaming netflix, streaming Pandora I even use it to stream music from my laptop through my wireless network, very cool feature. There was even a update recently to handle 3D movies if you have a TV capable. I would stick with that before I would buy a new player. ~ ross
  17. it's the same here I went to BB and sure enough all the klipsch icon was out and B&W was in. ~ross
  18. just to through in my 2 cents, I have had really great performance with my Intergra DTR 6.6, it dose not have HDMI but does have preouts, I saw several on Ebay from 200 - 500.00. Just make sure check the model number there are some that do not have preouts, I think 5.8 and above come with them. ~ross
  19. I tried my RC-62 with the a set of Heresy II, just didn't seem to sound right, I have read others on the forum that have said they liked the synergy C series center with some of the heritage line, such as Fortes. Maybe some others will chime in that have tried something similar. Good luck ~ross
  20. Hey nice setup, I really like the floating shelf setup. I also have a wife that will come in and point something out very obvious to me.....after the fact. If you wanted to, and yes this does come from experience, just make a couple of risers and paint them black to raise your towers to be the same level with your center. Looks awsome, even better once the wires are cleaned up [] ~ross
  21. My room is similar in size and I found that for me 7.1 just didn't work. Not enough space for proper speaker placement. I agree that a 5.1 setup looks like the way to go IMO. I agree that you should look for a 83/64 front stage, I did have a 82/62 though and really liked it. Might also consider a bigger sub, I used a RW-12D and still upgraded to a DIY project. Anyways, Welcome, post pictures and good luck!! ~ross
  22. I agree, I think that I would upgrade the surround next, then look at upgrading your sub, as mentioned before look on CL and find a great deal if you can. I don't know much about your reciever but you can check to see if you can your sub option to both your mains and subwoofer untill you can upgrade. Congrats on your purchases though. ~ross
  23. I really don't think that you would be happy with the 52's, I have been down that road and it was a bit on the costly side, I started with 52's went to 62's then finally matched up my mains with the 82's. Remember I am a music guy that likes to watch his movies as well though. Just been my experience that matching mains to surrounds when using floorstanders seems to be the way to go. I did the RS-42's and sold them in three days just wasn't for me. In the end I should have listed to a couple of folks on here and went with the 82's to begin with. With the matched front and rears remember that will be 8 - 8" drivers plus your sub rockin that next explosion scene you watch. Here is what I was using across the back before I switched to Heritage, a total of 10 - 8" drivers plus my RW-12D at the time, it was very sweet. [] This is just my opinion, not trying to steer you towards one thing or the other, with the Klipsch reference you really can't go wrong.. Good Luck, have fun!! ~ross
  24. If it were me, I would match the mains with 82's, I had a setup just like that before I switched to Heritage, and it really sounded awsome eventually I bought a set of RB-81's for rear surrounds, and it was sweet. If you are looking at the 52 vs. 62's well then I would go with the 62's. They will match up better with the mains than the 52's will. If you ever did decide to get another set of 82's as surrounds then move the 62's to rear surround duty and sit back and try to stop grinning the next time you watch that fav. movie of yours.
