  1. Have the house to myself this am to crank it up. Jl hits 110 db spl at the listening position about 13' and hits 120-125 at 1' from the sub in reference mode.
  2. All lights work. Demo & A.R.O. calibration work great (just tested over the weekend). All switches and level controls function perfectly. My photography isn't the best, (need lessons from Youthman) there are probably a few rouge fingerprints and some dust in the cracks, but the unit is in mint condition. My velodyne sits on top of it but has heavy rubber feet that do not scuff or mark the JL. thanks for looking... Please be advised, I am going out of town on Tuesday for business for two weeks, so if you want to get this thing shipped, we'll have to have a deal by Tuesday or it will have to wait.
  3. Sub has always been hooked up through a surge protector. When I am out of town, it stays off and then when I am home it is on auto, so still off for the most part.
  4. Nice solid box with rubber balls attached to the bottom for extra protection. Sub has nice fake leather baggy for mic, mic cord, instruction manual & white gloves. Nice heavy cloth bag to throw over the sub during shipping or if it is just sitting for a long time.
  5. 10 - Mint condition. Everything you would get from the factory is included, all original packaging. The owners manual has a dog ear on the cover. I will get you some pics
  6. Had my uncle pick it up, so I haven't seen it yet. Going to get it in a few hours. I will probably re-cap it and replace my 2226b with it.
  7. SCORE!!! Guy was moving out of state and just looking for a quick sale. From the pics, it looks to be in mint condition.
  8. I have been looking for a future upgrade as well. The Audyssey features are sort of hard to follow but I am pretty certain that anything with XT32 also has SubEQHT with it.
  9. I bet you could get away with just using a nice receiver and your system will sound great. Onkyo, Integra, Denon, Marantz, Yamaha all sound pretty darn good IMHO. I don't think any of them these days are way better than the others, just the features with room correction processing seems to be the big variation now a days. Separates are nice though, no doubt about it. And a good amp should last you decades. I felt that adding a separate amps was well worth the expense in my setup, I have never heard a speaker that didn't benefit from better amplification. A nice receiver will set you back about ~$1200 NIB. Where as a decent amp(s) and separate pre-pro is going to run a good bit higher even on the secondary market. If possible, try to borrow a receiver and a pre pro / amp set up from a local shop to demo. Most shops do this as long as you have a deposit.
  10. Alright. Santa brought me a nib Epson 3020! Got this sucker mounted up and ready to go except for a hdmi cable. Wife wasn't having my DIY AT theater screen hanging in the room, so we're getting a 106" proper pull down from best buy on Friday just in time for the wild card. I am pretty stoked as my rc64 will still be perfectly at ear level and right at the bottom of the screen. I never would have went over $1k for a projector. Will post a little review and pics when time allows.
  11. I love my jl. It is hands down the best component I have ever owned. Originally I thought a second one would be perfect, and for the most part it would be. Without a doubt, two would be plenty of subwoofer for just about any and every occasion. Unfortunately, I am looking to throw breakers and do structural damage to my home with truly out-of-this-world levels of bass. Most of the people I have talked to about this recommend going with DIY 18's. I just don't think I will be satisfied with multiple jl's, especially at 2500 a whack.
  12. Piano black. I know, huh? I thought someone would have been all over this locally. Winter is brutal and perfect for home theater and our economy is good. I have had it on Craig's for about a month and nothing...
  13. Building 4 18" subs, LOL, just like you and scrappy...
  14. That is sweet! You might have told me, but what sort of SPL are those things hitting?
  15. Thanks Scrap. I am not planning on having any speakers behind the screen. My 83's will be flanking and my RC-64 will be just below. I agree that would be a serious problem.
  16. Thanks Dave. I literally cut mine out on the way to the airport and didn't have much time to examine it. I initially thought about going with 120" screen but will probably back that off and aim for 100" - 110" depending on what sort of bargain projector I can find. This should be just fine for an entry level experiment. If it doesn't work out, it can easily be thrown out in favor of something better.
  17. You very well might find something more suitable off the web. I am looking forward to building my own screen, but only because the theater was right down the street and it will only cost me ~$40 when it is all said and done.
  18. I made my own cork mat a few months back and didn't notice a difference in sound. The rubber mat on my thorens works just fine.
  19. I am out of town, but perhaps Dave can send you a close up picture of the screen material. It is white vinyl with (from memory) 1mm holes every 1/2" or so. In a dark theater at distances at or greater than 10' I believe it will be just fine. I have read online that the main compromise using movie theater screen at home will be roughly ~10% loss of brightness. I would be interested if anyone else has more info. Obviously, this a very DIY, low budget, entry level solution. Scrappy. Where did you get your screen? Monoprice has a ton of stuff from basic pull down screens starting around $70 up to the in ceiling motorized drop down, 4 layer tab tension units for $1600.
  20. Thanks for the heads up. Absolutely not in a hurry and don't mind waiting for prices to come in. I don't have any experience with projectors, so any advice is welcome.
  21. Under $500, epson 8100s on ebay for $250ish look good.
  22. Looking for a decent 1080p projector. No 3d and must have hdmi input, fairly quiet fan if possible.
  23. Nice! I will take you up on that sometime. I didn't have time tonight, but am going back in the morning to get some wire and a chunk of screen.
  24. All the amps were already poached Dave, did you get them? Any thoughts on jbl 2242hpl 18" subs NIB just the speakers? Lots of 4645c and 3310 speakers too. Seems like all the at screen and industrial 12 ga 2 pair speaker wire you could ever hope for.
