You mention the ESR. Well I just wonder what the ESR of the NOS caps will be. IF they are 10 to 12yrs old the ESR might be higher than desired and might be much higher than a single 30uf Solens or such. Just something to consider. Parts Express has the Solens 20uf 400v caps for 8.99 each.

Has the HEISMAN everr gone to a player on a team that lost 5 games in a season? I kinda doubt it.
Gerhardt is a great player. Unfortunately, running up a bunch of yards in 5 loses against mediocre defenses won't get it done. -

The Panthers? Didn't they just get Claussen who has been running that same Panther offense at ND. Heck, he could probably start! As I understand it, they run some of the exact same plays. Panthers probably had the best draft of em all.
If your not watching the NBA then you are missing out on Kevin Durant. A rookie avg. 30 pts a game? Then on defense he shut down Kobe the other night in the 4th. (he was like 2 for 10 or something similar) But hey, if you would rather watch reruns of House then so be it.

I would be interested in test data comparing these characteristics in the many new cap offerings out there. I wonder if there is a "study" of such on the net. Not so much the subjective differences in how they might sound that folks get caught up in, but rather hard data such as ESR, Q, D, etc.

Its what you would use to plug the dock into the wall receptacle. If that is a big black thing its probably a transformer and those can go bad.

I'm just wondering how other new caps would test vs. these Solens. Also, is there a direct relationship between ESR, Q, and the sound characteristics of new caps. Yes, I could easily hear the difference between worn out high ESR oils vs the new Solens in my Belles. But could I hear the difference the many new cap offerings out there a person might try? I know these things can be so subjective.

Does the docking station have a "wall wart" or "hockey puck" on the plug. Usually this type of transformer goes bad and can be replaced which would save you from replacing the whole docking station. You might investigate that possibility.

So if you charge the Itouch elsewhere before using the docking station to listen to music all is well? If that is the case then I would suspect the docking stations charging system not working anymore.

Have you investigated to see if its the amp or driver? I'm assuming it has an 18" driver which would be pricey. Under warranty?

I wouldn't worry about the drivers. I would just listen to the speakers for any problems. The proof is in the pudding you know. My 35yr old Belles were in a music studio and still have the original drivers best I can tell. Caps were shot, but that was all they needed.

Automatics are ok for certain rubber coated wire, but try them on small real slick plastic coated wire and they ain't so good. I have several pair of autos sitting at the back of the bench. The Kleins I mentioned are better all around. Maybe I just prefer the simpler things in life.

Heck, clean an extra roof this week!
Therer is certainly a direct relationship between the way an old capacitor sounds and the ESR/Q of that capacitor. I have an old Seeburg crossover that sounded terrible. I checked the ESR of the caps and the numbers were real high on both networks. (IE: 2.5, 1.7ohms, etc.) I'm ordering new caps fot those crossovers now.
