I had the same problem with a very nice Denon receiver. It took me 18 months to get the settings correct. It sounds fantastic now. I was setting up the manual equalizer for each channel but I didn't have them turned on correctly. I had the same problem with volume as well as a lack of mid range and base. Good luck. John

I have purchased many audio components from sellers on ebay. The units usually require $2-300.00 in repair fees fixing what they represented as good working unit. It's a buyer beware auction site. -
Is the output higher on the commercial amps because of the Balanced Output? or is there more to it than that?? John

"If you treat the woofer as a "generator", the signal it sends back to the amplifier is dissipated by the DC resistances along the way (voice coil resistance, cable resistance and source impedance across amplifuer terminals). Just considering the impedances involved, I would think the signal associated with this about as large as a flea fart." My friend builds speakers for a living and tells me the same thing as John has stated. Any feedback from the low end speaker seems to distorte the high end less by biwiring. I personnally think that it only serves to sell more speaker cable.

"Would you use a stipper to get the finish off or just sand it off?" If you can afford a stripper to get the finish off, it sure beats sanding it yourself. -

I just went through this excercise and I ended up with the Pioneer. I wanted to spend the least amount of money and still get DTS HD Master and Dolby Plus, anyway the latest audio formats available. There are several new Yamaha units out that met the requirements but because they are selling them so cheap they cut corners. (check out the speaker conections on the back.) The RX-V665 is very nice unit but I don't think it has the latest codecs for audio. I saw the Pioneer VSX-1018AH-K at Best Buy for S300.00. It was an open box deal and the model has been discontinued. What is a guy to do?
