2 GLADIATORS.....musical fidelity vs marantz, who won?
quadklipsh replied to quadklipsh's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
wow. nice stuff there sandy. im sure you are in that audio bliss every now n then . what kinda room you have , are you any bothered with room reflections and all. i cannot actually think of investing in a better gear lest i correct my room sonics . they never gimmi the bass and oomph i crave for at moderate volumes and above . it seems im lacking 30 60 and 90 hz severly. no juice in these regions. and yes coming back to marantz, i do have my deepest love and heartiest feelings for any old marantz gear .i owned PM44 marantz and boy it started me to it . then the second was a pm 74 and then 2230 , all very sweet and robust in their build quality . id sure like to look for these separates that you mentioned . lemmi know your comments [] -
today was a ceremonial event at my home . and after lunch had been served people sat outside in the lawn in the sun and enjoyed some music and chit chat . my whole family had almost come . around a hundred. and usually i have to arrange for the music . i was thinking then i had it done . i took my RF3s out on the big terrace and the cd player and the marantz 2230 . 30 watts is all it has ,but boy it got loud enough to rock the party ,aplenty .and it was only less than half way turned up. had it been my kenwood towers , 88 dB speakers , i cannot imagine running a show with this poor amp. considring they were placed one storey above the listeners .lolz. thanks to 98 db sensitivity

MARVEL... those 2A3s must be wonderful! i saw em and look terrific . how many watts per channel there ? KT 88s in there ![] hows these amps are compared to integrated transistors , luxman etc ? -
yeah but can you define whats the main thing that differs RF7s here from RF3s. is they very different tonally, or in imaging capabilities , or is it just the mega difference in power handling. and how loud can the RF7s go practically in an average 15 by 17 feet room, using a good old 300 watts ,per channel amp.

i have just purchased these for 3000 rupees , can any one who have heard em share his experiences ....i am enjoying them , but seems like they need an amp .....

coz i think theres a lot of room for improvement in those ............. for instace ,BASS, could have been better and deeper . and fuller . maybe i have never played em in a great room with great acoustics thats why im not knowing their potential at the low end. highs are the best iv had . maybe a bit lacking in the mid bass region where a few other speakers iv tested ,beat them! -
would this forum die soon ? fingers crossed

Groomslakearea51 thanks mate !!!! ... thats really heartening me . im glad . -
how do you define the differences between these two , sonically . iv heard and read tonnes of goodies about RF7s here on this forum and elsewhere .its a jewel of a speaker to conclude. know it and well i have been dyng to acquire either the 7s or a chorus II, but my pocket has only driven me just about enough to get the little ones . the RF-3s. and i see they demand a neat amp.

guys , i have a question , if prices are not an issue ,(both around $600) would an integrated amplifier designed for pure class A be your first choice instead of a pure tubed amplifier designed for class A or AB ????? im considering buying musical fidelity A1 while comparing it to a ukranian made 50 watts tube amp having EL 34 tubes (replaced the broken, burnt, originals) the amp is aka PRIBOJ 50.. pls advise and tell about sonic character differences of these gear .... thanks
