  4. Hi folks. Since this forum holds discussion of the ipod and the likes ,I d like to post here my query. I have been using an ipod look alike from another cheaper brand XPOD. Its been just a day at it,and while I'm getting deeply impressed and satisfied by its sound through a quad 33 pre amp and marantz 2230 power amp,I cannot understand why I did NOT Get this kind of good healthy rich sound with bass and oomph from my stock sony x33ES cd player. Plz don't mind but its mp3 format that I am playing.and when I play the same songs after burning a cd for the cd player , the sound is ,well, not as exciting. Is it that a cd player is not used to mp3 format playback? Or is it that the cd player is more accurate ,and distortion free than this poor/ cheap xpod. And the added distortion adds that pleasure to lows and overall grams. In the sound ????? Please comment . tc, dr sherry RF 3s

  6. Our electronic markets are full of japanese electronics . midi to mini calibre . And often the pioneer ,kenwood ,technics ,sansui ,sony fill up the shops like anything! Before I had this current gear ,I also had a sony and one big 5 pieces sansui system. Both systems being midi. Speakers like klipsch are a celebrity here. Infinity ,jamo, advent, jbl, and onkyo are also common But not as often as japanese ones . Still ,the very best of hifi is far from available!!!! Only enthusiasts purchase em overseas or import em,but Those systems never show up in the markets . They are shared between peers . This is what goes on here . Hope you understand now . Forte II is never seen in the market ,in my 10 yrs of Audio hunting.
  7. Hi all. My new agenda now is to find any klipsch owner who lives near me. I live in cantt ,lahore, pakistan. Id love to know and befriends . So let me know if you see this post. Also share what gear you've got ! Thanks in advance ?
  8. Yes. It is unsatisfactory.no one knows klipsch repairs here the way bob crites or others like him do I'm sure the quality of coils is no match for the originals. The electronics would change. The sensitivity and power handling. So I can easily assume that the forte is no more a forte ,when repaired here.
  9. Are you guys saying that chorus 2s r twice as many available as fortes? Well A dvd shopkeeper is selling chorus IIs. He's been an old worker at the shop.for last 20 yrs They have had those choruses, second to none. And with that said ,they are still asking 800bucks for those That's my 65000 rupees The rear 15inch woofer of one,has a 1x2 cm torn area. The paper cone eaten or something. I do like the chorus2s but that room of those 10 by 30 feet dimensions have never made an impressive sound to my ears. I offered him $550,but he's stubborn at 800. He says u can get the neighbour dvd shop store's JBL L80s, if you like. And those jbls in those similar sized room do sound much more bass loaded and visceral, and impress instantly. But those are not for sale . I'm not saying that I'm unhappy with RF3s ,but a change should be brought now after A year of their purchase. Life must go on ,with changing of colours hehe. What to do ?
  10. i was looking forward to buying a forte II, which i had known for about two years at a friends home, where i had auditioned them for the first and last time . i just came to know a bad news . that those are a repaired pair .and i mean the coils were repaired in both the 12 inch woofers and also in the tweets. i sadly return home today .too forlorn,as fortes would have been a serious upgrade to me from my reference 3s. they are so hard to find here in lahore .and also that the guy had agreed to sell me for only rupees 45000 ($540),which was a good price to pay for them here. now what else do i look for ? i have no ideas which other speakers can lure me like them.i was in love with fortes .
  11. Bro I have been in the same fix from a few months of owning These towers . Depends what you expect from them and obviously the room Acoustics play a big role. Mine got better when I toed them in directly at my face (Gave deeper soundstage).and also my thirst for the deeper bass Bass slightly alleviated ,when I placed them opposite the solid wall ,as opposed to large 10x10 feet window pane wall, covered with Curtains. Also they sound dramatically neater when placed 20 to 25 inches from The rear wall. And 3 feet from the side walls .in my 16 by 15 Feet room they are 7.5 feet apart and 9 to 10 feet from me. Hope that helps you partner !
  12. Mike, U didn't bother to reply back then ,that's why I repeated the post. Hehe. Now I have some feedback and incomings, thanks to all who responded on the L 100s.
  13. dear all Hi there ! OF my brief experiences with JBL L100s And L80 T , and klipsch chorus II . I have been wondering ,which is the way to go , for me . I listen to various genre. But I usually have my cd rack filled with yanni's cds and vangelis and pink floyd . I like buddha bar mellow bassy songs . I carry cds of rock bands like survivor vital signs, and Eagles and beejees . My personal favourites being the following songs: The Voice,by roxette. Sorrow, pink floyd. High hopes, pink floyd. Nostalgia, by yanni. Last of the mohicans ,kiss , by vangelis . Forgotten ,by joe satriani. I like micheal jacksons human nature , u rock my world , who is it , and we are the world. I like the bass guitar played in any music/song. It just brings out that life outa music that I love to hear !!! Are there any buddies out here who would pick one over the other speaker. I love to crank up too. Enjoy concert levels in my room.and hate distorting speakers . I love music played clean and crystal through speakers that have power to show and have hunger for more to go through em. Speakers that blow you off the couch, and deliver detail with every bit of clarity ,the cd has to offer . Can u suggest from among these . I love to keep klipsch . But somehow jbl does attract when it comes to bass . What do u say ?
  14. I was wondering , Did marantz make any of those 22xx series amps without the loudness control switches, and bass treble controls? I think a flat design is so much more mature sounding ,compared to those that are tone controlled. By mature I mean neutrality and naturalness. Marantz pm 44 was the one that got me seduced into MARANTZ. Amps for life ! And it is a flat amp. I'm sure there must be some flat design of that series . Also Wud u agree that such a generalization exists as above !
  15. The general notion says, "Klipsch loves tubes " Well Any speaker would shine out pretty lovely with tubes , given that its a good 90 plus db Sensitivity speaker . I heard a jbl xpl 200 with art audio maestro tube , rated at 100w each mono block. And the bass and highs were breath taking !!!! wot to talk of klipsch there ?;( Anyways the point is ; Wud a 300 dollar tube amp be better than any of those solid states or integrated amps of similar price ? Or wot ? Please mention your experiences ,not generalizations ,thanks .

  17. Is there no comparison between the two ? Having said that jbl and klipsch have two different sounds. If jbl l80s and chorusII run down to 45 hz and 39hz respectively ,then why do we feel more goody and Visceral in the lows of jbl ?
  18. My quad 303 gave the MF A1 , a run for money . Ofcourse I experimented with RF3s ,sb3s and celestion9, with both amps ,ABed. To me musical fidelity was much revealing of the recordings with the quad being a bit mellow And laid back, which I preferred for longer listening. that's just my humble opinion .and yeah u could cook an egg over that MFs heat sink ,lolz, it goes truly hot!!!

  21. Well Thanks for all those views Now Here I go a bit technical My new query is..... Since forte have a bigger sized woofer and passive speaker too, Is that gonna be a concern? Coz I'm currently running these Rf3s with this 45watt quad 303 amp, and the more I crank up, the more stressed I feel ,whereas at the same volume knob position ,my 88db speakers kenwood LS 707M towers don't sound strained ! Is this klipsches property to reveal distorting amp,or is it just that my amp likes low sensitivity speakers? Also Wud forte2 match better than rf3s with quad 303?and how much are they gonna be room setting friendly, compared to RF series ??
  22. Hi there all, My cousin has found me a pair of forte IIs, which I plan to buy in Exchange for my RF3s. My plain n simple question from u experts is,whether I wud be Justifying this purchase ,if I would be running them with my meagre powered QUAD 303 amp(45 watts/ch) . I have another option too though. And that is to run em through my marantz 2230 vintage, 30 watts/ch,amp. I have learnt that fortes wud best my RF3s, by a fair margin. Sonically they r more vocal oriented ,hence more musical. That's wot everyone who owns em says here. If I cud sell him my RF3s for 500bucks and get fortes for around 570, wud that be a good trade . I have other amps too, which are above 100 watts /ch, but they sound like cinema oriented home theatre amps. Not musical, just digital. Wot do u suggest . Aah n yes ,the guy also arranged for a combat , side by side audition of the two pairs of speakers,RFs and fortes. give ur opinions plz. My preferences are to keep the speakers that sounds gr8 with instrumental music and vocals ,and has better oomph.
  23. great amp!!! i have its smaller brother 2230. and rf3s. im very happy with its powerfull mellow sound with whatever speakers i play it on. just let me know how it handled ur subwoofer, im sure it must be very powerful and gutsy . adios!
  24. hey iv been in that league too.i have a marantz 2230 recently bought (1 month or so ) and coupled it with my RF3s. the result was lovely. under rated 30 watts or wotever marantz said about them back then, these take my speakers wch are 98db,to very high levels without sweating. however the 2230 also drove a pair of my technics bookshelf speakers 86db, to room filling levels at 11 oclock volume knob position,no problem. and the sound is very soft and mellowy.thats y i bought em. i also used the pre amp section of my 2230 and coupled my quad 303 power amp (45w). the mellow sound persists .the power remain the same , but the separation and highs got 20 percent better . no doubt quad 303 is still a better amp. but i think u should not decline any 22xx marantz if its in a"just plug in and play" state . i am now looking forward to buying a higher model, like 2325 or 2285. just to keep it in my collection and enjoy musical delight , the marantz is known for !!!! adios
