I am thinking of a Japanese parallel here.  In the case of Isamu Asano, who developed a SE DC 2A3 amp, of Japanese acclaim, his son Tadashi  took over the design upon Isamu's demise, maybe around 2006.  Tadashi did two things I detest, to his Dad's circuit !!  For one, he added a negative feedback loop to the SE 2A3 amp, so it plays out of time to the music !!!  Secondly,  an other questionable change was to add hum pots, to the 2A3 filaments.  He interjected a diode effect, between the pot and the wiper's contact, to the critical signal path of the 2A3 cathode's return to ground................... without engineering it properly.

Wolfbane, I feel you are barking up the wrong tree, looking for older Shindo gear.  It will not be that high in audio performance !!!  There are people in the USA who build good stuff.

You probably should look for a 8 to 12 watt Push Pull amp, with NO NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, and a great low DCR power supply, if you run traditional vintage Corner Horns.  The vintage Klipsch speaker, with a three way crossover, and inefficient wiring, excludes the optimal use of the very best SE amps,  ( which would typically be with 2A3 outputs, 2 to 3 Watts or so, that we have discussed. )

The best SE amps need to be used with a highly efficient speaker that is ideally at most,  a two way speaker.   I run a two way speaker at my home,  and I won't  use any crossover at all, on the 15 inch horn-loaded woofer.  Just a roll-off on a compression tweeter driver.  ( 515B, 802D, A7-8 ).  Sometimes, less is more !!

Surely, someone makes a decent no feedback low power Push Pull amp in the USA , with a good supply.  Not 6BQ5 amps, but Push Pull 6CK4s, 6AH4s, 6AQ5s, or 2A3s could be made to really PERFORM and run rings around what is available !!!  If you did DIY, I'd develop plans for you to follow !!

Well, that's how I see it, my opinion.  YMMV.

    Hi Jeffrey,

I'm pretty sure most people here could build a better amp or anything else that requires soldering expertise. I'd also probably burn the house down trying.

I do have a buddy that can solder in his sleep and pretty much do anything with electronics that a professional shop can (he quickly resolved an issue with one of my tube amps a couple of years back that the local tube amp expert could not (was getting a slight buzz in my Klipsch Belles at low volumes from a hairline crack - not visible with the naked eye in one soldered joint on one capacitor). He is not returning from his job in Montana until next May at which time I plan to help him build a new workshop on the rural property he purchased. In exchange, he will very likely 'help' me analyse, repair, upgrade, or build anything I need a hand with. In both cases, I'll be the chief assistant and he's the journeyman. I have the skill to build an excellent (all galvanized screw wooden fence with 6"X6"X10' posts and no sag gates) and do most mechanical work on motor vehicles & can match him in this regard as we have done lots of this kind of work together since meeting in High School, but I draw the line at doing body work on cars/trucks (he can and does do all of his own body work). I also don't like rebuilding automatic transmissions and changing gears in differentials (he does this too).

Never, say never, but I'd need to really up my skill level if I ever decide to get into soldering.

I would be Shindo from the time period Shindo was alive. I'm not sure what happened after his death. Still great looking gear.

Yes, I'm looking for an amp, preferably lower wattage and maybe SET from the days of Ken Shindo's design work. His son Takashi has taken over the design work from Ken's death in 2014  for new products but an original Ken Shindo amp would be a nice  match for my pre-amp.

Chuck isn’t retired by luck ... he makes people pay for his opinion.  i haven’t been to a theatre in six years or so.

Saw it yesterday. I would have preferred to see them cast Christian Bale as Shelby and Matt Damon as the primary car driver (Ken Miles) or someone else in the movie.

OK maby the DVD or BR, haven't been to the movies since 1988.

Some movies need to be seen on the biggest screen possible. This is one of them. Too bad this wasn't made for Imax or in 70mm.

Don't want to say anything to give it away since our bud Wolfbane is seeing it soon.  A lot of folks from Philly say that Leo Beebe was not accurately portrayed though.

Everyone quite liked it. I'd watch it again. I do, as mentioned above, think more time spent showing how they built the car and how they shoehorned in the Ford 427 V8 would have been interesting. I also missed seeing more clearly the historical sponsorship by Gulf Oil of the GT40.

I'm surprised there is so much interest in a movie about a woman named Carroll and her dislike of Italian enzymes.

Got my four tickets purchased for tomorrow’s show here. It’s forecasted to pour rain for three days so I get to see Carroll, Henry Ford II and the GT40 kick some Italian a$$es.

  6. Any recommendations for a Shindo Labs amp to match with my SL Preamp? Authorized Dealer here, unlike home so I can request a listening session for specific models. No Klipsch speakers there though.

I prefer something in the 15 to 25 WPC range, not KT88 based. EL84 or EL34 or something else SE within the WPC range specified.

So my wife, the electronic technician, recently diagnosed and repaired an issue with one of my Quicksilver Silver Mono Blocks. God bless her! So now she wants to build an amp or a pair of mono blocks. I have started researching kits but thought I would ask you all for any recommendations. Want something that looks as nice as it sounds.

    Michael H. Kenyon

For the crime novelist, see Michael Kenyon.

Michael Hubert Kenyon (born c. 1944[1] in Elgin, Illinois) is an American criminal nicknamed the Enema Bandit. He pleaded guilty to a decade-long series of armed robberies of female victims, some of which involved sexual assaults in which he would give them enemas. He is also known as the "Champaign Enema Bandit," the "Ski Masked Bandit", and "The Illinois Enema Bandit".[2]

    Attacks and convictionsEdit

The earliest attacks Kenyon was accused of having committed were on two teenage sisters in March 1966 in Champaign, Illinois.[3] Kenyon graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1967 and left the state. The attacks thus ended in Champaign but started anew in Manhattan, Kansas; Norman, Oklahoma; and Los Angeles, California.[2]

Kenyon returned to Champaign, and the attacks resumed, in 1972.[4] In May 1975, Kenyon took a job as an auditor for the Illinois Department of Revenue in Lincolnwood, Illinois.[5] He then committed additional attacks, including on three Cook County flight attendants.[6] He also attacked four women in an Urbana sorority house, one of whom was administered an enema.[1][7][8] He was involved in a minor traffic accident later that night, but was not arrested.

Kenyon was eventually apprehended in suburban Chicago a few weeks later in connection with a number of robberies there.[9] During questioning he began to talk about the enema bandit. After his arrest he was judged to be legally sane; in December 1975, he pleaded guilty to six counts of armed robbery[10] and was sentenced to six to twelve years in prison for each count, but was never charged for the enema assaults.[11] He was paroled in 1981 after serving six years. [12

C'mon man, I was hoping for a resounding YES from the car guys on here.......I really wanted this movie to be GREAT!!....At least it doesn't sound like a flop.... Sounds like they did some credit to the story.... How can you really go wrong about the TRUE story of the GT40.....I do want to see this movie... If I get bored I'll go see it in theaters..... But i guess i might as well just watch the real story on YouTube or Motortrendondemand or something...... Why can't Hollywood make car movie...

I saw it yesterday. The cinematography, sound, acting of Bale/Damon were are all darn good. The story as a whole was pretty middle of the road. Absolutely linear start to finish. Why no flashbacks to how Shelby/Miles came to be who they were? Why not a bigger focus on why Ford needed to change their cars? So many lost opportunities to make a story on the level of Apollo 13 or Saving Private Ryan. I love cars, Detroit, that era but it just came up short. Almost zero details on the making of one of the greatest cars ever. They did show a measuring stick and talk about the GT40 being 40" high....yawn. Henry Ford II and Enzo were an afterthought, very little attention paid to their characters. The Ford exec that was Shelby/Miles antagonist was down right terrible. Honorable mention to Ken Miles wife, that actress put in a good performance but could not save it by herself.

I really wanted to love it, half way through I wanted to find something to like about it. In the end I wish I had watched pro football and rented the Blu-Ray to watch in my more than adequate Home Theater a few months down the road. I had the exact opposite experience with The Irishman the previous weekend. I think The Irishman got me to go see FvF in a theater as I had not been in a long time prior. I was ready to fall for Hollywood/theaters again. That affair lasted exactly 9 days, Friday to the following Sunday:(

C+ maybe squeaks out B- if you were trapped with your relatives over a long holiday weekend and needed to get out. No way is it a see at all costs in a theater movie. Surely worth renting.

Trapped with my eldest daughter and her sig other. Neither are car people, she has paddle shifters in her car and never uses them. But have not seen either for more than six months so not feeling trapped.

To make a long story pretty short.  I had a very serious medical condition in July of 2018, 3 1/2 months in the hospital and about 13 months in a physical rehab center.  Well I'm back home now and I finally had a chance to listen to my 2 channel system.  It consist of a Peach preamp, an Njoe Tjoeb CD player, two MC250's and vintage Khorns.  Well I turned the system on and it worked fine, at first.  Then I turned the channel balance knobs on the peach and got a bunch of static from both speakers.  I turned the system off and turned all of the knobs numerous times.  I turned it back on and let it play for about one half hour.  There was no more static when the knobs were in the same place, but the static started again when I turned them.  Should I spray the controls with deoxit and see what happens or do you think there is a more serious problem?  I don't want to damage anything.  Can leaving a system idle for 15 months cause any damage.

Good luck and best wishes for a long and healthy life!

Hey guys I have a situation and am looking for some advice. I posted my speakers here and ebay and craigslist. I got a commitment from a guy with no reputation on Ebay who wants me to send the speakers to a different state than he lives in and he is paying me full price, + shipping and giving me an additional $300 for a gift card to include in the speaker box. I just received payment through paypal, what are my risks here?

I'll be digging some warm clothing out next week. A fall/winter storm... with rain!! Talking snow to 6500ft. Interesting set up. Cold ramming into a late season tropical disturbance coming up western Mexico. Could get exciting east of here. NM, TX east of here.

Be cutting some wood this weekend. It will be a week after the rain stops before I will be able to get out.  It takes a few for the water crossings and things to dry out.

    Not normal.
