  1. I am in bliss (finally & for real) Wow, this little Nakamichi has done something I have never experienced before. I would like to attribute it to the new, vintage Yammy but I have a lot of experience with these amps. It is the Nak For lack of a better term, the most amazing separation I have ever heard. Simply put, incredible! Thank you, "cincymat" !!! Matt ♪ ♫ ♪ edit: now we are having fun A little bi-amping fun that is. Carver on the horns, Yammy pulling in the lower end. Sir Mookie Rocks

  9. Yes, interesting. My experience: I use wifi to transmit to my laptop. Connected to the laptop is an NAD wireless DAC transimitter which then sends the signal to the NAD DAC receiver at my pre-amp. Many times, I have listened to the exact same song, back to back, from my 3 available sources (CD, Spotify, Pandora). Spotify has a very slight hand up over the Pandora. However, CD (hardwired) play and Spotify are so close in sound quality the result is a tie finish (hence, selling my CD player). I did all of this to try and find weak spots with the NAD wireless DAC. I was very suspicious the unit would perform up to my expectations. To report, I am happily delighted with the NAD wireless performance. For me, this eliminates the question of using wifi to transmit my signal (vs hardwire). Just my experience... Matt ♪ ♫ ♪

  15. Yes, you are correct. This is a "stereo amplifier" (aka 2-channel) as referenced in your original question. You must have a pre-amp, also know as a control amplifier to run a stereo amplifier (separates). You are going to find this type of review and comments about most all generic type amplifiers. This is not your typical, generic amplifier. Example, I have had several Rotel amps that sound fantastic with my Klipsch. At the same time, I had one power house Rotel that lasted mere days in my system, it sounded horrible. Also, and I don't know why, there are Yamaha haters out there. The quality and design of the Yammy M-series is top notch (IMO). This beast weighs over 50 pounds, that is not 50# of plastic... I am not trying to convince you that this is the amplifier for you. I like vintage Yamaha gear and just noticed this one is across the pond, perhaps a reasonable shipping distance to your door. There are MANY fine amplifiers out there. I think you may be looking for an integrated amplifier or a receiver rather than a stereo power amplifier. +1 Matt ♪ ♫ ♪

  22. The 85 is my favorite! I have had both the M-80 and an Onkyo M-504 at the same time so I was able to A/B the two. Hands down, Yamaha took the cake. Not talking about power output but rather the actual sound of the amplifier. They are both power house's. Comparatively, the Onkyo has a much more sterile sound and did not play as well with the RF-7's I had at the time. Those old Yammy's are just sweet!
