  1. Thanks for the input! I am siding toward the RX-V663. Does anyone else have any other opinions? Do you think a different receiver would be better? I am open to any ideas! I am planning on purchasing tonight.
  2. Yes, I tried it. I brought it upstairs just to make sure. Also, other things do work on the plug that it was plugged into, so I know it is the receiver...thanks for the advice though! Any ideas on what receiver I should get?
  3. So I got home from school and I was going to go enjoy some good music. Just my luck, my receiver doesn't turn on at all. I checked all of my cords, I tried undoing all of my connections, I tried different plugs, it is just dead. I knew it had some problems, but I wasn't expecting it to just completely die on me. Well, long story short, I need a new receiver. I am looking for something cheap that also has pre-outs for if I want to connect an external amp in the future. I was looking at either the Yamaha RX-V665 or the Yamaha RX-V663. I have heard several things about Yamaha skimping on the amp in the RX-V665 and that the one in the older RX-V663 was much better. Cnet even said that the RX-V665 doesn't sound quite as good as last years model. Is this true? What receiver would you recommend? Thanks, Jake
  4. Klipsch are very nice speakers for music. They are very precise and you will be able to hear every detail. Some people believe they are too harsh, but it depends on what you like. You can definitely match the klipsch with a good receiver and they will produce a sweet sound. I have a pair of RF-62s and only listen to them for music. They sound Great! There are several different amps that you can use. You will just have to listen to them and find out. Yamaha is know to be a little more harsh and Denon is known to be a little bit more mild. A lot of people like the way Klipsch speakers sound with Marantz. It all depends on what you like. Personally, I have my RF-62s hooked up to a Yamaha and I love it! Good Luck!
  5. That's a first for me too. If I were you, I would ditch the cabinet, get a nice tv stand, and put those babies on the floor (right side up []).
  6. The RC-62 is a big step over the RC-52. You will hear a very large difference. Why stop at the RC-62, you should check out the RC-64![] Your receiver will have no problem powering the RC-62.
  7. so what are you waiting for? rip those bad boys out and get a stand for the tv/equipment and get those speakers placed properly. 3/4" plywood on top of those cabinets might make for a nice workbench + storage solution. I agree! What are you waiting for! Those RF-7s are amazing speakers. If I had the money, I would get them in a heartbeat!
  8. The RS-42 will work nicely with the RF-62s, but I would recommend the RC-62 over the RC-52 because it will match the RF-62s better and will provide a more seamless sound through the front three speakers.
  9. The biggest difference you will hear between the RF-62s and the RB-61s is that the RF-62s will have a larger sound stage.
  10. That is a pretty dang good price for those speakers! I got my RF-62s for $550 + tax for the pair and I got a RC-62 for $312.50 + tax. You probably don't need the warranty plan because Klipsch speakers already come with a 5 year warranty, but it's up to you. By the way, don't forget a subwoofer!
  11. Wait, you have your RF-7s upside down?
  12. Good luck! Let us know how it works out in the end! Post some pictures when it's done!
  13. Because most people do not have the luxury of placing a main speaker in the center of their room. It's primarily a space issue. The reason three identical speakers are a good idea is that there is 100% seemless transition between each speaker since they are identical. So is would sound better for me to have 3 RF-62s instead of my two RF-62s and My RC-62?

  15. This really confuses me, I always thought it would sound best with a center because about 80% of the vocals come from the center? If it would sound better to have the same speakers as your mains to be the center, then why did they ever make center speakers?
  16. Thanks for the advice! I think I will wait a little while and save for a nice receiver and make do with what I have for now as long as it isn't hurting my speakers. I too think the sub-12 will be fine, my room is not very large. I will! They normally won't even think about getting me speakers. Thank you!
  17. Yes, everything sounds VERY clean! They sounds amazing!
  18. Until I can get the proper cleaners for cleaning, is having one speaker louder than the other harming my speakers in any way?
  19. I don't think it i a connection issue because I have tried both zones (a and , different sides, etc. and the same issue continues. I think my receiver is just giving up on me.
  20. Thank you! I have saved for so long for these speakers and it all has paid off! I couldn't be happier! I tried that and then I tried switching the speaker wire and the same issue continued. As I turn the volume louder, my receiver starts to go crazy, sometimes there is a big difference in the loudness between the two speakers and sometimes there is a small difference. My main question is: Is this harming my speakers?
  21. DeOxit? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what does that mean?
  22. I haven't been able to post as much because I have had a busy week. Last week I walked out of my electronics store with a new pair of RF-62s and a RC-62. I got the pair of RF-62s for $550 and the RC-62 for $312.50. I know I was told by many to get the RF-82s instead of the RF-62s, but that was when my parents stepped in and wouldn't let me get speakers as big as the RF-82s (I hate being 14 =/). When I got home and listened to my three new speakers sing, I was amazed! I was also planning on getting an RW-12d to go along with my speakers, but once again, the parents got in the way. Now, they are getting me a Sub-12 for Christmas. Now that I have my new speakers, all of the sudden my receiver is starting to crap out on me. I have a an old Yamaha RX-V520. I know it was probably going to stop working on me soon, but I was hoping it would last until I could save up some money. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The problem with my receiver is that is makes my left speaker louder than the right. I did all sorts of tests and I even hooked up a different receiver just to make sure. It is definitely the receiver's fault and not the speaker's. My question is that can one speaker being louder all of the time do any harm to the speakers? It is not a very large difference, but it is noticeable. Can this affect my speakers in any negative way? I would like to save and buy a nice receiver, but if the one I have now it harming my speakers then I will sell some things and buy a new receiver sooner.
  23. With the different series of speakers, some are better than others. The synergy and icon-V series are the lower quality Klipsch speakers and the Reference is the higher quality series. Are you looking at the Yamaha RX-V665? 90 watts per channel will be plenty for your speakers. Klipsch speakers are very efficient and they don't need a lot of power to be able to sound good. As for the sub-woofer, you should definitely go with a 12 inch sub, if not two 12 inch subs because you room is so large. As far as sounding the best, you should stick with having all of your speakers from the same series.
  24. Everyone says plasmas are the older technology and that they are "going out" but the newer one's do not use as much electricity and they don't get as hot. To me, a lcd's picture could never compare to a plasma.
