  1. Just a really quick search on CL in your area turned up a guy selling RF-3's ($650) and a RC-3 ($150). That would be a very solid front soundstage. Not the best deal I have ever seen on RF-3's but: a) they are local, so you could listen to them you can always haggle, nothing wrong with trying to get a better deal. I would say if the guy is really motivated, and you offered to buy both (RF3's and RC3) you could get him down to the $600-$650 range. And, if not... then move on down the road. No skin off your back.
  2. Fire, I would second what Blu said about the best five speakers, except I will take it a step further and say... Get the best front soundstage (L/C/R) you can, and use your Bose until you have saved enough for proper surrounds. 600-700 could get you a pretty solid L/C/R to build onto. That was around my budget when I got into this thing and I started with RF-25's and a RC-35 (obviously I had to do some serious searching and found pretty good deals) that did me really well. I have since sold that set-up and used the money from that sale plus some saved money to get what I have now. For me, the name of the game when starting out is patience. Really scour ebay, craigslist, and other places for good deals, they are out there!!! I have found through this forum and from personal experience with friends/family that when people try to get everything the need in one big purchase, they are sometimes dissapointed because the end up with lower quality stuff just because the wanted the conveinence of buying it all at once (and buying new). Does that make sense? I feel like I'm rambling, sorry. Anyway, all of this is strictly my opinion.
  3. What is your speaker budget? That might give us a better idea of what options to give you. Are you opposed to buying used speakers?
  4. hart, very nice, clean set-up!
  5. Good for you Blu!! I've always found Sony to be just a bad match with Klipsch. I'm glad you like it!
  6. Nice lookin' unit Blu! Looks new (not used!), more importantly... How does it sound?!?!?!?!
  7. First of all, welcome!!! So much great info on this forum!! I can't comment on the Synergy line, I haven't heard them. As far as the RF line goes, I really enjoy my equipment. I had RF-25's and a RC-35 (which are the predecessors to the RF-62's and RC-62), and I loved them. As far as your budget goes... Are you opposed to buying used? I purchased every speaker in my system (see signature tag) for well under your $2000 budget. Patience is the name of the game. Jrod
  8. Welcome Wayne!! As far as receivers go... Onkyo (incredible for movies), Yamaha (good all around), Marantz, Harman Kardon... Wires... monoprice.com or Blue Jean Cables. Both sites offer good, quality, inexpensive, speaker cable. I use 12awg from monoprice, does the job!! Good luck, let us know what you get. Post some pics!! Jrod
  9. stxman, I did A LOT of research (as I always do before making a big purchase) when shopping receivers, I looked at the 6004. I couldn't find it in my price range, but I wanted it badly. It had everything I was looking for, but I found my Integra (got a good deal) for a good price. From what I've heard (read) Marantz sounds really good with Klipsch. Let us know what you end up with!!
  10. carbon, it really is crazy how well these speakers hold their value. It's kind of like an investment (that we get to enjoy everyday). Especially with Heritage gear... I want some Heritage so badly. I feel like I have some Herseys comin' my way (birthday from the 'ol lady), I can't wait!!
  11. You're right dtel, Indy gave it a great review, he's the reason I bought it in the first place (and the fact that I love MJ). It's worth every penny!
  12. I second EVERYTHING Youth said, it's very, very good. I don't know about the DVD, but the BD is a must for even the smallest MJ fan.
  13. I really think you'll notice the difference in the Pioneer. I've just never liked the sound of Sony with Klipsch. Sounds like you are getting a heckuva deal, BTW! Good for you, you know we love our good deals!!! Obviously, I want pics!!
  14. They are a fantastic band and have a FANTASTIC concert BD. They are originally Okies (partially why l love them), but now they rule the world (Rolling Stone mag's band-of the-year 2009). Great for Klipsch speakers, a true ROCK band.
  15. If you like DMB at all... You will love it! It's my music demo. It was specifically shot in HD with BD in mind, the musical mix is insanely good, easily the best I've heard. It helps that I've seen Dave 10+ times, and pretty much love everything he does. Do you like Kings of Leon at all?
  16. Great review Youth!! I agree with everything you said. I bought it, sight unseen (unheard) because: A: I LOVE MJ, and always have! B: IndyKlipschFan (I think that's his name) gave it a great review himself, and I think he knows his stuff! I watch it once a week, for music it is tough to beat!!! (I do LOVE Dave and Tim at Radio City, and KoL at the O2!!!!!) I'm glad you enjoyed it!!!
  17. What blu-ray did you decide on??? "This Is It" is fantastic!!!
  18. You are one sick puppy, Youth! You JUST mounted those RS-35's! Haha!! I'm glad you got a good deal! And, I'm glad you like M&C!! Was I right about it being your new "demo disc"?
  19. It doesn't seem like it would be... But, the PS3 really is one of the best Blu-ray players on the market. Obviously, the Oppo is amazing, but as far as price and capabilities (I'm an average gamer) the PS3 really can't be beat!!
  20. Your Pioneer decodes the HD codecs (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA)... You don't need a new receiver or blu-ray player. PS3---->Your receiver (via HDMI) = HD audio. Cancel your blu-ray player order (IMHO) and save some $$$! Jrod
  21. You are lucky I live 1898 miles away... I'd already have them!
  22. My last MP order consisted of 50ft 12awg, a digital optical cable, and a wall mount for my Panny. Everything was right on the money. The cables were inexpensive and did their jobs, as expected. However, I was most impressed with the wall mount. It was VERY solid and once my girlfriend's dad and I got the mount on the wall, it easily could have held my weight (180lbs). Since that day I haven't had one concern about my tv going splat!!! I enjoy getting a great deal, but was obviously nervous about buying a tv mount from some company I had never heard of, what eased my mind was the 150+ reviews that rounded out to about 4.9/5 stars. When I saw multiple people putting their 60-inch KUROs on the mount, I felt pretty safe putting my 50' Panny on it. Oh, yeah...................it was $24. Needless to say, I love monoprice.com. Jrod
  23. If you can find a Velo, snag it! The thing is to do some research (basically what you are doing now), find a company that is well respected in subs (Velo, Elemental Designs, SVS, HSU, Klipsch higher-end, etc...), then find the model(s) that best suit your room/gear. Then be a craigslist, ebay, audiogon LURKER! Seriously, look everyday, but be PATIENT. The saying "Rome wasn't built in a day" is perfect for home audio, very rarely will you find some one that "completed" their system in a short period of time. I sure as heck didn't (I'm not done!) and neither did Youth. You, like myself and Youth, appreciate a good deal, for me it makes my speakers sound that much sweeter! I was patient and found what I considered a heck-of-a-deal (RF-82's, RC-64, RT-10d all mint, from a Klipsch employee, who gave us a tour of the corporate HQ, and demo'd Palladiums for my girlfriend and I for......$1500!!). So, good luck with your search! And, again, don't be shy with those pics! We'll even take a "work-in-progress" pic!! Jrod
  24. Trust me... It's gonna work out!! You and I have the exact same front sound stage. IMHO the 64 sounds really good with the 82's, you'll probably have to adjust the levels a little because the 64 really puts out some sound. But, once you get it set, you'll love it. If you have questions feel free to ask! Enjoy your new gear! And, oh yea, post some pics when you get everything set-up! Jrod
  25. If I had a nickel for everytime my girlfriend called my speaker endeavors stupid, I'd have a nice lookin' set of Khorns!![] As for your friends tonight... Do it!! I demo'd M&C just yesterday for 2 of my friends, one of which said "I can never watch movies on my tv again." I was like, "sorry, dude". I tried to get him to pick-up my old gear (rf-25's, rc-35, sub-10) when I upgraded last month, but he passed. Kicking himself now!!!
