  1. yeah- figured the sound would suffer-even with the surrounding foam and the fact they are from ported. only way like you said would be to encase all three sides with some sort of fabric-like a lot of people do on their side columns in home theaters.
  2. My first plan was to purchase RF7-RC64 for my front three once my room is done. I don't have a false wall, so speakers will be exposed. no biggie. But was wondering if I could save some room up front and maybe have a cleaner appearance. So was wondering If I have some enclosures built along the side of screen instead that would house some RB81ii's instead. having the front portion enclosed with some black speaker cloth to hide the speakers. I saw these pics online and was wondering if would be a good idea or not. will it affect the sound quality of the speaker a lot you think. Or maybe just stick to my original plan? side note-not sure its relevant. room is 14.5 x 23, surrounds will be RS62II. rear surrounds will be same or maybe RB61iis (haven't decided yet). main part of ceiling is 10ft. with 8ft. Tre ceiling encompassing room. I don't have subwoofers or receiver/amp picked out as of yet.
  3. I'll bet if you have the Atmos installed and working properly, you won't regret ti. I hope so. I'm coming from an older 5.1 system. never even had 7.1. now I am set up for 9.16.
  4. I don't have atmos (yet). but my room is all wired up for it. so I for one am looking forward to it. If it doesn't work out in the future- well I have some nice in-ceiling speakers then. no biggie.
  5. I vote yes too. I recently sold off my RF7-RC7 set up. I had bought a couple of pair of RB51s during the time they were blowing them out. So for the fun of it I set up a 5.1 system in the living room using all rb51s. where I used to have the RF& set up. I have to say-not too shabby. I didn't expect it to suck, but wow, I thought it sounded pretty damn good! Of course I am using a pretty beastly Mirage BPS400 with them, but still pretty good for little guys.
  6. thanks for the pic and info. I am planning on getting the RF7II set up with RC64. I like how it this stand fits that center.
  7. I may be getting this for my home theater. I was going to to built in. but this pretty much has everything. I like the add on feature with fans too and black out glass option. I would get the black version have it blend right in with front wall.
  8. I get what you are saying, but for some reason I have resisted. I bought my RS-35's from Youthman about 3 years ago and since then have had local opportunities to "upgrade" to black RS-52's(also Youthman's), cherry RS-52's, and RS-62's(also Youthman's). All were offered at hard to pass up prices and very tempting but I just did not budge. I really was(am) happy with the RS-35's and how they mate up with my RF-63/RC-64 combo. Bill your upgrade willpower is strong. Most in this hobby fail miserably when it comes to resisting the need to upgrade. I am guilty of this big time.
  9. I'm sure they will be fine. but as you know we all get the "what if" bug. The never ending trading in & up for the next thing.
  10. yes the 52's are still boxed up. Never used them. I did open the boxes just to inspect them ( I do that with everything just incase). I paid $600 a pair for them. I guess I could go down a bit on price, but its tough when you start to add in shipping costs. Thats what I get for jumping the gun to soon.
  11. wow- didn't expect the 61's to be so much beefier than the 51's I have. Should make for nice rear surrounds. Now it makes me want to get the RS-62II's for sides even more now. If I had known the home reno/addition would be taking this long I wouldn't have bought the 52's so early just to have them sit in the boxes for months on end.
  12. I ordered up a pair of 61's for the rears. thanks for your input. Just need to order the big 3 up front and that should be it.
  13. good to know. I guess the big question is then. Monopole versus Bipole? ( not sure exactly what to call the 52's) would be best for rear surrounds.
  14. thats just it. If I go with the 61's for rears than I would use the 52's I already have for both sets of side surrounds. I bought them new a while ago ( still in the box). If not then I would have to mix the exsisting 52's with the 62's ( 52's on wides and rears. 62's on side). So I guess that was my original question. which setup would work the best. I guess it would be ok to mix either of these combinations. Just want to make sure I utilize the best combination. I don't want to use 52's and RB51's because the 51's are rear ported and wouldn't work out in the location I have planned.
  15. If I went with the RB61's then I would most like pull the trigger now on them- since stock is dwindling fast, but they are still available for a decent price. I'm glad they are front ported. gives be more options as to placement in that area.
  16. well it depends. If I go with the RB61's for back surrounds then I have a bit more time I think. If I go with RS62's as side surrounds then depending how fast they start to sell I may have to purchase the whole system a bit sooner ( I save money on the surrounds if buying with whole system). Also to note-the rear surrounds will be about 13-14ft from MLP. and about 7ft. or so from second row of seating. not sure this is a factor deciding between the to options.

    thread error

Hi, not sure if this is the right way to address this. but seems a thread I started yesterday has a data base error- just wanted to inform the right people, thanks. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/157461-suggestions-for-surround-setup/
  20. I know I am late in the game for any chance of getting RB81II's new. As of now I have two pair of RS52IIs new in the box. But in the future I will be buying RF7II package. Setting up room for 9.1.6 and will need something for rear surrounds. 3 pair of CDT 5800's for ceiling speakers. Was wondering if its better to get RS62!!s for side surrounds ( new ones coming in July from what I was told). And using 52's for rears and front surrounds. or buy a pair of RB61IIs for rear surrounds and use the two sets of 52s for the side surrounds. Suggestions? quick breakdown: Option 1: 2 pair RS52's for side & front side surrounds. RB61II's for rear surrounds Option 2: RS52's for front surrounds and rear surrounds. RS62's for side surrounds. Room will be mostly movies- but also surround music from time to time. thanks
  21. very nice- can't wait to order some up soon. congrats
  22. well this is all I have for now. But at least its starting to look like a home theater. Plaster will be done tomorrow. then have to decide on color scheme.
