  1. Eventually I plan to build false walls so I can use them as front. Just hasn't happened yet.
  2. Looking for a nice ampifier to go with the Integra DTC 9.8 upgrade I am buying from my neighbor. I'm running Heresy's as Center channel and fronts with Klipschorns as rears. I'd like to keep the price under $500 for a used unit. Thanks and looking forward to the responses. Tim
  3. Sounds like for now the 650's are the right choice. As we work thriough the year, we can add the rock speakers if needed. Thanks, Tim
  4. Man that honey-do list will keep you busy. Thanks for the input. Tim
  5. We have a very large patio 15'x50' and are thinking about adding outdoor speakers. I'm looking for a Klipsch model people on the forum would reccomend? Considering the size of the area, how many speakers will I need? Thanks, Tim
  6. I currently have a vintage Luxman receiver with Industrial La Scala's set up on my patio. I believe the Luxman receiver is in it's final days. I'd like to keep it simple by replacing it with another receiver. Any recomnedation?
  7. That is exactly what I have been doing. I have them maybe 10' apart slightly angled in. Then I have my chair about 20' away centered to the speakers. The weather in Central CA has been nice and sitting outside, listening to the music has been awesome! It's like listening to a concert. My kids have been telling me their friends down at the end of the block can hear them... Never thought I'd have my kids telling me to turn down the volume! []
  8. Thanks Gary. It would be nice to know the exact age, but not a must. They are awesome speakers.
  9. Thank you Roger for your comments as well. I may not know the exact age, but at least it is narrowed down a bit. Tim
  10. I was hoping the 1st two digets of the mid range k55 driver being 77 meant they were built in 1977. Oh well. At least they are approx. 30 years old. It is amazing speakers can sound so awesome after that many years. Thanks for the input. Tim
  11. Hi Michael, the midrange driver is a K55V. The tweeter is the round K77. The serial number on the midrange is 77449. The crossover is AA. Doe sthis help? Thanks, Tim
  12. Here's a pic of mine... Maybe I'm not seeing something?
  13. The serial numnbers are on the terminal cup. Similar to this posting from the forum.
  14. They are one piece. What condition were yours in? Mine have the normal wear you'd expect on the alluminum. Corners are all in great shape. The black glass is in perfect condition. I've attached a picture. I have them set up on the patio w/ a couple Heresy speakers. Enjoyed listening to them for a couple hours today.
  15. I've been trying to find out what year these are manufactured. I know they are La Scala Black Fiber Glass. Can someone tell me the year and what value a pair in very good condition would be worth. Thank you, Tim

    I'm done

I've been there myself a few times. 1st it was putting together a nice woodworking shop. I changed out the tablesaw (4) times. 1st it was an older Unisaw, then a X5 Unisaw, then a beautiful General TS and finally I restored a 1966 Powermatic Model 66 TS. This is the one I use today. At one point I had 5 table saws in my garage. I can't recall how many times I have bought nice tools only to upgrade it with a better tool within months. It became very addictive to buy and sell on eBay or CL. I found myself scouring craig's list just to find the next deal. When I decided to build a home theater cabinet and system, I found myself doing it again. 1st it was (5) heresy's for my surround system. Now I have a pair of khorns too. The system I am using could easlily be much better. But I'll stick with it for a while. We are all enjoying it. I think what's important is that a person realizes they have an issue and are willing to do something about it. Best to you Mark! Tim
  17. Well I moved the Khorns into the living room today. Very pleased with my decision to keep them. Attached are a couple pictures of before and after... most of the issues were cosmetic. One of the tops had a candle burn. Replaced that top with one that Noah provided. Notice the discoloration on the top cap. Unfortunately, the owner had not oiled them since the day he bought them new. Both speakers looked faded all over. I replaced the top cap cloth provided by Greg. I think I spent about 8 hours oiling them. I replaced the Tweeters with Bob's CT125's. I'll listen to them for about 6 months before I make any decisions on crossovers or horns. For now, they sound and look pretty nice!
  18. Thanks for the reply and the PIAx2 comment. With that said, I think I will enjoy listening to them for a while before I take this on. Thanks, Tim
  19. Glad I asked... wow! Looks like by the way it came off that it may be glued as well. May be I'll make a piece that is 1/4 taller and thicker and route out the inside the size of the molding. Kind of like a walnut cover Thanks
  20. On both of my walnut khorns, the lower base molding is in pretty bad condition. Just curious to know if it is glued to the front veneer panel or just brad nails. If it's just nailed, I think I'll replace them with solid walnut. Thanks, Tim
