  1. Thanks for all the input. I found a smoking deal on a used Marantz SR7001 so I pulled the trigger, although not the newest I feel it will fit my needs or I hope it will. I'll post back once I have it hooked up. Last thing I need is a center channel to match with my cornwalls (fronts) and Heresey II's (Rears). Anybody run a similar setup with a Academy center?

  2. I've never owned any of the mentioned brands so I'm not loyal to any of them just looking for something that will pair well with my vintage set. Unfortunately we do not have any good electronic stores in my area to listen to different brands. With that said I will most likely be making my decision based upon advice given on this forum and ordering online. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

  3. Hello- My current setup consist of 2 cornwalls 2 heresy II's a Nakamichi 2A and cambridge CD Player. This setup sounds great when listening to CD's. However I would like to enjoy this great sounding vintage setup all the time. So below are the additional sources I have that I would like to hook up. Seeking advice on a HDMI receiver that will allow me to do this, price point is around 500.00. I would be selling the Nakamichi and replacing, any suggestions?

    1. XBOX 360

    2. Direct TV Receiver

    3. Blu-Ray Player

  4. It does look like "cat scratch fever" to me. I think by the time you had it repaired you would have spent almost as much for the one listed on ebay. I say get that one and be done with it. Those are nice speakers and if you ever decide to sell them I think you would be able to get rid of them quicker if the pass rad was replaced rather than "patched". Good Luck!

  5. I listen to Sirius via my iphone with the dock going to the receiver. I also like Pandora and Slacker as internet radio.

How does Sirius sound, I have it through Dish Network with all the HD channels and the quality is not any better than my over the air radio stations by far, and much worse than a CD.

It actually sounds pretty good, I think I paid an extra 2.00 a mth for the "CD Quality" subscription.

  6. Sorry if this is a duplicate post, I searched but could not find what I'm looking for. Does anyone have a complete list of McIntosh tube gear (Tuners, amps, pre amps)? It would help to have a complete list of McIntosh tube gear for research purposes.

    Thanks In Advance.

    Jerry

  7. Jerry, not sure what you're looking for. That Nak is a receiver, not a power amp, so it's all in one box. Should sound great with the Cornwalls.

Yea lol I'm an idiot and don't know what I need to run these cornwalls. I seen online where NAK sells a CA-5 and a PA-5 but not sure if I need anything besides the TA. I'm only hooking up a CD player and an ipod/macbook attachment for sources
