I like silver bearing solder for its higher melting point. I don't want my solder joints softening in the middle of "Sweet Jane".
But I did soften (and ruin) (all) 4 subwoofer voice coils on the next song after "Sweet Jane" some years ago.

A little punctuation goes a looong way.
If I were building, I'd start with Belle Klipsch plans and extend the center to a point, like a La Scala and extend all 4 outside walls that same distance. It will look like a La Scala, but with a longer bass horn.

You may be getting close to the broken in point. The bass output changed quite a lot in the first 3 or 4 days, but I also fed them dub step and other heavy bass music at moderate volumes 24 hours a day for about 2 weeks. Mostly had the bass knob maxxed, too. I was surprised how much the low bass increased over that time.

One passive crossover, designed for the impedance of all 4 woofers together would be the simplest.
From your description, they are either two 4 ohm woofers in series for 8 ohms and then paralleled for 4 ohms, or each pair is connected to its own terminals on the back for two 8 ohm connections. That would allow for driving them with 2 different amp channels, right?

If you add 2 R-115 SWs or 2 SPL-150s to your 112SW, all placed mid-wall, you will likely have a nice setup and have the very low bass distortion similar to your La Scalas. You may have to work on subwoofer phasing.

EXCRUCIATING! Could not watch it all. Not at all accurate. Maybe he is mostly into dubstep or something else weird. After having mine since January, all that talk about imbalance and the horns taking over at high volumes is blarney. The H IVs are some of the most tightly integrated speakers I've ever listened to.
Putting them on stands *will* require a subwoofer. When placed as Klipsch suggests, they will adequately reproduce a low E from a bass (41.2 Hz), but not much below that. However, for most music, that is all you need. If you remove the room reinforcement, that bottom 1/2 octave or so would fade away.

It seems you are implying it. Wasn't it Stereophile that gave them their top rating. I'd say that is rarefied territory and $12k is a bargain compared to other speakers in that category. As expensive as they are, Klipsch has always played above their pay grade.

Well, the Heresy IV is a home run and not too big. The bass goes just deep enough. I've heard Forte IIIs and liked them, too. They are a little more well rounded; the passive radiator adds deeper bass. I think some of the RF series might be satisfying. Give them all a listen,

Define "military style weapon". "Style"? Really? Detail the difference between your "military style weapon" and a Remington 7400, a gas operated, magazine fed, semi-automatic rifle that fires 7.62 NATO cartridges.
It is legal to hunt big game with an AK-whatever in my state. But you forget the sole reason for our Second Amendment is to ensure the citizenry has weapons on par with the military. That way we can overthrow an opressive government, just like we did in the Revolution against the British. No other justification is needed. No other should be asked. If you remember, the first battle at the Old North Bridge in Concord, MA was to prevent the British from confiscating powder and bullets to disarm the colonists, I.e. gun control. Tyrants never give up that.

If Moray's link is correct, you will not readily improve the components.

DC resistance for a K-77-M should be close to 7.2 ohms.
A tweeter by itself doesn't sound good, or natural. Their power handling is so low, it is unusual for it to fail any other way but open, showing infinite resistance. They are not like woofers that can get hot enough to partly unwind the voice coil and rub the magnet.
Check the DCR. If it is normal, look at the crossover.
What are the serial numbers?

Roger, the Type HIE is a Type AA modified for the K-700 horn and K-42.

Robbie, use air-core for both. A Litz wire inductor for the 245 uH may make a small improvement. They measure a little better at those frequencies, anyway. Klipsch did not use Litz.
Yes, all you need to do is add 3 parts. Note that the .35 mH inductor is my mod and not part of a true Type AA.

RF-83s are so new I dont think any one is making an aftermarket crossover. Until they are around 30 years old, there should not be a reason to change or refresh them. Why do you think they need new crossovers?

Should be an easy design, with all the T-S parameters. But, it is an engineering design The size of the box may not be to your liking if you don't have a suitable woofer. You need a woofer to go down to 40 Hz, f3, to cover the typical music range. I like BassBox Pro. I've found it easy to use and its operation encourages comparisons.

La Scalas (and Belle Klipsch) are great for bass. They reproduce little low bass because the bass horn is short.
