  1. yeah the epson has been up and running for about 6 months now. Very happy with it. I built my own screen for very little monsy and it came out great. Blu-ray is amazing. As a matter of fact I am using it right now to type this post! lol....I have my PC and PS3 hooked up to it all in the man cave. My brother inlaw has the epson as well. He got it about 1 year ago and it is still going strong on the original buld. They are rated for 4000 hours of bulb life but I guess we'll find out. It took me a bit of time to find the right settings for my use and conditions. I think you will be happy with the purchase.
  2. I love that loft you have...is that an office up there?
  3. Yeah I run F2 floorstanders as surrounds...love it. Although I was using little HD300 sats as surrounds before so it was a BIG change in size.
  4. NYT...."unuseable"? Really? I saw the pictures of your HT.....perhaps you have a better sub idea for $300 range?
  5. yeah I read that post too....sorry bud.[]
  6. Upgrading is always good...just ask wuzzer about his upgraditis! lol But seriously I would get the best center channel you can afford (thats works with your fronts). Some of the upgrades from the 10 a quite large though so make sure you have the room for it.
  7. Newegg.com was selling the sub 12 for $349 shipped. add $3 to expedite it and you'll have it the next day....at least thats what happened to me. Full 30 day return policy as well.
  8. I am using HD300's for my rear surrounds. I purchased 2 sets of HD300's as my second foray into Klipsch products. I used 1 as a full system until I recently upgraded to sysnergy F3 system. I was pretty happy with them. I bought my second set for my Dad and he has yet to use them. His basement/manroom build has been on hold for now. I would be willing to sell the brand new set if your interested. I also have the Promedia 2.1's in my bedroom and am happy with those. I don't think you can go wrong with any Klipsch product. Obviously the smaller sets like HD300 and HD500's are limited for volume but they still have great sound quality for the price. I don't think you could go wrong with quintets or any of the HD300-1000 set ups.
  9. another option I thought of would be to buy the RF surrounds that match your bookshelfs. Then get the RC62 center. That would give you almost the best center you could get (rc64 is out of your budget) and then when you have extra money you could just purchse a set of floorstanders that match your current stuff. Move the rb-61's out wide or in the back (for your 7.1) and you won't have to touch your surrounds.
  10. You can get abrand new pair of F2's for $360 shipped right now. Most on here will tell you that synergy does not measure up in terms of sound quality to the RF's but I would disagree. I have heard almost every klipsch speaker out there (except the heritage stuff and ultra super high end stuff). All were via home theatre set ups and not with music as I rarely listen to music. The F2's are a quality set of speakers. You can add the C3 center for $200 from Vann's and you'll be set. You really need to listen to the speakers to be able to judge for yourself. Those will set you up for a while until you get the upgrade bug. I feel like I am set for a few years....next upgrade is the THX Ultra's!
  11. I have the C3 currently. I ran it with F2's for a couple months before I upgraded to the F3's. I also had the C2 with the F2's. I personally think the C3 is a better match for the F2's than the C2. I think most people would agree that the perfect center channel is the same exact speaker you are using for your front mains. However most people don't have room for a big floor stander under their TV. The C3 has the same size driver and woofers as the F2's. Only size and the lack of a port make it different. I beleive this is the best match for the F2's. That Vann's deal is a great deal as well. Keep in mind that I am no audiphile. I love the synergy's and for the money I just don't think you can get better speaker's.
  12. I would say that is a good deal. $650 for the RF82's alone is an ok deal but add in the RS42's at that price and now we r talking. I'm sure you'll be more than happy with the purchase.
  13. ...and this would be the odds and ends of the room. Dehumidifier....Beer Fridge....Air Filter on top of the fridge to keep dust down. Router..cable box..PC..and the F2 My "industrial" light switch at the top of the stairs. Cat door in wall allows for cat access to scratch up my speakers when I'm not home! It is right behind the dehumidifier Needs no explanation: ...and finally the old Polk Monitor 60's I "upgraded" from. I actually liked the polk's quite a bit for their price ($225 for the pair shipped)
  14. Now for the front mains and the center. F3's and a C3. This is my C3. I built the shelf it's on out of oak and stained it "Onyx". Thought about painting it flat black to match the screen boarder but the oak is too pretty to hide with paint. Pay no attentin to the foot! lol...you can see the holes in the wall behind the C3. I had previously mounted 4 HD300 sat's there and was runing that as my center. It sounded pretty good actually. However I bought into the upgrade"itis" and bought the C3. The holes are not visible from the front or the sides really as the C3 is quite and hides it well. I do plan on patching those holes and painting the wall the screen is on a darker color that what it is now (Gloss white) I see now that I am posting this next pic that I forgot to put the oak plugs in to cover the screws on the brackets. I went through the trouble to stain them I should really use them! Just a front shot from the vewing area
  15. Ok so now I'll show ya'll the speakers. You already saw 1 sub...this is my second sub. It's hiding under my chair. The wires you see is where my keyboard hooks up for pc gaming. ok we'll start small with the speakers. These first 2 are my left and right rear's. They are Klipsch HD300 sats These nest 2 are my regular surrounds. They are F2's
  16. So here are some of the other components bd/pc/ps3..ect. That is my AVR Onkyo TX-SR608 It sit just outside the room with cables going through the wall. I am in the process of building a shelving unit and moving some more things outside the room. The HTPC ps3 and my old HD300 sub hiding in the corner. That is the sub I am looking to replace with a Synergy Sub 12
  17. These are of the projector set up. It is an Epson 8500UB. I countersunk it into the back wall. The room behind is just open basement so it was really easy to run the wires and set up the projector box. Even though the projector is front vented I want to add a small fan to the back of the box for more air movement. This is the back This is the picture it puts out. I have my screen set to 97 inches. Any larger I found to be a bit annoying on the eyes. As you can see from the previous pics the seating is about 8-9 feet away. Under the stairs is where most of the equipment is. I plan on moving the router and cablebox outside the room in the future...there is just too much messy wire thing going on. Messy wires! All are basically hidden unless you look hard. The main viewing area is totally clear of wires so that was most important to me.
  18. Ok here is my basement home theatre/man room. Please forgive the furniture as it is all old apartment stuff we pulled out of storage on a temp basis for this room. I eventually want a giant fluffy sectional. I like to lay down when I watch movies and games so the theatre seating is a no-go for me. ok so those were the basic layout pics. These next couple are of the screen for the projector. The screen is made from a sheet of masonite with some "special" paint on it and a bsic flat black border for a crisp edge. Just a close up of the square edge. I still have to cover the nail heads and do some touch up painting.
  19. Would'nt the second picture be your L and R channels?
  20. I have listened to all 3 synergy floorstanding speakers. Also listened to the RF82, RF62, RF52, RF83, RF63, and the RVX-54's. They all sound great let me say that up front. You almost can't go wrong with any of those. That being said...I would go with the cheapest pair you can find that match your receiver/amp (meaning power for power). No point in getting a 100 watt speaker if you can push 150 watts with your amp ya know. I personally like the looks of the synergy series the best. I just recently moved into the F3's and I love them. Slightly more bass from them vs the F2's I was running. Although with a good sub that won't matter that much I think. I don't have a quality sub right now so that's next. It's nice to look at specs for some things like RMS power and size. Don't get caught up in the numbers/upgrade game based on specs though. Listen to the speakers yourself. Try to make sure it's all the same baseline (like maybe purchase than return if your not happy) or go to a local shop that carries the reference series and listen to them all. maybe my ears are not as highly trained as others on this forum...but I just don't agree that all RF series speakers are better then the Synergy series. I can't speak to the larger classics like horns and Lascala's as I have never listen to them (would love to though). Let your own ears decide for you. It's so hard sometimes (especially when internet shopping) to decide. We get caught up in tech specs and try to justify a higher priced speaker. But higher priced doesn't always mean "sounds better".
  21. I just put a set of F3's in my man room. Replacing F2's. I would like to get my hands on a sub 12 soon. Although the F3's seem to handle full spectrum especially lows quite well. I have a similar sized room to you, mine is 17x11x8. I had the C2 with the F2's and I was not happy with it. I thought the C2 was over matched for the F2's. I tried the C2 with my HD300 set up and I thought that worked really nice together. Then I bought the C3 and that worked great with the F2's. I will say that so far I have not noticed a marked improvment going from the F2's to the F3's. Although I am awaiting my next netflix bd arrival so I can really test it out. Not to jack the thread but just curious what you thought about the difference between the F3's and RF82's?
  22. well....I know shipping won't be cheap but....$100 at most...and if you sell them to me for $200 then thats $300 total. Good deal (as long as they are great condition)
  23. how do you like it? What have you had in the past to compare it to?
