  1. Although the new Marantz line seems highly regarded I have yet to see a review from a regular joe. So basically if you want to know you better buy both and compare. I would really love to have the PM15S2 and have seriously considered it but I'm very pleased with my 2245 for the time being so I think I will wait. Not to mention I just purchased a Classe integrated, a luxman receiver and a set of Altec model 19's so I better back off the wallet for a bit. They are beautiful though!!
  2. **UPDATE** After having the RF-63's for a month I decided to trade them for the Chorus I's and the Quartets. The RF-63's created an awesome stereo image and had very smoothe response but in the end they just didn't do it for me. So my current lineup is Quartets, Forte I's, Chorus I's and Klipschorns. That should keep me busy for awhile doing upgrades and such. Cheers!
  3. Yeah, I should really get around to doing that.
  4. I have to admit that the RF-63's have really impressed me with their smoothe response. I have heard the Chorus' and like them very much as well. I do already have Khorns and Fortes so maybe I should just stick with the RF-63's seeing how the Chorus' and Quartets are in the same family of sound as the Fortes.
  5. Well, I think he would be using them for home theatre whereas I would be using his for music so it seems like a sensible trade.
  6. Would you consider this a fair trade? My RF-63's for a set of Chorus I's and Quartets? Both are in nice condition.
  7. I actually ended up purchasing the 63's. I really didn't expect the newer referance Klipsch line to have much to offer but I am very pleased with these speakers. I've only had them a for a few hours so I will report more later.
  8. I understand what you're saying but if someone is completely content with what they have then who are you to tell them to move on from it. Not everyone is looking to have the ULTIMATE setup, some are just happy listening to the music. I meant no disrespect with my comments, I just think you should appreciate and respect someone like that. Quite frankly I wish was more content with what I have as I would definately save a lot of cash!! Cheers all!
  9. $50 dollar cables? Time to move on. I've been through enough cables to know that the more expensive ones are far better. What a goof! The lower wattage vintage receivers are often preferred over higher wattage ones for their very clean and balanced sound from top to bottom (providing you have efficient enough speakers).
  10. Okay, thanks for the clarification. Thanks for your response as well, hopefully others will chime in with some opinions too.
  11. Nope, I wouldn't miss a mortgage payment to buy speakers (not that it's any of your business). As long as they have something to offer then I may be interested. If they're continously going to be out-performed by my other speakers then why bother.
  12. Okay, so I already have Khorns and Fortes but I have the opportunity to buy some RF-83's at close to cost. They would mainly be for music and maybe a little for movies. Are they worth getting or am I just wasting my money? Thanks!
  13. Considering its likely around 35 years old it is definately a possibility. What are the symptoms? Often they just need to have the controls cleaned. I would say $200 and under is an alright price for a 2250b in good condition. I know close to mint ones will fetch around $300 and maybe more on epay.
  14. Fortes are giant killers! Hmm, nice to know about the RF 63's. My local Klipsch dealer said he would sell me a set at cost so I'm considering it. He's a very different cat this fellow. He runs an old school stereo shop where he sells the new Klipsch line and the Pioneer Elite series. The place is in a very rundown part of town and the building is literally falling apart. I can't help but think the end is near for him so it's kind of sad (his shop that is, although he is pretty old too). I still can't believe that he allows his patrons to just put down a down payment for the stuff and make payments for the rest. All in house with NO financing company! All he asks for is your name, address and phone number. Who in their right mind does that these days?? A dying breed in deed. I live in a small city in Canada with a pop of 50, 000 and somehow he got ahold of used Khorns! I think they may have come from the local university but they're mine now! Anyway, I support him anyway I can by buying stuff from him and recommending him to everyone. Cheers everyone!
  15. You're on the right track as Tom Williams is one of the best out there. The only problem is he's booked up for around 2 years.
  16. I'm pretty fortunate as I still have my Fortes and Klipshcorns but I NEVER should have sold my Chorus'. I miss them alot.
  17. If you're still making them I would love some of the clear with bronze on them. What's the charge?
  18. KG4 75/100 - Too bright and lacking midrange (for obvious reasons) Chorus I's 85/100 - Great highs, decent mids, very punchy bass but not deep enough Forte I's 95/100 - Wow, what a great speaker!! I like them almost as much as my Khorns but are limited by the drivers and horn size. Klipschorns 100/100 - This is the sound I've been searching for my whole life. I've had them over a year and I am still thrilled every time I listen to them.
  19. Here's a pic of my khorns I re-veneered in the summer. Oh, and I'm new to the forum! I normally hang out at audiokarma.org but wasn't getting my fill of Klipsch talk there.
