  1. I must say, I've seen dozens of reviews for the Videologic system. I'd sure like to hear them for myself. Most of the reviews I've read where in favor of the Digitheatre DTS, but only by a small margin, and only because they where comparing them to a 4.1 Klipsch setup. So my thinking on this would be that if a 4.1 Klipsch system is "almost" as good as the Videologic 5.1 system, then imagine how good the Klipsch 5.1 is going to be. Hope some of this second hand knowledge helps.
  2. Its not as much the center channel thats the problem as it is the proper bass management with a 5.1 setup. A 5.1 setup has a seperate connection for the sub where as a 4.1 setup doesn't. You could always go out and get a seperate "powered" center channel but that would only give you a 5.0 setup even by using the 4.1 sub. Save your money, enjoy your 4.1's and upgrade to the 5.1's when your ready.
  3. I'm sure glad you guys are here on this forum, I don't feel nearly as bad being up here in Canada and having to wait.
  4. Duct Tape All those years of watching MacGyver have really payed off.
  5. Thank you very much. I will order those indeed. I was told at my local Klipsch reseller in Calgary that Klipsch wouldn't ship them the stands. Thanks
  6. You want the blue so It'll match your GTXP hey Mike. I think the Gunmetal grey should go quite nicely with my Lian-Li Aluminum case.
  7. You tell'em Bob! Paranoid indeed. Lookin' forward to hearing them. I hope there as good as you guys are saying. Also, you NEED to make arraingments to make ALL of your products available in Canada and elsewhere! We can't even get the stands for the promedias up here.
  8. I'm right there with ya Mike, I have absolutely no patience. BUT, I was very lucky with my v2.400's, I never had any problems with them and they always sounded great. In the long run, I would rather wait as long as it takes to get a quality reliable product than to get them tomorrow and have to ship them back the next day because they're defective. I'll live with the waiting, just make sure you get it right guys.
  9. What can I say... Things seem a lot funnier at 4:30am than they do in the harsh reality of daylight.
  10. I'm sorry guys, Just my cruel sence of humor. Still Waiting...
  11. The new speaker wires I ordered for the 5.1's whenever "THEY" come out are "finally here".
  12. Yes Amy, Please do guess! I'd love to hear from someone who can make an "educated guess".
  13. attach a photo to your next post. I'd love to see them.
  14. July 25th at 8:30. I think they should give a free set of 5.1's to the winner. Oh well, I can hope.
  15. Any idea why the 5.1 sat's are slightly heavier than the 4.1's?
  16. nope, your entirely right Evansbee. The 5.1 SB Live with the klipsh will work just fine indeed. Not the best card for the job but certainly a workable solution. And just to clear up any misconceptions for ya TC, As long as there is a seperate (discrete) signal being sent to each of the 6 speakers, it is Digital 5.1. It doesn't matter if a card in the speakers decodes it or if your sound card decodes it, or even if your PC decodes it as long as it sends 6 different signals to 6 different speakers. And for the love of god, save yourself the time and agravation of buying the DTT3500's, going home, listening to them, Realizing there kinna crappy, having to return them to the store, ordering the much supperior Klipsch and then waiting another week or two for them. Get the Klipsch, You will be VERY happy.
  17. I blame this entire delay on George Bush! If he hadn't been such a Jacka** with that whole spy plane incident China wouldn't be so dificult at customs. HeHe. Just a little propaganda for my speaker buddies. This message has been edited by Tabbycatt on 07-18-2001 at 07:02 PM
  18. Just so I understand correctly, I assume your talking about an external Home Theater DVD Player that you wish to watch and listen to on your PC. Whether or not you will be able to watch DVD's on your pc with an external player will depend on your video card and what it has for in's and outs. As for audio, it will work just fine. you won't be using any pc software to run your dvds though so if your player doesn't have a decoder you will need one. Might I sugest that a better apropriation of funds would be to just by an internal DVD Player for your PC. Then you will have everything you need and save some money to boot.
  19. Fisrt of all yes, your Santa cruz will work with the 5.1's. Second, if you take a look at the spec. sheet on the 5.1 page you'll notice that the 5.1's are 500w where as the 4.1's are 400w. Not to mention that the 5.1's have dual 8" subs instead of the 4.1's 6.5. By the way, does anyone know why the 5.1 satelites are .3 pounds heavier than the 4.1's satelites? Just curious.
  20. I'll put 5 bucks on Tuesday at 8:29am.
  21. First of all, don't worry about upgrading your sound card. For a 4.1 aplication, the SB Live is a great card. As far as the speakers go, I agree with you, the Altec Lansing ada 890's are a Very nice sounding set. Infact, while I'm waiting for my new Klipsch 5.1's I'm using my old ACS 48's (as I already sold my 4.1's) and they sound great. That being said however there is no comaprison. When I listen to the Altec's my first thought is "these things sound really good". The first thing I notice when I listen to the Klipsch however are the hairs going up on the back of my neck and the drool running down my chin. In other words, do yourself a favor and get the Klipsch. you'll be VERY happy.
  22. well deaf guy, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but your drive is going to die. I've seen this problem a couple of times, mostly on the older Pioneer 10x slot loading drives but the result is always the same... "Fatality". If its still under warantee, I recomend that you take it back A.S.A.P.
  23. I'm thinking I might get a set of 5.1's and 2.1's to complete the 7.1. Bt thats down the road. I've got a sneeking suspicion that the 5.1 will sound great for now.
