  1. I just ordered a new receiver and it gets here tomorrow so I have been doing lots of research. I have heard VERY good things about Acurus amplifiers, I don't any receiver on the market can match them for clean output. Your Denon even has most of the current bells and whistles also. With that said, I sold my Pioneer SC-35 and my Emotiva XPA-5 and replaced them with a Harman Kardon 3700, only time will tell if I made the right move or not. What display are you using?
  2. I am sure the BM retail shops were tired of customers comming in, using their sales staff and their equipment for demos and the customer turn right around and order everything online or give a big box store the business. It seems that a good percentage of consumers have lost a good percentage of their integrity. I know that is a blanket statement and doesn't apply to many here but is seems specialty shops(like shops that carry klipsch speakers) will become an endangered species in the near future.

  4. How much was the origional RSW-15? $1,500?
  5. I'd be very interested but it will have some stiff competition in the $2k range. Klipsch has made a few underperforming subs over the years and those subs have created some negative opinions. If you are going to bring back the 15" Klipsch Reference moniker, i's say make it a max effort. Anyway, I would obviously be in for one!

    output

I had the previous year of that receiver and it did terrible on the bench test. 25 watts per channel, with 5 channels driving. The Emotivas are beasts though.
  7. That scene is fantastic. In fact, I might watch it again tomorrow.

    HK 3700

I know. There is one on audiogon right now for $899 + shipping. I hope he doesn't use that one as his example. I would just order another Rythmik at that price. I am really hoping for the $500 range.

    HK 3700

Decided to swing into a pawn shop today between meetings to see if they had any Reference Klipsch speakers that I might be interested in. They had a RC-52 for $299 (ouch!), RF-62's for $700 (ouch!) and some synergy speakers. Right when I was about to leave one of the clerks asks me "you like Klipsch speakers?" and I said "how' you guess?". He laughed. He told me that a guy pawned a Klipsch subwoofer that was in back and it only has a couple of weeks left and it will be put up for sale. He had my full attention... Low and behold, it's a RSW-15 Cherry (I have Cherry RF-63's now)!! I gave him my card and told him to call me before it makes the sales floor. What are the odds? The clerk said the guy didn't pawn it for much and that he would make me a smoking deal if he never puts it on the floor. Now the waiting game begins again... Sorry for the long story, just amazed at the odds.

    HK 3700

I'd agree with you all. My last two HK amps were super powerful for their low rating but they were also super heavy. Only time will ease my concerns at this point. I just love getting new audio gear.
  11. That subwoofer is a savage! I heard one about a year ago. Congrats!

    HK 3700

My sig can't keep up with my changes;) right now the 3700 will just be powering my RF-63's until Scrappy decides to sell me his Cherry RC-64... I will be ordering two XPA-3's to power rf-63's RC-64 and three RS-62's. should be interesting.

    HK 3700

I really had that blob spaced out beautifully but my IPad must have bunched that all together for some reason. Sorry guys.

    HK 3700

Well I know there are a bunch of Harmon Kardon fans here and I haven't really heard allot about this receiver but I just ordered it. Now the waiting game begins. This receiver has some HUGE shoes to fill as it is replacing a Pioneer SC-35 with 140W I.C.E. amps but I have been wanting to get back into a HK receiver ever since I got my RF-63's. I went and looked at the Pioneer SC-61/65 today and they are no doubt great receivers but couldn't talk myself into buying either for some reason. Here is my receiver Journey oldest to newest with a rudimentary 1-5 star rating (1 lowest, 5 highest) Onkyo TX-SR600 *** Harmon Kardon AVR 645 **** Pioneer 1012K *** Harmon Kardon AVR 247 **** Denon AVR-3808CI *** Pioneer Elite SC-35 **** I am VERY worried about the weight on the 3700, it only weighs 21lbs and my SC-35 weighs in at 65lbs... Harmon says " new lightweight digital, Eco friendly amps produce high current 125-watts-per-channel" probably marketing BS but who knows.. Anyway, I will post up my impressions when it arrives.
  15. Do it scrappy and sell me that cherry RC-64[]
  16. I bought my XPA-5 for $800 4 months ago and sold it for $750 last week. It was only listed on CL for 15 minutes before the guy that bought it contacted me. I am now buying a XPA-3 as a replacement.
  17. That is a serious upgrade. Congrats on the new purchase!
  18. Imagine his thought process when shopping for a car or even a house...[:$]
  19. My buddy has a 40% off card for any HK receiver. He is going to get a 3700 and going to try to get two and sell me one for the same discount. Worth a shot at $600 IMO. Like I said, I have owned two HK receivers and they were both great, the light weight still worries me. The old units were very heavy..
  20. The bass from Looper was INSANE! The movie was so so but I watched it twice just for the bass.
  21. I am leaning towards the SC-65 or SC-68 if I can talk myself into it. I just really wish Pioneer would update their door calibration. Onkyo has the new XT32 that is getting very good reviews..
  22. I thought we already went over this in your other thread...? Buy the best receiver with pre outs you can afford and use it for a few years. It will power your highly efficient speakers just fine, if you feel the need later, add an amp. Like I said, I bought a $1,500 pioneer receiver with 140w I.C.E. amps and it drives my 63's to ear bleeding levels just like my Emotiva XPA-5 did. You are over thinking this.
