  1. thanks guys ... now i just have to make an offer for the chorus II ... what's fair? i want to offer an amount that if i just really did not like them then i can sell them pretty easily. i'll be dipping into the money i was saving for the cornwall's .. don't have enough yet so if the chorus' are good enough then saving some money is always good. i try to use e-bay to base the price but don't see any chorus II at this point plus someone can always jack up the bidding ... just my feeling. thanks.
  2. mike, nice setup ... are those stands built in to the chorus II or did you buy/make them. also, width of my room is just over 12 feet and my listening distance would be about 14 feet back. can i put these pretty close to the back and side walls and still get good sound? thanks.
  3. what about chorus II? would they be improvements over the KLF-20s? someone locally is selling them but don't even know what they look like or how they would sound. can they even compare to the cornwall's or the RF-7's?
  4. I'm setting up another HT room but first will start out as a Stereo room ... could not break it to my significant other what my grand plan was. My current HT room has KLF-20, 2-KLF-C7, RS-7 going thru acurus amps and denon 3801 as pre. I love my current setup but i'm willing to try something else in my new room but of course Klipsch only. My choices are Cornwall, La Scala (both currently on E-bay) and RF-7's ... so far i've only heard the RF's and was not too impressed but to be fair, they were brand new in the store and probably not setup optimally. I don't think I'd be able to audition the heritage line so i'm depending on you guys for some recommendations. It would be great if someone has heard them all and sumarize for me the plus and minuses of each. I guess i want a different sound in each room so when i get tired of a particular sound then i'd go to my other room .. yeah i know ... who can get tired of the klipsch sound but my ear's sensitivity varies depending on what time of day it is. Am I weird or what !!!! thanks.
  5. hey deang ... be careful ... you're starting to be one of my favorite person here ... and i really mean that in a good way. what you do say about the legend does make sense but still not convinced that the RF-7's are better ... to my ears anyway. but who knows ... if i keep reading your posts i may just bring it home to do an A/B comparison ... that would probably be the best test but they're just so darn heavy.
  6. thanks deang ... keep up with your postings cause i'm really learning a lot from you guys. this is probably the best forum i'm proud to belong to.
  7. dd2 ... when i first plugged in my amp into my power conditioner, Monster HTS2500 I immediately heard a hum coming out of the speaker after i turned everything on. I then read somewhere that it could be the cable TV or satelite dish doing this. I unplugged them from the wall and the hum disappeared. I then remembered that i could actually plug my cable into the HTS2500 and it removed 95% of the noise ... still some neglible noise but once music is on then it disappears. Someone else here can probably explain better why this is happening ... not a techie at all. Now as to why i'm looking at the outlaw preamp ... well 3 things - it will have DPLII which would help a lot of my old VHS tapes in terms of movie track sound quality; the amps on my 3801 though not used, stays on all the time drawing power and the amp get's very hot(maybe someone knows if this can be turned off) and the 3rd reason is that everyone says that using a preamp would yield better sound all around .. remains to be seen or heard .. which is why i want to try it. Though not an audiphile, i have pretty good ears and i can at least tell if it sounds better or not.
  8. hey deang ... i'm kind of like a lurker in this forum and do post from time to time. i don't have as much expertise as most folks here and you've certainly had some good suggestions to others. i only have one comment ... it's no question you hate the KLF series but you seem to just keep bashing that line. i for one do own the legend line as my first taste of klipsch speakers and happen to like them very much. i know it's all a matter of taste but there are nicer ways to say the same thing. i for one don't like the reference series but i would never say they suck or whatever ... remember, Klipsch is Klipsch and don't we want everyone to own one whatever line they are. Imagine someone going into a shop making a choice between a KLF series vs. a Bose ... if they read your posts then they would walk out of there with those little cubes. please note that i'm not trying to make an enemy here ... thanks.
  9. Acurus 200FIVE - 200x5 receiver. Got it at UBID delivered to my home for less than $1,000 and it's fully warranted for 2 years ... checked with one of the Mondial/Klipsch rep. Now, I don't know if it's better than the Outlaw but it sure improved the sound of my system which consist of the Legend line and a 3801 receiver. Now the 3801 is just serving as my preamp and what a difference. I am waiting on the the Outlaw 950 preamp ... seems to be feature packed and will definitely take advantage of their try at home offer ... but of course I pay for shipping.
  10. jason ... i was in the same exact situation as you. i have the KLF-20 and definitely did not like listening to it for long periods of time in stereo mode .. this is powered by the denon 3801. i was just about to trade up to the RF-7 line since my local hifi buys will accept the trade. well i read some of the post here and got an Acurus amp from UBID ... 200FIVE model ... got it for $900 and is now playing in my music room for the last 2 days. well to sum it up ... i'm not trading up my speakers though i know some will say the RF7's sounds better .. my KLF-20's still sounds great watching movies but listening to stereo is where it made a huge difference and keeps getting better everyday. there are still a bunch at UBID and they are all brand new with 2 years warranty. go grab these and i'm sure you will be happy. i'm now looking to get a 2 way or 3 way amp to power my rear surrounds. Question to all ... do you think that getting the ACT-3ABM is worth it at this point. my denon 3801 is a 6.1 processor while the ACT-3's are not but in terms of sound, would it make a big difference. it's also at UBID and saw it go for $700. thanks.
  11. thanks all for the reply .. i guess i was not clear on some things: 1. I already have a subwoofer ... HSU 2. Don't really know what I'm lacking in terms of power on my 3801 ... someone just told me that getting a separate amp would give better soundstage and cleaner sound all around. I would still use my 3801 as preamp. 3. I can't put another KLF? for surrounds. don't have room .. it would have to be one that's hanging. which one's are available and what are your suggestions? 4. Comments on the new reference series. no one mentioned that it's worth the upgrade. 5. What is a better upgrade .. the new reference series or adding a power amp(outlaw 750 is what I'm looking at)
  12. I currently have KLF20's and C7 for my front speakers and KSB1.1 for surrounds and using Denon's 3801 as my receiver. I have about $1,500 to spend for upgrades but don't know which way to go. I can trade in all my speakers at what I paid for them as long as I upgrade at the same store. I've been reading about the new RF-7, RS-7 and RC-7 but my dealer here don't have any on display so I've not heard them. Here are my choices and just want some folks to comment as to which would give me the most improvement for my money: 1. Upgrade speakers to the new reference series using my Denon 3801 receiver to drive them. 2. Buy an Outlaw 750 AMP and keep my speakers. Some folks told me that this would make a huge difference. 3. Buy better surrounds to add to my current ones since the 3801 can drive 7 speakers and leave everything as is. thanks.
