For putting the setting on "all channel stereo" ,that's great for when your just using it as background.I could never critically listen in all channel stereo.

    No that sounds horrible.

I love the sound of stereo recordings when I select "Enhanced Stereo" which is my NAD T175HD pre/pro's implementation of "all channel stereo".  The sound really envelopes the listener while maintaining spot on imaging with a huge soundstage.  The NAD's version is leaps and bounds better than any other brands AllCh.St. that I have ever heard.

I started using my "enhanced stereo" setting on my Outlaw Audio preamp.  I have Cornwall IIs front, Heresy rears, and Heresy center.  I've never heard music sound better.  As an example, I recently picked up the Genesis early years (Gabriel-era albums) vinyl box set.  I sit in the sweet spot and listen to these albums and pick up nuances of the music I never heard before coming from the various speakers.  Sound awesome in regular stereo through just the Cornwalls as well, but that much better from all the speakers.

  2. I run a K79 with the stock horn in both my Heresy 3 in place of the original tractrix horn. Fits perfectly. Best regards Moray James

question 1) - from what I understand ,K79 -k75 does not fit a Heresy 1 -for the H3 -  you swapped the tractrix horn in the H3 for a stock H2  k79 horn and it fits -

-question 2) -   are the magnets of the k79 and the K75 the same size -do they pass through the opening in the H3 motorboard or did you increase the size of the opening  , do the magnets rub the MDF top panel in the H3 at all -

-question 3)  -  does the k79-k75 magnet rub the H3 cabinet  if used with a k792 tractrix horn  - regards

  3. Why on earth would you want these antiquated speaker designs for a modern club?

I would again echo Colter's remarks as he is the Pro Klipsch Guru on this forum -

the concept of a nightclub normally entails a professional assessment of a balanced , custom made setup in order to produce quality sound in an area not suited for good sound reproduction -

I would suggest that you sent Colter a PM and elaborate your project as he may very well have the right answers for your project-

  4. I tried to fit a K79 in a Heresy Cabinet to no avail - the driver would have to be lower in the cabinet to clear which would then interfere with the midrange horn and the woofer - that is why they use the K76 magnet instead which is much smaller -

-the K76 has just the right clearance to avoid touching the upper panel of the Heresy cabinet -- if you notice the picture of the Heresy 3 cabinet - the K792 horn is almost  flush with the MDF top panel while the K79 is at least 1/2 an inch higher -

  5. back at University we had that question - are the super quality cables any better than your run of the mill average stock OEM wires -

-Yes , but not by much -

the tests were all done and surprisingly a bit deceiving to the ones who had spent so much money on cables - now again , there are the ones who can tell the difference between a 10$ cable and a 200$ cable - but we could not , no matter how many tests we made -

the difference in sound improvement was however noticable by the quality of the connectors rather than the cables  - a good cable using cheap connectors will sound just as bad as a cheap cable and a cheap connector -

the other difference was that a hand built technician tested cable using industry standard audio connectors and cables achieved the best audio cable -

  6. My morning routine has me enjoying a cup or two of non GMO, environmentally friendly, green, expensive, co-op purchased, coffee while reading the latest in the cable debate now on page 19 in one thread and a "hot topic" in two others.

Pursuing Cal's thread that wandered a bit and ended up in a discussion of coffee I would like to pick the brain of the serious coffee drinkers here and get some suggestions, tips, and advice.

Here are the particulars. I usually do not grind my own beans. I drink two cups in the morning....that's it. Expensive to me is more than $10 a pound. I am not particularly loyal to any brand or purveyor. I have a Keurig but routinely use a Mr. Coffee. I guess among serious coffee drinkers, to use an audio comparison, I am in the boom box stage.

So what would be a step up?

the Van Houtte brand is the best tasting coffee you can buy and enjoy if you are sitting down to listen to music -

Keurig purchased the company -which is based in Montreal -  you can buy their products on ebay and online - http://www.vanhoutte.com/en-ca/consumer/contact-us%C2'> -

they are simply a phenominal coffee -

  7. Yes the 792 has the Tractrix flare like the H-III's. In this pic I had them in my Chorus II's. They look cool but I didn't notice any difference in sound.

I dont understand how the K792 can fit in the Heresy 3 as the cabinet has the same measurements than a Heresy 2 that carries the smaller K76 Tweeter magnet structure -

-I would think that there is not enough clearance in the Heresy H2 or H3 cabinet to clear the larger k79 magnet at the top of the cabinet   -

if the k79  and the k792 share the much bigger magnet - the logic would be that this larger magnet would not fit  -

  8. I Have a pair of Cornwalls 1 and Heresy 1 That were dead stock and flaming hot -with no issues with the sound - or I least that is what I thought  -

since these were 35 years old - I went to a local shop that sell industrial surplus and there I found some old school GE capacitors that looked very similar to the cans Klipsch used in their old crossovers -

    - I was floored by the improvement in the sound - the old caps had very high ESR readings so they were out of specs -

-54$ for 8 caps - and 2 hours of labour - my advice is to take an ESR meter and check the ESR  on the Forte  caps - if the readings have high ESR - replace the caps -

-Sonicaps are very good for Forte crossover  - - Bob Crites carries them at a very fair price -

  9. I saw some Scalas which were finished with Zebrawood veneer - absolutely awesome

    - the lascala speaker is a design that lends itself to one of the most beautiful speakers once you add - a riser - cut the cabinet for a split cab design -ala Scala 2 -

    -  the addition of grilles and logos on the midrange and tweeter section  give the speaker a defined two tone look that is eternal - a classic -

  10. Samantha you can purchase the Ti diaphragms at Simply Speakers. They're in stock now.

Here's a simple band pass you can add to the midrange circuit:attachicon.gifimage.jpg

you can call klipsch and get the original parts from the factory as they also have a great warranty and technical support to boot -

  11.  If you're looking for a replacement set keep an eye out for the K-75, K-79 or the K-792, any one of those will work as they all use the same magnet structure. You'd probably want to replace the stock diaphragms with titanium ones as they're relatively cheap and a very nice improvement. Oh and congrats on the new speakers, I'm sure once you get them right you'll really enjoy the heck out of them!!

ok - so let 's make this clearer   -  the K75 -K79 and K792 share the same magnet structure in size  -but the K792 is different with a new horn and a titanium diaphragm - also my understanding is  the K792 is used in the CW3 -H3-and the KP 301II  -

    -thanks for the info -

  12. Since nobody has sprung for them here I'll mention my experience with like speakers. Forum member Speakerfritz wanted a pair of Industrial split la scalas w aluminum trim that were on Craigslist near me. The photos looked very nice.  He just couldn't work out shipping for a reasonable price. Anyway, the seller was asking $1,000 for those and they stayed for sale for quite a while. I have Belles so wasn't interested myself. Seems there is a wide range a seller might get for these speakers. As a general rule when talking Klipsch speakers, pristine examples in fine wood veneers sell for much more than industrial black finished speakers.

for sure as they are like fine furniture , some finishes can be real beauties

  13. The smarter way is to re-cap the HIP crossover.  Klipsch took advantage of the rising HF response of the EVM-12L to run the K-55 at 104 dB and the K-77-M at 105 dB and have a fairly smooth, but rising HF response curve.  That works great outside and the HIPs shine there.  You'll need to do a lot of crossover work to make them sound good any other way.  I doubt if another crossover from something like an HII or HIII would sound anything but bad.

this info is great - The crossovers from the KP250 - and KP 250 II would be the only crossovers that could work with the HIP cabinet and woofer  -but the mids and tweeters would have to be changed as well - the woofer is the Eminence K42 that is an equivalent to the EVM12L -

    - so yes - the cheaper solution is to upgrade your caps -

  14.

one suggestion is the klipsch k28 - 4 ohms woofer from the H3 - it is a phenomenal woofer versus  the k24 and definitely better at delivering bass -

I 2nd this. I put K28's in my HIIs. Keep in mind that there is an impedance difference, K24 is 8 ohms, K28 is 4ohms. So the crossovers should be altered to account for it as the crossover point will change, if not they could sound "boomy". I have seen people post that did this without making a crossover change and were satisfied with the sound.

I am an obsessive tweaker and used the excuse to make new external crossovers. Stuffed em with polyfil also.

Klipsch sells a kit to upgrade the HII to an HIII too.

the H3 Kit From klipsch  is a 300$ per speaker charge  - with the crossover - the woofer - the mid driver comes with no horn as you re-use the K701 and finally a tweeter - the mids and highs use titanium diaphragms -it is a perfect fit for H2 that have a square rear crossover - round one just require a bit of cutting in the MDF -

  15.

I can't see any reason why they couldn't be used in a C1 or C2.

these are not suitable for a CW or a CWll the crossover frequency of the CW3 network is too high, it has been designed for a K701 horn(as used in the Heresy)and not the larger and lower frequency K600/K601 horns used the the prior Cornwall designs. These networks are only suitable if someone wanted to build a Cornwall 3. I cannot imagine anyone building up a Cornwall from scratch and using a K701 mid horn as that is a definite downgrade from the K601. These days people are opting for larger and better horns than the K601 not smaller horns. Best regards Moray James.

hi morey - why did klipsch switch to the k701 Versus a k601 in the CW3 - does the K701 have any advantages sound wise and has the use of the k701 improve the sound in the  CW3 versus the CW2 - or is it the same overall -  if I am not wrong the CW3 shares the mids and tweeters of the H3 -
