  1. I was thinking about replacing the orginal spade type terminals on my Cornwalls with banana plug jacks. Any gotcha's that I need to worry about? It seems like it would be very easy to do. Do I need to worry about saving the orginals for "collector" value (not that I am ever planning on getting rid of them)? Thanks, ------------------ FOR SALE OR TRADE COMPLETE R*3 SYSTEM FOR 3 HERESY'S Main System - Cornwalls (L/R main) RC-3 RS-3's (white) SVS 20-39CS Harman Kardon AVR 510 Hafler P505 (running sub) ProMedia 4.2 v400 for PC
  2. Thanks for the replies. The folks on this board are just awsome!!! I will give those guys a call and see if I can get it all arranged. 3. djk - Cool information! I wish I could have seen them when they were using the "wall" even thou it didn't always work. 4. My Cornwalls are sonically awsome but they are missing the Klipsch logos on the speaker grills. Also the grill fabric could use replacing. Any idea if it is possible to get these items anywhere? Thanks, ------------------ FOR SALE OR TRADE COMPLETE R*3 SYSTEM FOR 3 HERESY'S Main System - Cornwalls (L/R main) RC-3 RS-3's (white) SVS 20-39CS Harman Kardon AVR 510 Hafler P505 (running sub) ProMedia 4.2 v400 for PC
  5. Coolies!! Great work!! Without a Net is one of my favorite "produced" CD's. I love the tracks with Branford on them. Yet another tangent would be saunders, Garcia, Kahn, and Vitt live at Keystone. More bluesy but good too. Thanks for the effort. Can't wait to treat the neighbors to this over the Cornwalls (of course they will prob be in their houses at the time hehe). 6. Thanks Colin!! I have gotten more wire and the SVS is actually in the left rear corner now. That made a HUGH difference in the sound. Much more bass now. I actually got the sub to bottom out during Spawn last night (live action not cartoon) so I need to turn down the Hafler a tad (humm I guess 800W is tooo much hehehe). Now All I am lacking is a center to go with the Cornwalls and a second SVS. Ah toys can never have to much. I need to be careful or my Mustang is going to get very very jealous. 7. Wes - Humm that is good to know. I have seen the C7 and Academy on ebay but it looks like (depending on the auction) that getting a pair of Heresy's would be a better deal. What are you using for surrounds? At this point I am not too worried about size etc because I will be building a custom wall unit and I will leave enough space in the cabinet above the TV for a Cornwall (the ultimate goal I guess). My plan is to build an angled shelf so that when the a Cornwall or Heresy is placed on it tweeter side down the tweeter and mid horn are aimed at the seating positon. 8. Ahh thank you very much Mr. Blorry :-) I crank it up so the whole neighborhood feels like it is at a concert. ------------------ FOR SALE OR TRADE COMPLETE R*3 SYSTEM FOR 3 HERESY'S Main System - Cornwalls (L/R main) RC-3 RS-3's (white) SVS 20-39CS Harman Kardon AVR 510 Hafler P505 (running sub) ProMedia 4.2 v400 for PC
  9. Hurrmph well that turned out to be a waste of time. I could not get it to sound right so I am back to the RC-3. I am not versed enough to correctly describe the difference but I think that the dual RF-3's had more presence than the RC-3 and thus made the mis-matched timber more noticeable. The Cornwalls just seemed to lose it. Of course it could be that the receiver was driving a 4ohm load on the center and 8 ohm loads on the other channels too. Dunno anyway with the RC-3 back in place it sounds decent once again and I can live with it until I get a proper surround. now If I could only find someone with a single Cornwall for sale hummm. 10. Humm I like Mr. Blorry's idea :-) Can you give us an idea of the lay out of the motorhome and what you are trying to achive (ie loud volume, tons of bass, critical listing, entertain, background noise)? I have the ProMedia's in my 10X12 Computer room and believe me they rock!! More than enough power for that size of a room. Don't get me wrong they are not Cornwalls and SVS but the bass is decent and they do have the Klipsch sound. If you are going to be watching movies maybe the new 5.1 ProMedias. Humm actually how about some RB3/5's and a powered SVS or Klipsch sub? That would be neat too. ------------------ FOR SALE OR TRADE COMPLETE R*3 SYSTEM FOR 3 HERESY'S Main System - l
  11. Humm is there anyway you can "ballast" your tv? It is common on speakers to fill them with sand to stop this sort of vibration. Maybe you can hang some sandbags on the back or put some heavy object on the top? Also try looking here http://www.hometheaterforum.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi Someone there may have had teh same problem. 13. Check out this link for some starter ideas. 16. Humm another KHead in Plano. Coolies!! I have the Promedia's on my PC and they are really nice. The 5.1 systems have just been released. If you want to scoot over I can let ya listen to them (the 4.1 I don't own the 5.1 system). However if you are looking for seperates to go with your stereo equipment you should take a look at the RB-3's or RB-5's. They are more expensive thou. The Synergy series would probably better fit your budget better but I have never heard them so I can not comment on the sound. 17. I think that the Klipsch line will be well balanced when the Heritage line comes back online. It will give them the true horn speakers that are so famous. They are doing a great job with the new Reference series too. This is a nice entry point into the mid-fi market and will serve them well as Klipsch are very well suited to 5.1 systems. Not everyone has the room for K horn's, Cornwalls etc. In order to keep the company growing they need to continue to have a line that fits into somewhat smaller boxes and address different markets. I have the ProMedia's on my PC and they just rock but at the same time require a different type of sound then the classic horn. They need to rock and provide awsome bass from a small package. Being totally accurate from 20 to 20K is not as important as "sounding" good (a la Bose). I also have the R*3 series which are awsome too and provide great value. I love my Cornwalls too but not everyone has room for these. If I were to ask for a totally new speaker(s) this is what I would want: - MOST IMPORTANT IS QUALITY. I don't care what the price point is or what type of system is being offered it must be top notch quality. The biggest danger to the Klipsch name as the company grows and gets into different markets would be to let the quality slip. I would extend this to the dealers as well. I purchased my R*3 speakers from HillCrest HiFi in Plano. They had all the Klipsch reference line and subs hooked up in a theater settings. It was simply awsome. I read other people's bad experiences and it makes me shudder. It is hard to get new blood when the speakers can't be heard. - Unpowered subwoofer aka SVS. Heck just rebrand SVS with Klipsch name hehe. And the woofer line in general but I think that they are taking care of this if the new ones ever get released. - Center and surrounds that would match the Heritage line (esp Cornwalls hehe) but not break the bank (maybe $400 each) - Add the Cornwall's to the Heritage line. 19. K guy - Just so you know there is the same debate over AC power cords that there is with interconnects and speaker wires. Personally I feel that power is power (UNLESS it is run through a isolation device of some sort) and that I would buy $300 interconnects (which I won't :-) beofre I would buy a $300 power cable. There I did it I opened up a can of worms. I was bored hehehe. Living in mid-fi and loving every second of it :-) Lates, ------------------ Main System - CORNWALLS (circa '79 yippe) RC-3 RS-3's (white) SVS 20-39CS Harman Kardon AVR 510 Hafler P505 (running bridged 800W/4 ohms for sub) ProMedia 4.2 v400 for PC Bedroom - KG4's or RF-3's (haven't decided yet) Harman Kardon AVR 20 MKII
  20. Ok so Steve P got me to thinking (yes again we all know that this is dangerous). I would be very willing to consider the following trade with any members in the DFW area: My 2 RF3's, 1 RC3, 2 White RS3's in exchange for your 3 good working condition Heresy's. Humm or I guess I would be willing to sell the R*3 stuff to get money to buy Heresy's too. I didn't think about that (see I told ya). I got Cornwall's and I am now trying to timber match my 5.1 surround with them. Broke 'cause of Cornwall's and SVS woofer but loving life anyway Later's ------------------ Main System - CORNWALLS (circa '79 yippe) RC-3 RS-3's (white) SVS 20-39CS Harman Kardon AVR 510 Hafler P505 (running bridged 800W/4 ohms for sub) ProMedia 4.2 v400 for PC Bedroom - KG4's or RF-3's (haven't decided yet) Harman Kardon AVR 20 MKII
  21. Ditto. Cornwalls just drained my speaker budget but I will be looking for 3 Heresy's in a couple of months to complete my surround sound setup. I hope they find a good home. ------------------ Main System - CORNWALLS (circa '79 yippe) RC-3 RS-3's (white) SVS 20-39CS Harman Kardon AVR 510 Hafler P505 (running bridged 800W/4 ohms for sub) ProMedia 4.2 v400 for PC Bedroom - KG4's or RF-3's (haven't decided yet) Harman Kardon AVR 20 MKII
  22. Ok so don't ask me how I know this but in Germany they use ultra low frequencies for crowd control. They have this truck that rolls up and they announce for the crowd to break up and then fire off a warning shot. If the crowd does not break up then they turn it on full power. What happens you ask?? Well you goto the bathroom right then and there in your pants. Yes I said you sh*t your pants. It is pretty hard to be unruly when you have stuff running down your leg. Ok just thought I would gross ya all out. 23. I have the HK 510 and it does play louder in stereo mode than it does in surround modes (if you look at the specs the 2 speaker mode is higher rated than the surround modes). Did you go in and turn off the surrounds in the setup? If you did the amp will use it DSP to automatically make "fake" rear surrounds. Still it is very strange. If you call HK I am sure they can explain it to you. They are very good at talking to you. I have called them more than once with dumb questions and they have always been able to answer them. ------------------ Main System - CORNWALLS (circa '79 yippe) RC-3 RS-3's (white) SVS 20-39CS Harman Kardon AVR 510 Hafler P505 (running bridged 800W/4 ohms for sub) ProMedia 4.2 v400 for PC Bedroom - KG4's or RF-3's (haven't decided yet) Harman Kardon AVR 20 MKII
  24. If ya all don't know I had a complete RF3 HT system. Then I got some Cornwalls and made them the front channels. I have been trying to figure out what to do with my RF3's. They would not work as rear surrounds do to space limitations so I just placed them aside. Well I got to thinking on Sat (dangerous I know but bear with me here) that I had just bi-wired the RC3. Humm two complete sets of cables going to the center channel. Hummm two un-used RF3's (ok you all can see where this is going right?). So in a flash of rare brillance I removed the single RC3 and replaced it with 2 RF3's (one on each side of the big screen). So far so good. I need to go through and re-balance the levels but I think that it will work until I can can afford to get 3 Hersey's (Surrounds and front). I definatly think that the RF3s will be able to keep up with the Cornwalls better than the single RC3. Any thoughts? Am I just totally crazy? 25. Hey Fini - Looks like you got my twins!! The Cornwalls I just got last week are also C-BR, 1979, S/N 22T119 and 22T120. Mine were finished with a black formica look product. Not too fancy but nice and durable. They do look very nice and fit in well with the other black wquipment I have. Too bad about the tweeters but I would say definatly worth the time to replace. I think you will love the Cornwalls!
