  1. Am I the only person that doesn't like Halo 2? Let me rephrase that. I liked Halo 1 and Halo 2 is just more of the same thing with some new weapons and tweaked vehicles. That's all fine and dandy, but I just found myself getting bored of the gameplay after an hour. Personally, I would have liked to see more of the phsyics and destructible environments factor into the gameplay. There's a reason I don't play Halo 1 anymore - I got bored of it. The only thing thats a good improvement over part 1 is the implementation of multiplayer. It's too bad I don't play on xbox live. If you like the multiplayer and play xbox live, then Halo 2 would be pretty good. For me, this is another case of an overhyped game. Just my opinion.
  2. 42s all the way Amon. Good luck with your search.
  3. Did you win that auction amon? That's a good deal for any dynaudio floorstander. -UP
  4. Now what did I say? Did you play anything with bass on them??? Could you believe such small boxes could do bass like that? Glad you liked them Amon. The 42's are sick lil speakers.
  5. avantegaurd trio looks like 3 trumpets. I'm sure it sounds good though.
  6. No offense taken Bill. Opinions are always welcome. ---------------- On 10/31/2004 12:40:45 AM Bill H. wrote: To all, I apologise if I offended anyone............guess I just like the Klipsch sound. 7. Bill, if our enjoyment of a speaker was simply and directly dependant on its efficiency then there wouldn't be much to discuss in the hifi world. In fact of all the qualities of a loudspeaker, I rank efficiency as one of the least important factors in determining how "good" a speaker is. Most qualities I can think of such as high and low frequency extension, pace rythm and timing, soundstage, coherance, separation, etc etc... are all more important than how efficient a speaker is to me. Less efficient speakers just mean they need more muscle to drive them. But the most efficient speaker in the world can sound really bad. Just wanted to make that point because you asked why pay more for a speaker less efficent than the RF-7. I, on the other hand, paid way more for a speaker smaller, doesn't play as low, and is less efficient than the RF-7. Does it sound better than the RF-7 in my opinion? Yes. Way better. So efficiency isn't everything. -UP
  8. I have the choice to do 1 of 3 upgrades this year. Please don't recommend anything else: Existing, I'm using Arcam A80 amplifier with the CD73. Thinking of doing one of the following: 1) Upgrading A80 to A90 and the CD73 to CD192 2) Upgrading A80 to FMJ A32 3) Upgrading CD73 to FMJ CD33 Thanks in advance for the opinions. If you could tell me why that would be even better. Regards, Underhanded Penguin
  9. Amon, not many people on thee forums use Dynaudios. Theear has the Contour 1.1 and 3.3. I have the newer Contour s1.4 in a 2 channel bedroom system. Like you I was not happy with the reference 3 system for music. For HT it was fine. The 1.4 is just a bookshelf speaker but it costs quite a bit more than the RF-7. I have listened to the Dynaudio range of speakers up to the Confidence 4. Every single speaker they make is awesome. The 42 has probably the biggest bang for your buck ratio. With a lil bit of bargaining I think you can get them down to 650-700 for the pair. Give these a listen first. The extra over your budget is worth it. And they are quite easy to drive even though it is a 4ohm load. Good luck in your search. In the same price range I would listen to the Quad 11L or 12L, and for a bit more the Von Schweikert VR1 (around the same price as the Audience 52). And oh I forgot to mention... the bass on these lil speakers is surprisingly deep controlled. You won't believe there isn't a sub in the room.

For music, to me it is more important to have the sub set up correctly than the brand. To me, once you cross the $1000.00 threshold, you are getting a pretty decent sub no matter what the brand. The musicality and speed are very much dependant upon location and phase setting. A $2000.00 sub that is not callibrated correctly sounds worse than a $1000.00 sub set up right. The canned answers that you are looking for are that the Klipsch subs have more slam and the SVS subs dig deeper and have a flatter response. I'll head for cover now. 11. Hey Sean. Congrats on the career change. I live and work in downtown Toronto as well. I'm not really in the market but just for curisotiy's sake how much for the stuff? I may be interested in the SVS (providing I can find the space for it). Also, I can ask my friends in the Toronto area to see if they're interested in buying anything.
  12. ---------------- On 10/14/2004 6:56:03 PM Trey Cannon wrote: I suggest that you go to the SVS website and tell them. Maybe suggest that they start a forum of their own. ---------------- LOL for sure man aren't you a lil sick of all the svs talk considering this is a klipsch forum. Ironic. I feel slightly guilty here as well. For what it's worth, I think Klipsch Reference is awesome bang for the buck for home theatre. And now back to your regularly scheduled propoganda...
  13. Exactly, the B4-Plus cannot be top of the line,it does not even use SVS's best woofers.People dont get it,if they make a B4-Ultra them I AM INTERESTED. The B4-Plus is a louder sub using twice as many drivers as a B2-Plus unit.Quantity does not = top quality.the dB12 as good as it is is not at the TV12 level ---------------- Okay you are justified. I didn't realize the b4 used the plus driver. Oh wait it's called b4 plus. I'm ****ing retarded. Come on Theear get something new! Let me live vicariously through your purchases. Hey what do you think of the Arcam FMJ a32 integrated @ 100 watts per channel. It's not crazy power but I like the smooth Arcam sound. At that price range what else would you consider to drive my contour bookshelves?

Personally, the Dynaudio Audience 42 'stand mount' with a 5" mid and 1" dome tweeter, which has incredible bass response, is a LOT smaller, and can be had for 700 USD, is my choice for best bang for the buck bookshelf. I've heard the RB-75. And as good a speaker that is, the 42 does everything better, is smaller, costs less, and in my opinion looks better. This one is a killer guys. Seriously, if you're in the market for bookshelves check these out. You WOULD NOT believe the bass you can get out of these tiny boxes. While the RB-75 is rated down to 42hz, the Audience 42 is rated down to 53hz. But I swear, listening to both of them, it sounded like the 42 dug deeper and had tighter bass than the RB-75. Those Dynaudio woofers are crazy.
  15. I have this on dvd. Bought it sight unseen based on all the good reviews. I was a little dissappointed because I wasn't expecting an all out nature documentary. It was good until they got to the penguin part where the baby penguin gets killed by that ****ing bird. I love penguins. They are my favourite animal. When I saw that scene, a small part of me died along with that baby penguin. I will never be the same.
  16. It's all in good fun guys. You know we all love each other here! To sum it all up, RSX are great sats, Dynaudio makes some damn fine speakers, the Revel B15 kicks some serious ***, SVS makes amazing subwoofers especially for the price, and I hope to get a good bonus this year so I can get a Dynaudio Sub 300 (or maybe a Depth) without hurting the pocket too much. Quick question Theear: Which sub would you rather keep if you could only pick one? b15 or sw12?
  17. To be honest, I'd much rather have a decent 2 channel than a subwoofer. But it would be nice to have one. It's interesting how my tastes in sound reproduction have changed over the years. Before I loved the sound of music with a subwoofer and the bass turned way up. Now I just listen to 2 channel with my 2 bookshelves. They're only rated down to 40hz but somehow I don't feel like I'm missing any bass. When I do get a sub, I'll make sure it will keep up with the bookshelves and that it's dialed in properly. Won't be thumping the house like I used to with the ksw-15 and pw-2200.
  18. Come on guys cut Theear some slack. I was simply trying to provoke him to find out why he isn't interested in arguably one of the best subs in the world. I bet he'll say he's got his sights on the JL Audio Gotham or something equally ridiculous. But seriously, he should get an SVS already if he still wants one. I wish I could afford to get new audio right now. The bug is biting really hard.
  19. Theear, isn't it about time you got an svs? You've been talking about it for such a long time. And considering how much you love owning the best subwoofers, I don't believe that the B4 plus doesn't interest you. What's stopping you? Just get one. Just get a PB10ISD first if you can't afford the rest right now. Wait don't tell me, you're too busy with work to order something online. I don't have money to waste on subs right now but I'm saving up for a dynaudio sub300 or a ML Depth for Christmas.
  20. Is there any reason why the freq response of the 10 goes lower than the 12??? I'm assuming the 12 has higher output. But still, it seems weird that the bigger driver bigger cabinet sub would be tuned higher than a smaller driver smaller cabinet sub.
  21. FYI, I don't use an amp with my 580's or 650's and I find the sound amazing. I hooked up my 580's to x-can v2s once and while the sound did improve (don't ask me to describe it), I wouldn't go so far to say the sound without an amp is bad. In fact without an amp, I would say it's amazing, and with an amp, I would say its better than amazing. I guess I didn't help much. I do plan on getting an amp for my 650 this year. My 580 I use for portable sources.
  22. Just wanted to throw another one into the mix instead of the usual svs and rsw discussions: http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0604/vonschweikertvrs1.htm Has anyone heard this? It's a sealed design, 10" downfiring, smallish box, nice clean finish, 20-100hz +/- 2 db. Von Schweikert makes amazing speakers so I wouldn't be surprised if this sub was pretty amazing.
  23. Not sure what the logic is but the cables in my 2 channel system cost about 1000 USD. That's for a pair of 10' speaker cables and a pair of 3' RCA interconnects. It sounds damn good and provides peace of mind. I won't argue with anybody that says their 12 gauge zip cord sounds just as good. If that's the case then I spent a 1000 dollars on good looking cable. Not unlike somebody that spends 1000 dollars on a brand name outfit. Hey at least it looks good. You can't argue that.
  24. Oops I just noticed you asked for a comparison with the RSW-12. Without a question if you can afford it, the Depth is hands down the better sub.
