  1. I would have to modify the motherboard and that scares me Grill frames are available from Fastlane. Your Khorns will look stock. When the Squawker & Tweeter are horizontaly arranged, like on the above motorboard, should the Tweeters be on the inside or outside?
  2. If you return the Khorns to original, I'd be interested in the: 1. V-Trac horns/grill frame/Grill cloth; 2. BMS 4592ND-MID midrange drivers;
  3. Thanks Babadono. That's good information. I was thinking of doing this upgrade one step at a time as you did.
  4. .This is confused. You recommend a 2 inch throated driver. However, the example you give (JBL 2426) is a 1 or 1.4 in throated driver. What is the manufacturer's recommendation? Are you saying that the throat size on the horn is "confgurable" ? There are several throat adapters offered in different sizes depending on your driver.
  5. Thanks for the reply Dave. I'm exploring my options.
  6. Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant the stock Khorn driver (K55M).
  7. Is anyone using the Eliptrac 400 horn with the stock driver?
  8. The room is about 25 X 30-feet with 25-foot cathedral ceilings. The equipment is 70's & 80's vintage Yamaha gear. CX-800 Preamp, B6 Power Amp, T80 Tuner, CDX-5000 CD Player & YP-D8 Turntable. The Klipschorns fill the large space nicely. Since the mods, I have noticed a more clear & defined sound stage and very tight & improved bass response. I credit the pipe insulation for most of the bass improvement, a trick I learned on this forum by the way.
  9. I was planning to do the mods one at a time but it didn't work out that way.[] I put in the crossovers, tweeters and I installed pipe insulation on the horizontal & vertical seal points. The overall improvement blew me away but I don't know how much each mod is responsible for this.
  10. The Eliptrac is the squawker horm I've been looking at. I have 88 Khorns with ALK Universal Crossovers & Crites CT-125 tweeters.
  11. Nice looking speakers. Why are the tweeters in a vertical position?
  12. Thanks for the replies. I have one that's warped. I'll use the dimensions given to build a new one.
  13. Anyone know of a source for replacement grills?
  14. I've always considered Heritage Klipsch speakers to be the Harleys of the speaker world. No matter how old they are you can always find parts and mods for them.
  15. I thought the corner walls were part of the bass horn. Wouldn't pulling them away, (to angle them in) even with the backs enclosed, reduce the size of the bass horn?
  16. Thanks for the replies. I have already modded my Khorns with ALK Universal Crossovers & Crites CT-125 tweeters. I hope the Fastracs will work well with this setup.
  17. I'm thinking about modding my 1988 Khorns with the Fastrac Horns. Does anyone have these and can can give me a review on them?
