http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B7X2OTY/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 Denon AVR-E400 7.1 Channel 4K and 3D Pass Through Networking Home Theater AV Receiver with AirPlayOn sale at Amazon for $499 right now. I'm looking for a 7.2 setup so I'm not interested but others might be...

Indy? Hmmm....maybe Claude will let some of us Indy folks come over for a quick listen!

ugh. that's the worst!

what percent of the movies coming out have 9.2?

Thanks man...I think that's what I'll due. I guess it's worth a few hundred $ to cover the next few years' worth of potential upgrades.

BTW, these aren't necessarily the only ones I'm looking at. I'm also considering a couple of Pioneer units. I'm sure there are a ton of other good options but I'm guessing the vast majority of them will will 95% of my needs equally.

Thanks! That's something to consider seeing as If I have it as long as I've had my current receiver, that could be an issue in my next house if I want to go bigger. Plus, I think I can get a refurbished X4000 for about the same price as a new X3000.

I'm sorry but I don't know enough to tell. Here's the back of the X4000 http://usa.denon.com/Assets/images/products/AVR-X4000/EL_avrX4000_e3_bk_re.jpg Here's the back of the X3000 http://usa.denon.com/Assets/images/products/AVR-X3000/EL_avrX3000_e3_bk_re.jpg

I'm looking to get another receiver and I've liked the reviews I've seen on the Denon X4000. both are at least 7.2, both have dual HDMI out, and both have the Audyssey (Audyssey MultEQ XT for the 3k and Audyssey MultEQ XT32 & Audyssey SubEQ HT for the 4k) It seems the only major difference to me given my immediate and future plans is the power output. X4000 125 Watts Power Output Per Channel(20Hz-20kHz, 0.08%THD@8ohm) 165 Watts Power Output Per Channel(1kHz, 0.7%THD@6ohm) 235 Watts Maximum Power Output Per Channel X3000 105 Watts Power Output Per Channel(20Hz-20kHz, 0.08%THD@8ohm) 135 Watts Power Output Per Channel(1kHz, 0.7%THD@6ohm) 215 Watts Maximum Power Output Per Channel The X4000 does have "Dynamic Discrete Surround Circuit – D.D.S.C - HD" technology....whatever that means. http://usa.denon.com/us/Product/Pages/ProductComparision.aspx?CatId=avreceivers(denonna)&pids=avrx3000(denonna)|avrx4000(denonna) My question is, am I going to notice the lack of power with the X3000? I'm running a Klipsch system with a RC-35, RF-35's, and (4) RS-35's. There's a $400 difference between the two units and I'd rather not spend it if I don't "have" to. Thanks!

Thanks! This forum is always great. I understand about 10% of what everyone is talking about but folks here are always happy to explain things without implying I'm an idiot while doing so.

Hmmm...I'm asking because in the component and price list Scrappydue laid out, he included....

The subs

So...the tuning...how hard is it? I can piece together how to build them from this and other resources but the idea of having to tune them is a bit scary.

i found it on amazon for $654. the sc-1223-k was 50% off yesterday on the Goldbox deal. Super pissed I missed it.

i'm also looking at either the Denon AVR X4000 or the Pioneer Elite SC-63. I'm worried about the complexity of setting the Pioneer unit up. From the reviews on Amazon, it looks like the Denon may be more user friendly for a relative nOOb like me. For reference, I'm currently running a 7.1 system with a HK AVR 630 powering a RC-35, a set of RF-35's, and 4 RS-35's. My sub is a HSU STF-3. I'm really considering building a couple of subs using Scrappydue's thread to guide me: http://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/145539-build-thread-4-stereo-integrity-18s/ Thoughts?

thanks! it was a bit bland so i built the poster frames and put LED strips in them to backlight them. turned out pretty sweet IMHO. i'm happy with my speakers but want to build a couple of subs. been browsing the threads here. i have a hsu STF-3 and while it's perfectly fine, it's not enough for this space. at least that's what i think. i also need a receiver. i'll have the funds saved up soon. i've got an old HK AVR 630. time for something new and sexy. and expensive. ugh.

Built some poster frames with LED backlights. Pretty happy with the results.
