  1. I want these. The only Klipsch speaker that does it for me, are CW II's. I have heard these in 2 different systems, both sets were stock. Knocked my head off, as I was not expecting them to sound so un-honky. Just clean, clear, dynamic music. I can only imagine how these sound with the nice parts in them.

  2. Ya, the poor bastard.... A Marantz 2330 and a set of highly upgraded CW II's for the garage. Your molehill is my mountain. Congrats! Looks really fantastic.

    Put that source switch back on 1 and tell me how it sounds   ;)

    But will the earbud/ipod generation  ever appreciate faithfully reproduced recorded music?

    From the guy who works on this stuff, I have a massive surge of youngsters bringing me gear to work on. 4 years ago, that was not the case at all. So yes, more and more of them are getting sick of compressed garbage music and crap gear. Just a matter of time, and the industry will have to adapt. Good thing there is a wealth of vintage gear out there to save the day!

  4. Jalabaneros..... I have had these allot and absolutely love them. Not so much for the heat, which is excellent, but the amazing flavor that they have. Chop one in half, cook it in a pot of chili, and game over.

  5. That is a fantastic amplifier, and all vintage buffs know what it is, because they all want one. Value is tough, because it is now well into summer, and stuff does not bring near the coin it does in the winter months. Not only that, the working condition of a 40 year old amplifier is always questionable. Even though it works, it will need some work done to be reliable again. BUT! You do not want just anybody working on this amp. I cannot stress this enough.

    In your position, I would just sell it like it is. There are not allot of GOOD service centers in your neck of the woods, and I would not let them touch this amp with a 10ft pole. Yes, I know this, because I work on this stuff every day all day, and most of my out of state work comes from where you are.

    I will chat more with you over PM, as I would really like to see this one get treated right.

  6. These early Mac solid state were the best they ever did IMO... Really excellent sounding gear. I had the mono versions, the MC50's for a time, and completely regret getting rid of them. They are a real nice break from HiFi, if that makes sense, and allow you to just melt into the music.

    Congrats on putting together a beautiful system!

  7. Class A/B done right, and there is no need for anything else. Especially an energy hogging cap cooking class A amp. I would much rather have a Class A tube amp. I do agree Class D is the future. It is almost matured in the higher end Ncore amps, but still not quite there IMO.

  8. The BA-F1 and the CA-F1 are very special pieces, and the best solid state Sansui ever made IMO. Glad they found a good home with you 2Bmusic!! These pieces are the very definition of "wire with gain". Better source they get, the better they sound. If they don't sound right, get a better source. They will truly sound exactly like it does.

    Note to potential buyers though;

    These pieces are plagued with some dipped mica caps that drift in value and make the amp and phono preamp in the preamp unstable, and will cause oscillation, leading to self destruct if not taken care of. The real problem with this is taking out those ever so special high speed outputs that are no longer available, and contribute greatly to the sound of these pieces.

    So most out there are either blown, or repaired and no longer have the original outputs. Don't worry too much though.... Mr Moons has a nice stash of them outputs for MY customers!!  :) So don't go messaging me for parts. These are for rebuilds only.

  9. That would be a dirty relay. Flip it with your finger, and I bet you can make it do crazy things. You can pop off the cover of these relays carefully, and clean the contacts.

    Now you get to figure out what component is humming! Preamp most likely, same scenario, check the jacks and the traces related to them.

  10. lightning strike just might be the kicker here... I would open it up and look for a burned up ground trace. If it is working and humming, something that was (is) connected to it may have burned up a signal ground trace.

    I say this because it is working. If it was a main ground in the amp or supply, It would not work.
