  1. How did you guys find the EICO HF-81? I check ebay periodically and no luck so far.
  2. Thanks. What's the reasonable price for a pair working MC-30? What price would you pay?
  3. Any thought or recommendation on vintage Mcintosh? MC-275, 240, 225 or mono block MC-40, 60 Thanks
  4. Is AE-25 a SET amp or not? Thanks ------------------ Klipsch RF7 Klipsch RC7 Klipsch RS7 Mission MS773E Denon 3802 ASL MG SI15DTS Acurus RL11 Acurus A200x3 Cambridge Audio D300 AQ Slate Spr cables
  5. Just order two pairs of Tungsram 12AX7 from AA. I believe the price is reasonable. It doesn't say if those are matching pair or not. How do I know / test? Is it important? I want to upgrade the ineterconnect for my tube amp. Any recommedation? DH Labs BL-1 good? ------------------ Klipsch RF7 Klipsch RC7 Klipsch RS7 Mission MS773E Denon 3802 ASL MG SI15DTS Acurus RL11 Acurus A200x3 Cambridge Audio D300 AQ Slate Spr cables
  6. I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Two amps share a pair of speakers. Connect a pairs peaker to two amps at same time using speaker cable is definately not good. The fuse in my amp was blown one time when I accidently turned on both amps. I am searching a "AMP Selector". Maybe "Speaker Selector" will work as well. However, I guess it may affect sound quality by going through another box. ------------------ Klipsch RF7 Klipsch RC7 Klipsch RS7 Mission MS773E Denon 3802 ASL MG SI15DTS Acurus RL11 Acurus A200x3 Cambridge Audio D300 AQ Slate Spr cables
  7. Discusman: I posted my personal opinion a few weeks ago under topic "Njoe Tjoeb 4000 vs. MSB Link III" in "2 channel audio" forum. I just get into tube stuff. There are a lot of knowledgeable members here know much more than I do. I bought mine from eaudionet.com. For ASL gear, I believe their price is a little bit cheaper than divertech.com plus eaudionet is in US. The guy I talked to is very knowledgeable and nice. He told me that I can return the amp if I don't like it. For music listening, I use ASL, CD player and RF-7 (two channel only). I would like to keep it simple for now. For movie, I actually use another pair of front speaker plus center and surround for now. I also use the "multi room" output on Denon receiver to ASL amp. It allow me to listen some DVD, TV via tube amp as well. ------------------ Klipsch RF7 Klipsch RC7 Klipsch RS7 Denon 3802 ASL MG SI15DTS Acurus RL11 Acurus A200x3 AQ Slate Spr cables
  8. Discusman, is tube amp worth it? I bought a ASL tube amp (entry level) not too long ago. What a sweet and warm sound! I think tube amp matches very well with horn speaker. The amp is the best $700 I ever spent . ------------------ Klipsch RF7 Klipsch RC7 Klipsch RS7 Denon 3802 ASL MG SI15DTS Acurus RL11 Acurus A200x3 AQ Slate Spr cables
  9. First of all, I never owned or listened to any tube amp before. So the following comment is just my personal opinion. Equipment: Klipsch RF7, 102dB MSB Link III DAC, Basic ASL AMP MG-SI 15DTS, 5WPC triode mode AQ Slate,AR Toslink and MIT interconnect cables I first surprise is the hiss and hum I've been experienced with my current setup (Denon, Acurus)is gone. I am aware of the ground loop issue. I tried to get rid of it one time with ONLY Acurus Rll preamp, A200 amp, a cd player with toslink cable. Hiss and hum was reduced but still there so I decided to live with it. OK, how does it sound? Acurus preamp + Acurus AMP = very clean and detail sound. Unfortunately sounds too cold and bright for my taste. Denon + Acucus AMP = great for movie. Does sounds warmer than Acurus preamp I have but lack of clarity and detail compared to Acurus preamp setup. ASL Tube AMP = I don't know all of those words people use on audioreview.com. All I know is it does sound good. Better than previous two setup. It is definitely warmer than Acurus preamp + amp and has the clarity and detail I appreciate. I thought the bass must be an issue for this little 5W amp. To my second surprise, the bass is actually good. Of course, this is not shake your house kind of bass. For that, I would rather use sub. It does produce less bass compared to acurus 200W AMP. For anyone who likes a lot of bass, this amp probably won't do it. As much as I like RF7 with its clarity and right on your face kind of sound. I always wonder if just if I can make it sounds warmer. Do I finally find the sound I am looking for? I don't know. There is always room for improvement. However, for a 5W integrated tube AMP under $700, I am sure impressed. ------------------ Klipsch RF7 Klipsch RC7 Klipsch RS7 Denon 3802 Acurus RL11 Acurus A200x3 MSB Link III DAC AQ Slate Spr cables This message has been edited by cbr600 on 11-22-2001 at 01:29 AM
  10. Has anyone ever done any A/B comparison with those two? I've been testing MSB DAC for over a week. It does improve the sound but I am wondering tube CD player such as Tjoeb 4000 may be better? I will have chance to listen to Antique Sound Lab Tube integrated AMP MG-SI 15DTS with my RF-7 this weekend. Has anyone tried tube amp with RF7? Thanks ------------------ Klipsch RF7 Klipsch RC7 Klipsch RS7 Denon 3802 Acurus RL11 Acurus A200x3 MSB Link III DAC AQ Slate Spr cables This message has been edited by cbr600 on 11-21-2001 at 12:56 AM

  12. Something amazing just happen, received my monster HTS2500. Unpluged all power cords from surge protector and moved to hts2500. That nasty buzz I had since I acquired acurus is almost gone (noticeable in less than a foot). I really have no idea what happen, The only logical explanation I can think of is that I connected coax cable to hts2500 first and then to TV. I guess the the filter in hts2500 works. ------------------ Klipsch RF7 Klipsch RC7 Klipsch RS7 Denon 3802 Acurus A200x3 AQ Slate Spr cables
  13. My media room is about 14 by 20. Those speakers sure look big in the room but sound good to me. ------------------ Klipsch RF7 Klipsch RC7 Klipsch RS7 Denon 3802 Acurus A200x3 AQ Slate Spr cables
  14. With my current setup, I have not noticed any bass problem for RF-7. I definitely like RF-7 over RF-3 because highs are more refined. ------------------ Klipsch RF7 Klipsch RC7 Klipsch RS7 Denon 3802 Acurus A200x3 AQ Slate Spr cables
  15. Boa, thanks for the tip again. Hopfully, I willremeber that:-). I want to thank Keith also. I took his advise and got some of AQ Slate cables. Great cable, the highs are more refined and bass is tigher. Most amazing thing is it actuualy reduce the hiss from the tweeter. This is definitely an expensive hobby, at least for me. I started with RP-3, RS-3., RC-3 & Denon 3802 two months ago and thought I was in heaven. As of today, I still have 3802 plus all new additions RF-7,RC-7, RS-7, Mirage BPS-400, Acurus and hts2500 soon. I like acurus A200x3 so much and thinking about get another one from UBID. All of this start with supposely a $2000 upgrade. I'd better spend more time on enjoying what I have rather than improving before my wife kill me or my credit card:-)
