  1. I think the importance of Elvis on our culture is sometimes lost after so many years. His first lp and single started an entire cultural shift. Elvis truly did change the world. London Calling made the list. Google the cover and see who they are paying homage to. That first Elvis lp cover is iconic to say the least. I will say during his time most artists relied on singles. Elvis left behind an amazing body of work. So many amazing recordings but admittedly he only recorded a handful of great lp's. That first lp basically shot Elvis out of a cannon and should be on any best of list.
  2. I just bought one. It replaced my RW 12d. I couldn't be more pleased. The difference between the two is remarkable. The Ultra just sounds incredible. You won't regret getting one. I chose this sub because of a lack of space in my room. The floor print is very small. Just be prepared for the visuals. It's a rather impressive looking piece, the thing is a beast. It really makes a statement in you're room.
  3. So far I just couldn't be happier. The improvement in the sound quality was more than I expected. I wish I had made this purchase long ago. My wife even had positive comments while watching some movies and that's extremely rare. I've got the sub next to a RF 7 so it really blends well into the room. The cylinder shape isn't an issue at all which was a major concern of the wife. Adding this sub should pretty much be the end of my upgrade bug. That will really please the wife.
  4. Just thought I would let you guys know what I went with on my upgrade. After much agonizing, I went with the SVS PC 13 Ultra cylinder. With the space I had to work with it was the best fit. My wife says it looks like we have a water heater in the corner of the living room. She didn't give me to much grief though. I gotta say I just love this sub. After using a SPL meter to calibrate my system I was just blown away. I've never had it so good. I finally got a complete system that I'm happy with. This sub absolutely blows my old Klipsch sub away. Everything turned out better than I hoped. Money well spent for sure. I can't say enough about the customer service from SVS either. They were very patient with all my questions on the phone and many emails. It's gonna be a great weekend to demo my new setup!
  5. I looked at subs from Rythmic,PSA and HSU. They all fit well in my budget. From what I read these subs all stack up pretty good against the SVS line. HSU looked really promising. Good pricing as well. I have some options. It just drives me nuts deciding which way to go.
  6. Never heard of Seaton before. My home theatre is mainly used for movies. I'm trying to stay at $2000 for my sub. I know whatever I do will be an improvement. I'm stuck with the room and I just gotta do the best I can within budget. I'm going to look up the other companies you mentioned. I'm flexible and open to suggestions. Thanks
  7. Hello everyoneere I thought I would seek some expert advice concerning my sub upgrade. I've recently purchased RF 7's and the 64. At the present I'm still using my Rw 12d. The last thing I need to upgrade. I've decided to go with SVS for my new sub. Using their Merlin tool on the web it suggests the following choices: PB 13 Ultra PC 13 Ultra-Cylinder sub SB 13 Ultra My problem is space against my wall. The PB 13 would have been my first choice. It just won't fit in the space I have. I would have to place it behind me someplace that the wife would accept. No easy task I might add.I really wanted the sub in the front of the room.I see SVS recommends placing their subs with the other speakers. The other two subs would fit into the space I have. I've never owned a cylinder sub before but that's not a problem.Which way would you guys go? Put the big guy in the rear of the room,or get one of the others? My room is 12" x 30" with hardwood floors.
  8. I will give it a try. Thanks for the tip. I will also try the settings that Tasdom suggested previously. I'm hoping to watch Man of Steel tonight. That should be a good way to inaugurate my new speakers.
  9. I haven't had time to run the calibration yet. I just set everything to 80 hz and gave it a quick listen.
  10. I just got the RF 7's hooked up this morning. My first thought was how impressive they look. They are absolute monsters compared to the 82's I was using. Those guys are my new surrounds. I only had a few minutes so I grabbed Roy Orbison's B&W Night blu ray and put that in the Oppo. I was really hoping I could tell a big difference from my previous setup. Needless to say I was blown away from the absolute start. The 7's just blow the 82's out of the water. I was kinda shocked at how much better they sound. Teamed with the 64 it's the best sound I have ever had. It's gonna be a great weekend listening to these speakers. Let me state the obvious and say Klipsch makes beautiful speakers that sound just as good as they look.
  11. You guys are a great help.I really do appreciate the replies.Obviously personal preference has a lot to do with it.It's going to be enjoyable playing around with everything.I will try everythng suggested here and see how it sounds to me.
  12. Do you guys use the same hz setting for all the speakers?I know some people set the main a little higher. What would be a good starting point for the crossover setting for my sub with those RF 7 ll's ?
  13. I believe it has room correction.I should have mentioned I have an Emotiva XP A3 also.
  14. Hello everyone I finally took the plunge and purchased a pair of these speakers after wanting them for some time. They are "A" stock in black and I got them for $2250 shipped which didnt seem to painfull. The wife doesnt agree of course.I've been using RF 82 ll's for my mains with a RC 64 ll that I purchased a few weeks ago.Im going to unpack them tonight hopefully and test them out.I dont have much time so I wont run any calibration or get that involved.I know it's a popular speaker and many of you are very familiar with them.Just thought I would ask what crossover settings you guys would suggest for my speakers and sub.I know it's an old question but Im just pumped for the 7's and thought i would see what you guys say.So i'ts the 7's for mains with the 64.Im goint to put my 82's in the back for my surrounds. My AVR is the Integra 40.3.Presently Im using a rw 12d for my sub until my next upgrade. When the wife recovers from the 7's and 64 Im going to get a SVS sub. Thanks for any tips they will be greatly appreciated.
  15. What the heck.I will use them as surrounds.I have enough room for them. The wife will just have to accept the idea.
  16. Presently I have the rf 62 ll towers and a rc 62 ll.The opportunity to pick up a pair of rf 82 ll's has come up and i think I will get them for my fronts.I was curious what you guys think of moving the 62's to the rear as my surrounds? Is it overkill, should I just try and get a few bucks for them?I had been planning on new surrounds in my 5.1 system and thought maybe it would be a good way to keep the 62's and utilize them.
  17. I will utilize a SPL meter and hopefully get decent results.I suppose measuring the subs in test mode would be the best way to go.
  18. Hello Everyone I just ordered the RW-12D sub.Presently I have a 12" JBL sub Im using.I always hear that having two subs is a plus.I was curious if anybody had any thoughts on using these two subs together.Im guessing it's not ideal, but still a worthwhile task?I thought I could put the JBL in the rear of the room.I assume I would just connect with a Y adapter and run the calibration on my Marantz? Is it hard to get the proper sound with two subs?Any advice or tips would be great.
  19. I see what youre saying.Originally I assumed the calibration was soley responsible for the changes. I did go back and change my speaker size to large.Cant thank you enough for youre replies.Very informative and greatly appreciated.I know most of this info is old news to many here.To me it's really inteersting stuf,f as Im just starting out and it's a learning process. The feedback from the forum is a huge help.
  20. I verified the settings I had entered manually before running the calibration. The calibration did change them,Other than the lfe I hadnt changed them yet.I am going to change my speakers back to small. It seems that is pretty much the norm.My system sounded good after the calibration. My rear speakers seemed much more active than previously.I just need to keep tinkering.
  21. I just recently hooked up my rf-62's and rc-62 to my Marantz 7002.So far I've been just tinkering around manually with the settings on my reciever. This forum has been a great place to get info while I was doing it of course.Today I thought I would perform an Audyssey cal to see what it came up with.I was surprised at some of the results afterwards.Prior to this I had my speakers set to "small".TheAudyssey changed them all to "large".It also changed the lpf on my sub to 60hz.I had it either at 80hz or 100hz while I was experimenting.Does anybody have any thoughts on the Audyssey cal results?I did change my sub back to 80hz.Should I go ahead and set my speakers back to "large"?
  22. I have the Marantz 7002.I will run the calibration in the next day or two.Right now Im just having fun playing around with it.Thanks for all the replies.
  23. Thanks for the input. This brought up another question for me.On the speaker setup menu it asks if I have a THX speaker. If I choose no,I can adjust the LPF to whatever I want.If I choose yes,the setting goes to 80hz and cannot be changed. Is this anything I should be concerned with?I selected no to enable me to change the setting.
  24. Thanks for the reply.I just wanted some confirmation.Im really pleased with the Klipsch speakers.
  25. Thought I would ask for some opinions on setting up my sub with my new speakers.I just got a pair of rf-62's and a rc-62.For now Im using my JBL 12" sub. It's rated at 25hz-150hz.I was just curious what others would recommend for my settings.I know a lot of this is a matter of personal taste.I just would like to verify Im in the ballpark.Right now I have my speakers set to "small".I have the reciever lpf set to 100hz.Where would you put the crossover on the backm of the sub itself?Sorry if these are dumb questions.I just want to get the most out of these Klipsch speakers.
