  1. I noticed on AAFES.com today under the special order section that AAFES says Klipsch does not want to participate in the special order program. That's too bad, because even if Klipsch doesn't want to sell their speakers via the BM exchanges or AAFES.com they could at least allow service members to special order their speakers.
  2. I am currently in the Navy and purchased all of my Klipsch speakers from AAFES.com back when they carried the synergy line of speakers (which was up until 2002). You didn't have to be deployed or overseas in order to order the speakers, they carried them in AAFES exchanges state side and also on AFFES.com. Because they carried Klipsch, I was able to special order the reference line. Believe me after the exchange added their markup it wasn't a huge savings but it was nice to be able to order from a trusted source. The exchange submitted a purchase order to Klipsch (for special orders) and Klipsch shipped the speaker direct to the customer. If you look at AAFES.com today you will see alot of lower end speakers or the high dollar Bose stuff. I don't know if Klipsch couldn't compete on price with the low end stuff that the exchange was selling or if they just weren't moving enought product. I would like to know who ended the relationship Klipsch or AAFES? If it was AAFES, we could all ask AAFES to put Klipsch back on the special order list.
  3. As a member of the U.S. Navy - just wanted to say thanks for supporting the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). I have purchased all of my Klipsch speakers through AAFES and appreciate Klipsch's support of our military. Thanks again Paul
  4. I currently have RC-7s up front (L/C/R) and I am using SB-3s as surrounds. I plan on upgrading the SB-3s, but should I go with two more RC-7s or RB-5s? I can get the RB-5s for the price of one RC-7. Not sure if I will hear a major difference using the RB-5s - any thoughts? Paul
  5. BobT, Why not bring home an RC-7 and see how it sounds in the cabinet? Most movie sound comes from the center speaker anyway so you should get a good feel for how 3 RC-7s would sound in your cabinet. Also it looks like you have room in the center position to try the RC-7 without having to make any modifications to your cabinet or the RC-7. I'm using 3 RC-7s in my HT L/R/C and they sound wonderful! Of course, I rotated the horn on the L/R and have them on stands in an upright position. Paul
  6. I'm bi-amping my RC-7s (used as L/R Fronts) with a 60 watt per channel B&K 2500. I'm using a Y cable and sending the same signal to the HF and LF speaker connections. My amp has level controls and I currently have both HF and LF conncections turned all the way up. I am wondering if I am sending too much power to the tweeter? Should I use the level controls and reduce the volume going to the tweeter? Thanks for any help. Paul
  7. Thanks for the replies. I contacted Klipsch this morning and I am sending them back the damaged woofer. It was pretty easy to removed it from the speaker cabinet. I hope to have a replacement in the next week or two. Paul
  8. I just received my RC-7 in a box that did not appear to be damaged. Upon inspection I noticed that one of the cerametallic cone woofers has a dent. I am pretty sure that I know the answer but I thought I would ask anyway. Is the dent going to effect the sound? Thanks for your assistance. Paul
  9. Mike, I have SB-3s on stands. They are on 24" steel stands that are filled with sand. Need to make sure that the tweeter is at or slightly above ear level, which should guide you on the stands height. A good quality stand will improve the sound. I am using blu-tack to couple the speaker to the stand and it works very well. Check out audioadvisor.com for stands and the blu-tack. Hope this helps. Paul
  10. deang, I am seriously considering 3 RC-7s for my music/HT ( I figure I am going to need a sub anyway ) and have a couple of questions. How hard is it to rotate the horn in the RC-7? Does it make a difference which woofer is on top? What size stands are you using? What does Klipsch say about rotating the horn will it void the warranty? Thanks Paul
  11. deang, Can you give us another update on using the RC-7s as mains? I am thinking about either the RF-5s as L/R front with the RC-7 as the center or maybe 3 RC-7s. How are the RC-7s on stands? Are they stable? Thanks for the information. Paul
