  1. Scrappy I can kind of understand what you mean. My 83s and 64 at reference volume were a little on the harsh side but still sounded great. Now that I have dialed in my THX setup for about 3 weeks I can say it definitely at high volumes has more detail, no harshness and astounding power and quality. Also I would agree with you the SVS dual 13s were better than 2 THX KW-120s having owned ultra 13s. when I upgraded to 4 KW-120s and 2 KA-1000s thats a different story. Just my 2 cents though. My room went some extreme changes though adding acoustics, upgrading to the full THX line adding separate amps and adding more KW-120s made the cinematic world a 180 degrees. Still miss the way music sounded on my 83s but movies are surreal. I wonder what that THX setup you listned to was using to power them
  2. Couldnt possibly take your front row seat. Possibly would try to nab that right or left front row though lol. When is this blowout ?
  3. Vital that is so interesting. Goes to show that every room behaves differently. When I had my stacked they worked well when I had 2 stacked but when I added the other 2 stacked they canceled each other out it seemed. When I put all 4 side by side in a row front and center I got that deep absurd chest punching bass you speak of. I guess rooms are the major player in this. hmm maybe I should have stacked 4 all the way to the ceiling in 1 spot of the room lol. that would have just looked weird. It took a while playing with the room before I started construction but ended up with the best results in their location now.
  4. Goodness Im on the fence with plasma and led/lcd. The Panny plasmas are unbelievably nice but like others have said I cant stand the glare/reflection. I still own the coveted Pioneer Elite Pro 151FD 60 Plasma down in the living room and cannot help loving that Plasma TV. For the theater room I use the new Elite PRO70 70 Led and I have to say the black levels and everything I loved from plasma has been retained with this set. It is extremely expensive but was worth it to me. If you are going to do a lot of viewing during the day etc. dont shy away from the Samsungs they have great picture and I also like LG. but if you plan to watch mainly at night that plasmas smooth natural deep colors will be wonderful. If I were you in this situation id go LED for the room though after seeing both Samsung and LGs 3d LG would be my choice. Congrats on the refrence setup []
  5. I noticed a difference in port locations on the subs as well as speakers for effectiveness. The front firing slot port on both the THX subs and THX speakers make a considerable difference I the sound that is heard and felt. The same went for the front ports on the SVS ultra 13s. the front ports just sound great now that I have been giving them all test runs. I owned the synergy 12 sub, Dual RT12ds, RSW 10d, etc and I just like that slot of air so far on my Mains and Subs.
  6. Im with Youthman. All 4 of my subs are 90lbs and I used to have 2 stacked on 2 and they never moved. Hey youthman doesnt placing them side by side also yield 3db gain? Thats what I heard from some other members a while ago. I noticed with mine all 4 in a row under the display they had the deepest and most even bass. When I had them stacked in the 2 front right corners months ago they produced awkward bass and room response probably due to their being way to much and room nodes. Just curious if you can achieve the 3db with them placed side by side about 2-3 inches apart
  7. Interesting that is why I wanted to ask on the forum. For right now they sound just find I have just begun to wonder if I would have benefited by a directional speaker. I definitely cant put directional speakers as my surround back so maybe keeping 4 WDST speaks as the surrounds and surround backs is the most enveloping? No worries on the sound at the bottom of the staircase nothing but a turn and popcorn machine down there and then off to guest bedrooms. It is just me and my fiancé in the house so if I had guests and or such the 4 thx subs would be the concern lol. Im interested in getting a few more responses and then making the final decision. I am hoping most will say that your opinion would or is best as the KS-525s are much cheaper and dont require the Omni mount brackets etc. The right rear is ok and I have put up acoustic panels back there to help. Thanks for the response.
  8. So guys in searching for another pair of Klipsch THX RS-525s I was about to pull the plug and have decided to bring up a point I think we all discussed for my particular room a while ago. Normally id be all about WDST speakers for my side surround and surround backs but I have been considering putting my current KS-525s as my Surround backs behind my theater seats and using KL-525s as my side surrounds. Normally like I said I would use KS-525s for both but if you guys can see form my pictures, when sitting in the seating position the left side surround speakers that is currently mounted has much of the sound flowing down the stair case/entrance to the room. The Right Side Surround is still has much of the sound pointed toward a corner wall. I thought maybe in this case for my room and set up a pair of KL-525s with some directionality would be better so that they would aim slightly down like my L,C,R and directly at the listening area from the side walls instead of the WDST design through some sound down the staircase and some sound at the rear wall. What do you guys think any in favor of using the KL-525s as my surrounds and throwing the KS525s to my surround back wall? Thanks Klispch Forum.
  9. I agree I absolutely love this forum. Sorry for being away for a while just got crazy with work and the theater room finally. Of any forum I have been a part of this has become my favorite 100%. I think we should just assimilate the other forums to be like ours. Resistance is futile! Texans means whiskey and bourbon im in!
  10. Well I like Denon and Pioneer. ( I use the Anthem as amps and do like them but I wanted to give him my opinion on the newer pioneer receivers with D3 amps. I really liked the sound. I also enjoyed the sound of the HKs, B&k etc with Klipsch. No harm on the Denon if he wants to look into it I just found it to be way to neutral. Trying to give one last little bit of hope with the Pioneer lol. Either way I hope he is able to find a nice amp for his speaks that is awesome to his ears. Overall I now prefer the head room and sound of using separate amps and only think the Anthem Amps have enhanced the sound coming from the decoding on my Pioneer Elite.
  11. Actually to be honest I try not to buy movies anymore. Only Blurays of something I really want. The last one I bought was the dark knight rises but I plan to pick up Skyfall, Argo and Lincoln, and on the waterfront this month. Looking into getting (2) 4TB hard drives and rip all the dvds and put them on the drive. Then going to sell all the hard copies and just keep the blurays. Dont have time to watch all those darn movies and definitely stream a lot via the apple tvs now. Still want to keep my library of movies just rather have them in 2 hard drives and save the space. This technology becomes so outdated so quickly now blurays will be obsolete when 4k blurays are out then I have read about hvd discs Holographic Video Disks on the horizon. Heres to hoping we will have a holodeck to enjoy things in one day like on star trek LOL.
  12. Final pic of the evening sorry for all the photos but wanted to give a good representation of the last 1.5 months work. almost done a little more photos in 2 weeks and i wont post any more. Good night Klipsch family.
