Tannoy currently uses "pepper pots" which are composed of patterned holes in the phase plug. It's an alternative to slots, and I'm curious if you have any experience with this design in comparison.

Thanks for the answers. Your comment, "The 1.5 mil version is designed to be used above 1Khz (in PA), the 2mil version, 500hz" gave me the impression that the thicker phragm extended lower. I suppose I was mistakenly thinking like it was a woofer, where more mass means lower extension. Cheers!

Whoops, I meant diaphragm! I'm curious, does the thicker phragm extend lower into the midrange? Does it have advantages, like better durability? Or is the 1.5 better for higher resolution?

Hmmm, from photos on Ebay OEM replacements, it looks like it's actually written on the diaphragm. I'm not sure if that's always the case, however.

Has anyone compared these to Crites 4500 Khorn crossovers? Wondering if these are an upgrade. Thanks

Very interesting! It looks like those EV are hard to beat for the money. I think I recall there being two different OEM diaphragm thicknesses available? Is one more desirable for home use?

On my previous pair, I was able to use a generic foam surround to redo one. Maybe not identical to stock, but it worked and sounded fine. I guess it doesn't matter now since you you found one on Ebay lol! Enjoy, great sounding and nice looking speakers.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a little unsure of how these adapters fit into the various designs. Some are removable... Does that mean it's not a true large format design? Doesn't a true two inch exit driver have, in fact, a two inch hole? I understand 1.5 inch is popular as well... I'm just confused about what determines the size. Diaphragm itself? Exit hole size? Obviously I need low end extention for use in a 400hz horn.

Has anyone used these? I'm interested in a large format upgrade for my Khorns (currently using Volti horns with K55m on adapters). Also considering other options. Thanks

The driver spec sheets list titanium as the diaphragm material. If they moved to Beryllium at some point, I consider that a substantial upgrade. Thanks

I've been looking at some large format midrange drivers for Khorns, and saw that some dealers have these OEM phragms described as being beryllium? Are they mistaken? I didn't think they produced Be units.
