  3. I had seen ALK crossovers on several peoples profiles and I didnt know what it meant; today I know, it means perfection for Klipsch Cornwalls and Im sure similar results on all classic type Klipsch speakers. I received the new crossovers at work, I took them out of the box a marveled at the pure artistry in engineering. The attention to detail was incredible. Little things like the caps, transformers and filters all were mounted face up where you read the specs and manufacturers names. The soldering was perfect, the board painted, the back protected with felt feet. All of these small details would be meaningless if the craftsmanship didnt translate into purer sound. So what about the sound, in a phrase open, detailed and perfectly blended. Every objection in the sound of my Cornwalls were vanquished. First I only installed one speaker network so I could compare the difference. It was startling. I wanted my brother to come hear the difference so I was going to leave the one speaker setup for show. My resolve lasted about twenty minutes then I couldnt stand it any longer and installed the second network. The harshness in the highs, the over presents of upper mids and the soft control of the bass were all handled with ease after installing the ALK crossover. If you own a pair of Klipschorns, La Scalas, Cornwalls or Heresys you owe it to your self to hear the full potential that they can beautifully deliver. Thank Al K. for a great product. www.alkeng.com Jeff Hazlett ------------------ Cornwalls Main fronts KLF-C7 Center IW-150 Rears KSW-12 200watt Sub Anthem AVM20 Preamp 5 Adcom 555s all mono BLK Toshiba 9200 DVD Sat. / Mit. 4. What a great day!!! I have two adcom 555's being modified by Musical designs and I can't wait to get them back. I also have a set of ALK crossovers being made. The wait is about to kill me!!! 5. Chris, You're right we have a lot klipsch speakers down here in Texas. Maybe because we are close to "Klipsch Mecca" Hope Arkansas. Anyway thanks for your input. I noticed that you have the ALK crossovers. I have a set on order right now Al said it would take about five weeks at best and may be 2 months at worst. What are your impressions of the crossovers? 6. I'm thinking about buying another set of Cornwalls for my rear channels. I am buying these from my brother what would ya'll think is a fair price. They are in excellent condition and no freight is involved. Ya'll are a good third party to find a fair price. Thanks for the input. 7. I have been experimenting with my KLF-C7, which is paired with Cornwall mains. Anyway here's what I did Sunday. I had an extra K77 tweeter from a LaScala and I hooked it inline with the c7. It sounded better. Then I took the AA crossover out of the LaScala hooked the k77 to the tweeter, then the c7 tweeter/horn to the midrange (squawker) and the two 8" woofers (big surprise) to the woofer. I know that the all the ranges couldn't possibly match up from the c7 components and the AA LaScala crossover, but it sounds great, not just a little better but great. The sound stage is much more consistent across the entire front. When switching from a stereo mode to prologic the sound no longer just collapses. It's crazy, it can't be perfect, but it does sound good. Good enough to keep trying to improve it. 8. Does anyone know the full range of the following speakers: K-90 KV Tweeter K-1062 K-1008 Is there a place on the Klipsch website thats gives this kind of information? 10. Wes, What is the configuration differences between the Acadamy and KLF C7? What is it about the sound that you like better? 11. Are ya'll saying the RF-c7 is not a match or the KLF-C7 is not a match. I agree that a Heresy would be great but what about video shielding? 12. I have Cornwall's and a KLF-C7 which as you know is suppose to match the cornwalls. I don't think it sounds a thing like the Cornwalls. Has anyone compaired the new RF-C7 as a center with Cornwall mains? 13. Has the new technology brought by the RF-5's and the whole RF series finally past the older bolder Cornwall's? I love my Cornwall's but I'm starting to wonder about the RF series. Can two 8 inch woofers match the Cornwalls 15 inch Woofer? My KLF C7 center channel is suppose to match the timber of the Cornwall's. I don't think it sounds a thing like the Cornwall's. The KLF C-7 has a low-end frequency of 75hz versus the new RF C-7 at, what is it, 48hz. Do you think the RF C-7 would come closer? I don't know what do you guys think? 14. My Klipsch sub came with a ground lift adaptor from Klipsch. I wouldn't worry about using one. 15. If you like SS how much wattage do you need versus Tubes? Can tube keep up with fast expolstions and car wrecks? On the other hand can SS sooth you with warm film scores that float about the room? Will tubes work for HT? 16. Which speakers would a better choice for front mains? Cornwalls or La Scala's. Would it better to have Cornwalls for front ann rear with RS-7 for sides? Any advice welcome, Jeff
  17. Does anybody know how to Bi-Amp cornwalls. It looks like you would just interupt the line to the woofer block running the positive through the filter anf the negitive just tied together. Is this right or do have to do somthing else? JEff
  18. How would I bi-wire (bi-amp) the crossover on a Cornwall speaker? I was using a Adcom 555 bridged to 600 watts (I know, I know, they don't need that much power. I then backed off and I'm running each speaker on one amp (one side of the 555 set to stereo) 200 watts. I'm leaving the other side unplugged. Thus basically a 200-watt mono block amp. So I had too much time on my hands and started thinking... what if I split the input signal into the 555 then ran the left side (200) watts for the tweeter and mid horn and right side (200) watts for the woofer. I would still have the cleaner power production of the 555 set to stereo as opposed to the bridged mode and a cleaner signal going to the Cornwall components. Is this crazy or does it make sense? Any thoughts (be kind)? Jeff
  19. My quest is not power for power sake. I couldn't agree more that Cornwalls don't need a tremendous amount of power. In fact many, many years ago in land far away (before marriage and kids) My brother and a friend loaded my two Cornwalls into a van, hooked them up to a 50 watt car power amp and went skiing, Dallas to Crested Butte. Kids what are you going to do? Thanks Myram Anyway I'm looking for every watt going to my speakers to be clean and musical, not strained at all. Its nice to know that I have all the power that I will never need. Please tell me more about the mod? Did you get the LX or the signature upgrade? What do use now that's sound better to you? Thanks for the power support from TheEar Thanks, Jeff
  20. Rowooo, Muddy is not a good word. As I said it's personal preferences. I have an older McIntosh amp that I use, I've had 555's and 5500's(5503). I use a 68 tube fender deluxe for my guitar amp. I have falling in and out of love then back in love again with each of these amps. Today I'm in a bipolar amp mood. The 5500 is a great amp. What speakers do you use with your 5500? Jeff
  21. Ray, Thanks for your thoughts. What you suggested was exactly my next move. Have you had any experence with the 565 mono blocks? Jeff
  22. I have cornwalls for the mains and matching klipsch classics all around. Power does not seen to be an issue. The loudest volume on average is 90 DB. I have 5 555's all bridged to mono. I'm thinking about changing to 565 mono blocks, less power but maybe better sound. I had adcoms 5500 @ 5503 but I found them a little muddy some might call it warmer, just personal taste i guess. Does anyone have in eperence with Musical Concepts, modifacations for the adcom amps? Any thoughts would be apprceiated, Jeff
