  1. What is the seller ID? I think I may try some.
  2. I wonder if Eastern Europe refers to USA surplus as Constitutional Republic military surplus? No reply necessary, just rhetoric.
  3. What is the input sensitivity? Looks like you will be able to use this connected directly to a source.
  4. You're right, I forgot about the necessity to use tubes that are in production. In order to keep the cost down, the 6SN7 is probably the best choice in your circuit. It is a great all around tube!
  5. The EL84 follower would be a great alternate build for some members. I’d keep it as an alternative.
  6. How much current can the 6SN7 sink in your design? I know it’s not too much, but just enough to get some A2.
  7. I recently bought a small stash of 12AV5GA’s on eBay for use in 2A3 “type” amps. They are a little cheaper than 6AV5GA’s.
  8. STR - You are showing your age! I love it. He said roach...
  9. Here is a socket for the 211-2, which is a festoon type bulb. Looks like just what we need. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3x-42MM-Festoon-Bulb-Socket-Base-Holder-Metal-Contact-for-LED-Halogen-Lamps/183980436091
  10. Polyswitch’s don’t clamp like Zeners, they slowly increase their resistance until the trip point. That is why they are usually bypassed with a resistor for audio use. They also need a cool down period to re-establish their thermal cycle.
  11. I assume the tweeter in the below diagram is a K77?
  12. It was a compromise between blown tweeters and sound quality. It’s a known fact the tweeters were (are) delicate. Perhaps the threshold could have been a bit higher so the distortion would not begin until a higher wattage. Newer technology performs better such as poly switches, but they are not the final answer. I personally prefer the right light bulb.
  13. I never found that quote funny or even relevant.
  14. Finally, some visual proof of what people claim to have been hearing. Very good work Captain!
  15. To clarify, are you going to use an ultralinear connection or pentode/tetrode screen connection for the SE amp?
  16. This was exactly the concept when I bought this amp a few years ago. The EL34 is now one of my favorite amps. I wish I knew where the OPT's were from, I'd buy them out!
  17. I never bought or used any of his products, but I heard they were a tremendous value and good sounding iron.
  18. Is Transcendar still winding x-formers? I mean as in new orders?
  19. Opps, you are right. I thought it was PP, but a decent SE xformer will be at least the cost of the PP.
  20. More like worm hole, you don’t know where you’ll come out.
  21. Can you give us a peep into what topology you have in mind? I'm dying...
