  1. I too have the STR-DA777ES and love it. Great bass management, excellent build quality and it makes a great pre/pro. I currently use it as a pre/pro for my 2205AT and the sound is GREAT. Mike
  2. The 20-39+ series is a great choice. Try using the port plug and see what you think. I run both of mine with the plugs in and have had great results. Mike
  3. I run a Parasound 2205 with my KLF speakers and couldn't be happier. The sound is crisp and tight at any volume level ( at lease levels that you can remain in the same room. 4. Congrats on your purchase! After 5 years of service my KLF's are still going strong. The KLF-30's are the only items I haven't, or wanted, to upgrade... they are just that good. The other bonus is that the are amazing in HT as well as 2 channel. 5. I recently added a Parasound 2205AT to my HT and LOVE it! In conjunction with my KLF's, the 220W x 5 drives the speakers to ridiculous levels with clean crisp sound. I have always believed that it is better to have to much power than enough. 6. I am a firm believer that too much is enough and enough is too much. I recently picked up a pair of 20-39CS+'s and the Samson 1000 for my 300 sq ft room( My HT )and still run my 2 Velo's with the SVS's. Goota go with 2,IMHO. Bi amp?

John, You are right about the amp not being MUCH better than the reciever, but the sound was a little cleaner and the bass in analog direct mode is a little bit better. I would like to move to a pre/pro some day, but the Sony has a wounderful pre amp section, from what I have heard. The other plus is the gain adjustment on the amp to reduce the volume sesativity on the reciever, as I rarely made it past 1 on the dial, which made volume control a little tricky at times. I have the gain set at 75% which puts reference level at the 10-11 o'clock position on the receiver volume control(much easier to manage-WAF). Klipsch speakers are so efficeint. Bi amp?

I recently picked up a Parasound 1205A 5 channel amp for my system and was concidering using this to bi- amp my KLF-30's and also to run my center(KLF-C7). My receiver @ 120WPC should be a close enough match, power wise, to allow me to run the surrounds. I use the system for about 70% music and was wondering if this would yield a dramatic improvement? Any comments on this configuration? TIA Mike ------------------ Sony STR-DA777ES KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-10 surrounds 2 x Velo SPL1200 subs 2 x SVS 20-39CS+ Samson 1000 Behringer DSP1124P Sony SCD-CE775 SACD Sony DVP-NC600 DVD Sony SLV-R1000 VCR Sony 32" TV HTS-2500 power center
  9. Now that I finally have my SVS's, I went and got a Parasound 1205A amp since I was in the spending mode.I think that I am done upgrading after this...running out of living room. My dilema lies in weather to bi-amp my KLF-30's with 4 of the 5 channels and use my receiver(120wpc) to run the surrounds or would I be better served running all 5 channels with the Parasound. These Legend speakers are so efficient that the 140wpc would probably be plenty. Anyone tried bi-amping with a Parasound? Mike ------------------ Sony STR-DA777ES KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-10 surrounds 2 x Velo SPL1200 subs 2 x SVS 20-39CS+ Samson 1000 Behringer DSP1124P Sony SCD-CE775 SACD Sony DVP-NC600 DVD Sony SLV-R1000 VCR Sony 32" TV HTS-2500 power center
  10. Any thoughts on bi-amping my KLF-30's with the Parasound 1205A? I was thinking of using the amp section of my receiver(Sony STR-DA777ES) to run my surrounds and using 4 of the 5 channels on the 1205A to bi-amp my mains and the 5th channel to run my center speaker.Or would I be best served running all five speakers through the 1205 and keeping the mains bi-wired(Monster Z2 Bi-Wire)? 4 x 140W channels might be a bit excessive for the KLF-30's since the are so efficient. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. 11. Well I decided to get the dual 20-39CS+ package locally from someone whos wife said 'NO WAY'. I also found a Parasound 1205A amp for less than $800 and decided to go that route. These Klipsch speakers are so efficient that I figure that this amp wil drive them nicely at 140wpc. Now I got to figure out what to do with my SPL1200's. I was thinking of placing them on either side of the couch(main listening position) and setting their crossovers at 40HZ or so for that increased tactile action. With a 2400 cu ft room(20x15x8) this might be an overkill though. 12. I have the oppportunity to pick up an Aragon 8008x5 amp and would like to get some feedback on how this unit might work with my current set up? As this is my first separate amp purchase(for home audio) and no opportunity to demo units, any comments on this unit and its ability to drive my system for both HT and 2 channel would be greatly appreciated. In a recent development an opportunity has presented itself to get a pair of SVS 20-39+ subs and the Samson 1000W amp from someone local...would my money be better spent on the subs or the 8008x5 amp? Like I asid, I have had no experience with separates and want to invest my money wisely. 13. Any comments on Parasound or Aragon. I have found soulutions from both manufacturers(used) for $1500 or less. Any comments on the Aragon 8008 x 3 or the Parasound 2205A? These are the models I have been looking at. If I went with a 3 channel amp I would end up using the STR-DA777ES(120WPC) to power the surrounds. Would this cause serious issues matching speaker levels for HT? 14. The upgradeitis has set in again, just after I got over a serious case. I finished upgrading my sub section and receiver and am looking at possibly getting a separate 2 or 5 channel amp. Dont get me wrong, the amp section in the STR-DA777ES is great, MILES ahead of anything I have had before.but its a long road. Any suggestions on brands/models to look at, or will there not be much improvement? No Sony?

I have love my Sony/Klipsch combo. I would recommend looking at the ES line if you are concidering going that route. You can find deals on used ES receivers as I did and get a great price. I found my DA777ES for $850.00 online and love it. I also ran my KLF's on a DA333ES ($395 online) before upgrading and they sounded wonderful as well. 16. I am replacing the mid driver diaphram on my KLF-30 and was considering replacing both in order to keep the drivers matched. My question is should I replace both or just the one I am haveing problems with. The $30 for another diaphram is no big deal, I just have been a believer that if something isn't broke, don't fix it. 17. Hey Avman, I have the 777. My system has been upgraded since I last posted and forgot that I had a signature in my profile. Mike
  18. I recently went through setting up my bass management/crossovers for my system. I am running KLF-30 mains, KLF-C7 center, KLF-10 surrounds and a pair of Velo SPL1200 subs connected to a Sony DA777ES receiver. My first inclination was to set them all up as 'Large', my ego would have it no other way. But after doing hours of research I discovered that this Large/Small bass management debate has been beaten to death. The overwhelming majority of HT & audio enthusiasts find that setting all of your speakers to 'Small' and letting the sub handle its intended work load, creates a much cleaner and accurate reproduction of movies and music. I finally gathered enough ammo to convince my manhood to set the speakers to 'Small' and give it a run....to my surprise it actually sounds better. IMHO. I found that using the crossover on the subs to regulate LFE was a better choice for my system due to its greater slope. I ended up with the following crossover settings: Mains- crossover @ 50HZ Center- crossover @80HZ Surrounds- crossover @50HZ Subs- crossover @80HZ LFE on receiver- crossover @120HZ As counter intuitive as it may seem to set these massive drivers to 'Small', it really gives you greater flexibility in managing your sound reproduction. No matter what anyone tells you, the best configuration is the one that sounds best to you, all the research in the world will not change that. Best of luck Mike ------------------ Main:KLF30 Center:KLFC7 Rear:KLF10 Sub:Velodyne 1012xII Receiver:Sony DA333ES This message has been edited by Halder35 on 01-09-2002 at 02:21 AM
  19. Thanks for your input! It turned out to be the speaker cables. I went out and purchased Monster Cable Z2 BiWire...sounds GREAT. Mike ------------------ Main:KLF30 Center:KLFC7 Rear:KLF10 Sub:Velodyne 1012xII Receiver:Sony DA333ES
  20. I have had these KLF30's for over 3 years now and just love them. Recently I have noticed that the mids/highs are noticably louder on one speaker than the other.I have swapped horns/tweets and the same speaker is still a lot brighter(almost too bright).Tried running them on my Yamaha amp...same thing.Anyone ran into this before? Any suggestions? Thank you for your time, Mike ------------------ Main:KLF30 Center:KLFC7 Rear:KLF10 Sub:Velodyne 1012xII Receiver:Sony DA333ES
